Gabe's is basically a cooperate run rummage sale. They buy truckloads of close-out merchandise (some of which is quite nice!, much of which is garbage) and they hang it on their racks and move on. Their business model is low margins on high volumes. Gabe's attracts about 50% normal customers and about 50% lowest of the low ghetto rats and White trash. They look at an article of clothing and then just throw it down, either on top of the racks without bothering to re-hang it properly or actually down on the floor. On a Saturday you will see DOZENS IF NOT HUNDREDS OF PIECES OF MERCHANDISE JUST THROWN ON THE FLOOR!!! Creating a scene that seems unbelievable that this is a corporate-run retail business! The worst of the customers let their children run wild in the store playing with merchandise, BREAKING MERCHANDISE, and generally acting as though a trip to the store is their substitute for not being able to afford Disney World or Chuckie Cheese. The children and the parents both act as though they have had no decent upbringing or learned social skills. And YES, this does pertain to a review about Gabe's because this is the atmosphere of the store if you decide to shop there. Much of the chaos stems from poor management. The will even sell BROKEN OR OTHERWISE DAMAGED MERCHANDISE just to get SOMETHING, ANYTHING out of it!!!...and this may or MAY NOT be clearly labeled as damaged. Like the old saying goes, the fish always rots from the head down. The employees are over-worked and stressed-out to the point of not caring. Let's just say that I have some insider knowledge of all this. Gabe's is a bottom-of-the-barrel retail operation. Wow! Lots of great cheap prices!! It's our first visit to Gabe's! We are able to purchase name brand clothing for all 5 of our family members! The store wasn't organized at all. Reminds us of Ollies. However with the prices we don't mind digging for deals. Lots of clearance items. Definitely will make a trip back. read more

The place is a mess! Clothes and shoes all over the floor, racks so stuffed that you can't move an article of clothing to see what else is there. Customer service is deplorable- cashiers on their phones, drunk employees barking like a dog on the cash register, former employees waving guns in the air, racial slurs and discriminatory language by managers about disabled employees, employees having sex in offices, employees naked in fitting rooms and sending nudes to another employee that was also at work read more

Gabes used to be my go to store all the time. The first games I ever went to wad in Ohio and it's an amazing store so I found one alot closer to Michigan on grape rd. And thought oh how wonderful but so disappointed compared to the Ohio store. Grape rd store was very unorganized and not a great selection so I'm sorry to say gabes is no longer my go to store. Wished they had shopping on line and maybe there would be a better selection. read more

Whoa. If you're willing to paw through over stuffed racks and step over clothes and other items strewn across the floor then by all means get your tail in there. I'm all about a bargain but please Pick up after yourself. My OCD was on overload and I had to leave within minutes of entering. Too bad. More deals for you. read more

I went in around 9:30 am. The only customer there. The place literally looked as if a natural disaster had happened there. What a mess. Carts and carts full of misplaced things in aisles. Plenty of employees there. One was sweeping the nasty floor and I was amazed at what he was sweeping up on that floor. It looked like it had t been swept in a while. There were misplaced items everywhere and things were so unorganized. Not one person acknowledged me. I went to see if they had an electric blanket but there were so many carts full of miscellaneous junk blocking the way to home goods I couldn't even get there. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I truly wonder if the store had been ransacked or something... I've never seen such a dirty and messy store. read more

BUYER BE WARE!! Store is smelly and unorganized. It's hard to tell where the departments are since you could find women's clothing in what looks to be the kids area. Expect to wait an extra 15 or 20 minutes at check out. The store isn't well staffed. The last time I was there, only one cashier that was rude . Going to TJ MAXX . Don't waste your time and money at Gabe's. read more

I hate to write a review like this, however, every time I've been to your store your staff isn't interested or indifferent to your guests. The first time I visited your store I observed a disabled man in a wheelchair struggling to scoot a bench to the front of the store. It was pretty loud and I thought it might attract the attention of a staff member. When I got to the front desk the staff was standing around trying to figure out what the noise was. I told them that it was a disabled man trying to bring a piece of furniture to the front. Not one person attempted to see if they could assist, until one lady who was stocking shelves noticed that nobody was going to help the man so she went to assist. Today I was in your store wanting to try on a few items. The fitting room doors were locked and there was no attendant. I rang the bell twice before going out to find some assistance. I approached a lady who appeared to be a supervisor. She was working with a group of associates stocking in the cosmetics department. I asked if I could get some assistance in the fitting room. At that point the lady stopped, and turned around slowly and glared at me...she did not offer a friendly word of assistance. Finally one of the girls offered to assist me. I understand staffing issues in retail, however there were several staff members present who were stocking and could give assistance to a guest and then go back to work. I hope this is something that can be used as a coaching opportunity because really aren't you there to assist your guests? read more
