My roof recently sprung a leak causing damage on two levels of my home. I called George after reading his many glowing reviews. He answered the phone immediately and was at my home with his two sons within a couple of hours. Actually, he apologized for being early! He and his son George spent about 20 minutes going over every inch of the roof, and came back with an assessment, a diagnosis and a proposed fix. With rain in the forecast, he juggled his schedule to get a crew out two days later to make the repairs. George and his sons were on hand to supervise every aspect of the repair and to addresse issues likely to create problems in the future. George is honest, fair, kind and straight forward. His two sons who work with him -- George and Buddy - are wonderfully personable young men. I can't recommend George highly enough! We developed a leak in our roof due to the improper installation of a skylight (done by the house's previous owners). George was fantastic and a chance find via a Yelp search (we chose him over other neighbor recommendations). Context: we bought a DC row house and on our final walkthrough before closing we saw clear evidence that water had leaked into an upstairs bedroom. We didn't know what we were dealing with. As soon as we were in the house, I reached out to a handful of companies saying I wanted an assessment of the entire roof, with a keen focus on that area above the leak. George was the first to show up for a free assessment. He listened to my concerns and proceeded to scope out the porch roof (no suspected issues) and main flat roof. I appreciated how he communicated and actually explained things to me, including what was/wasn't done by the previous owner and what he would do to make a repair and prolong the life of the roof. My feeling was that the "other guys" who came out were trying to take advantage of new homeowners and/or had no idea what they were doing. Neither of them bothered to look at the porch roof. George followed up with a written estimate within 15 minutes of leaving my house. It wasn't the cheapest option, but we felt the most comfortable with his recommendation and demeanor. His team got to work the day after we accepted the contract. He provided photo and text updates throughout the day and oversaw the entire operation. In addition to making the repair they sealed the entire roof. At the last minute I asked if George could put a cap on the chimney, which they did for a reasonable price. They also caulked around our back windows. George's response was: "we figured we might as well do it while we were up there." That's a long way of saying 10/10 recommend G&G for your roofing needs. George at G & G fixed several issues on my flat tin-roofed DC rowhouse. He had to replace slate roofing over two dormer windows in my attic that have leaked for years. They replaced a leaky skylight and rebuilt a lighter hatch cover for roof access. Finally, they patched and restored the flat roof with an asphalt aluminum coating. George was prompt and easy to work with. He checked out my roof and we discussed a couple of possible scenarios and chose an affordable path forward. They had to tear out old rotted wood and do a lot of scraping on the old roof, which is messy and can often cause problems with neighbors. When they finished for the day, his team vacuumed and cleaned my walkway along with my neighbor's porch. Needless to say, the neighbors were impressed. My detailed project was done in less than two days (and they were really hot days). I felt comfortable with them working on my house! George was great to work with, flexible and his team was efficient and kept everything neat and clean. I appreciated his honesty and his ability to explain his work in simple terms to a novice. I wish that G&G did other kinds of outdoor work -- such as decks and porches--- because I would definitely hire them again. read more

Can't say enough good things about this company. Earlier this week, I walked into my guest bedroom to finding water dripping from the ceiling and a huge pooled area of water when I looked up. I called a number of roofers and many said they weren't accepting clients unless it was a full roof repair. But George called back super quick and happened to be across the street from my house working on another roof. He asked if he could come over right then and there to take a look. He identified the problem quickly, gave me an estimate, and patched it up temporarily so that no water would get in with the incoming storm until he could have his team come by to do the work. Amazing service, great work, great price. We recently purchased an old home in Mount Pleasant with an equally old standing seam tin roof. I called G&G to take a look at the roof. I was relieved when George came out and reported that, despite its age, the roof was in good condition and only needed a new coat of paint. I've dealt with other roofers and contractors who use scare tactics and try to up-sell at every turn. George was the complete opposite. He put us at ease and was able to get to work the next week. George provided a firm quote up-front and his team showed up on time and were very professional. After they discovered a portion of the roof that would need to be repaired, George explained what the issue was and the additional costs involved in repairing it. I appreciated him raising the additional work ahead of time and in a no-pressure way. We had them do the additional work (the added cost was very reasonable). Between the added work and some logistical challenges caused by the steep pitch of the roof, they took about a day and a half to prep/repair and paint our roof. George was onsite nearly the entire time, managing the crew and keeping us informed. In summary....George/G&G was fast, reasonably priced, and did great work while putting us at ease. I highly recommend them! After a particularly bad storm, my roof leaked. The water damage was extensive. I had travel plans in two days and was very worried about leaving the house. During the storm (around midnight), I emailed G&G and told them that water was coming in and running down two floors. When I woke up, George had already emailed me back. I called George the day after I noticed water damage in my ceiling. He came out the very next day and figured out that water was coming in from a broken ridge vent on the roof. Knowing that it was going to rain heavily in the next day or two, George was willing to do the work that day so that further damage didn't occur to the interior or the roof and ceiling.
