OMC Orthopedics the Better Choice 1…read more Many on the Olympic Peninsula choose to have orthopedic surgery in either Silverdale or Seattle, but what if the better choice is OMC Orthopedics In Port Angeles? I first met Dr. Thomas Herschmiller after dislocating my finger. The Covid-19 pandemic was in full swing and the hour late, when I suggested he give me some pain medication and schedule a hand specialist in the morning. To his great credit, he found an anesthesiologist and performed late-night surgery. A strapping 6' 8" Canadian blessed with large powerful hands well suited for his specialties, hips and knees, that night his hands demonstrated an exacting precision. Indeed, my occupational therapist was well pleased by his workmanship; with little to no underlying scar tissue, the incision remains undetectable and the finger functions impeccably. After reviewing Dr. H's on-line knee replacement video, I knew he was an outstanding choice. Little did I know just how outstanding. Imagine waking from anesthesia with the attending Anesthesiologist, PA, RNs etc.--reviewing x-rays, admiring his work, and then educating a green pea like me. Later, my physical therapist confirmed his co-workers' findings. Today, my knee works wonderfully. On June 24th of 2025, Dr. H replaced my right hip. Again, those attending me, both pre and post-op, praised him. Immediately after surgery and recovery, I was taking laps in Short Stay with my walker. Great surgeons do great work; Dr. Herschmiller and his team are an outstanding reflection of OMC Orthopedics. Though these personal experiences as well as patients who speak highly of Dr. H's fellow surgeons reveal an excellence worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8), Dr. H will likely tell you he and his team are simply doing their jobs. Humility is a mark of greatness. Truly, OMC Orthopedic in Port Angeles is the better choice for orthopedic surgery. Frank Tyler (aka The Green Pea) OMC Orthopedics a Better Choice 2 Shortly after my hip replacement surgery, my wife Babbette and I posted positive comments about OMC Orthopedics and specifically Dr. Thomas Herschmiller and his team. Today, I am 13 days into recovery. From the start, we began a husband and wife walking regime to our mailbox and back (2/10th of a mile) once/day graduating to 5 times/day. To date, we have increased the length of the walk by roughly 50-75 yards twice. Our goal is to activate my muscles, balance, and proprioception. When we return home, I ice the hip for 20 minutes. On July 3rd my physical therapist gave me two new exercises to integrate into the daily routine. While taking the aqua seal bandage off, a small patch of the outer layer of my skin peeled off leaving a blister like sore, OMC responded promptly and Dr. H called that evening to check up on his patient. Following his advice, the sore has healed nicely. A bidet, Sketcher's Slip In shoes, ice packs, and a recliner, all have proven helpful; however, there is a gamechanger. OMC combines the latest technological advancements (Smith+Nephew CORI surgical system) with old fashioned personal care. Dr. H and his team inspire patient confidence and participation. Babbette and I are off on another walk and are very thankful to the Lord and Dr. Herschmiller for my surgery and recovery. We look forward to seeing our PA, Josiah, on July 10th. Worst experience ever with Kristina Adams. Donna Lodge would be ashamed of what you have done to…read moreher practice. I will not be returning for another visit under your care. I had an uncomfortable experience during my first visit. Without knowing anything about me or having a real conversation, you told me I had a "bad air about me" and a poor mental state that I needed to work on. When I asked what you meant, you doubled down and said, "don't ask questions you don't want the answer to." Up until that point, we had been having a pleasant conversation about hobbies--then you abruptly shifted into what felt like an unsolicited spiritual reading. It came across very arrogant. The comment felt presumptive, unprofessional, and frankly, like projection. I left feeling judged and misunderstood. I had been looking forward to this appointment for two weeks and even turned down other chiropractors with earlier availability because I believed this would be a great experience. I was already having a tough day, and your comment only made things worse. After I left, I did some research and discovered that you've only been practicing for a couple of years (License CH61327793), most of that during the COVID era. That helped clarify the lack of experience I sensed. It also became clear that most of the glowing reviews for Lodge Chiropractic were from when Dr. Donna Lodge ran the practice, which now makes perfect sense. What really should have been a red flag was your odd decision to bring up a political argument between two other clients just before my session. That kind of oversharing set an unprofessional tone from the start, but I was excited and tried to give the benefit of the doubt. Lesson learned. Your projection of your own unresolved issues onto me was unnecessary. If you genuinely want to grow as a practitioner and retain patients, I strongly recommend doing the inner work you preach--through education, communication training, or therapy. You need classes on emotional intelligence and awareness, because what I experienced in your care was the opposite of that. If you're going to promote wellness, your energy and your lifestyle should align with what you're asking of others. This was not what I signed up for, and I hope you take this feedback seriously--for yourself and your future patients.
