I've always loved this warm place, where you feel right at home,…read more I've been here 3 times, between December 22 and January 2, when their registration system is down and it's once again impossible to get a bill. a real one, because their printer doesn't work either fr more then 10 days in a row I told them how important it is to give the customer an invoice, not just a debit receipt, especially for tqv and tps numbers. but nothing helped, the printer still doesn't work after more than a week, we have to take a picture of the screen! In December I waited 20 minutes for an invoice, the employee couldn't retrieve one from the system... so I have no proof of my purchase. No follow up was made by email. Also a few electronic power plates don't work, the floor is dirty and there's a lot of sloppiness. even if the holiday season is NOT their biggest period. The place used to be cozy and pleasant, but now it's just too stuffy!

Feels like a chill industrial warm creative cafe but with a difference: No bill at the end for sharing the space. I was there for a meeting today and just loved the vibe. Members of the coop can have official desk space in the big bright back area lined with windows where lots of socially minded businesses are hatching plans to save the world. In the front rooms, open to all, there is a big communal table and lots of smaller cafe tables, a free mini library, and other techy cool projects by members - like the Manivelle touch screen that connects you to the digital archives of Montreal's libraries! There is a side area with a stage and sound system, perfect for presentations, readings, etc. There is by-donation coffee, and a volunteer receptionist chilling and answering questions. There is an overall vibe of people caring for each other and getting shit done. C'est great.

It's more quiet, less focused on community, is smaller, but offers larger office spaces for individual companies. This differentiation means, I think, a focus on a different clientele. One that's less focused on the cool factor, one that's prioritizes less distraction, and doesn't need a few of the misc benefits of a WeWork (as much social and within coworking space networking). Both have coffee and beer on tap for free (if that matters). At Workbase is cheaper. It's also currently on at this space - though it hopes to expand. I like both At Workbase and WeWork even though they're different (have spent time with clients at both spaces).

There's NO WAY to access the offices using the elevator. No front desk. And when you book online there's no instructions on how to access the building. Feels like a scam. They just take your money and then don't let you access what you've booked. I'm currently taking my meetings sitting on the floor in the hallway because I needed to start my meetings and there was no one available to help.

Such amazing views and super quiet. My only real quibble: I wish the 31st floor had the same consumption resources as the other two areas (more meeting rooms, a "trust store" for snacks, and a little beer ;-)). I find working in an open environment where others are also hard at work very motivating. So I'm kinda hooked for now (despite having my own personal office at the university where I'm a prof).

It brings together investors and young start ups into one beautifully renovated expansive building, with shared kitchens, event and demo spaces, lounges with video games, etc. Right now it feels bright white and a little hushed as people just begin to claim the various available corners, drag chairs around and make themselves at home. But you can feel the optimism bubbling even in the empty rooms, like the ground floor restaurant space just waiting to flourish with the right kinds of love. There will be green roofs and shared garden and many many more hackathons and new ideas and encounters to come and I can't wait to see all what happens here at the new Notman!
