This review is long overdue but I feel it's necessary to provide my input on my experience. I had ongoing shoulder pain that progressively got worse over time to the point where it was bothering me throughout the day. I searched Yelp and found Gabriel Goldman nearby with stellar reviews. Little did I know Yelp would steer me wrong. I setup an appointment and met up with him a few days later for a consult. He seemed very confident and told me that it would take many sessions and it may be costly but he would resolve my issues. He examined my shoulder and diagnosed me as having a lot of scar tissue in my shoulder from injuries and possible overuse. Now to the appointments.... I saw him a total of 6 or 7 times. Each appointment consisted of electrical stimulation/heat for about 20 minutes followed by about 10 minutes of ultrasound and then another 20 minutes manual therapy/massage. There was also an occasional adjustment during some visits. These are some of the issues I had during my visits: 1) The heat cuffs/blankets do not have any cover on them. Each patient sweats profusely with it and it is not cleaned at all between visits which seems quite unsanitary. 2) I never once saw anybody wipe down or clean the patient tables in the treatment room or the adjacent room. This should be standard practice. Again unsanitary practice. 3) The electrodes on the e-stim machine should be replaced after each patient. The electrodes were just reapplied back onto a plastic sheet and used on the next patient (Gross). 4) The end of the ultrasound device was never sanitized. The gel was just wiped off with a paper towel. The breaking point for me is when the manual therapy/massage left me severely bruised. The bruising was so bad I couldn't use my shoulder normally during times. The entire back side of my shoulder was left with HUGE dark bruises. Family members and my girlfriend were blown away when they saw the extent of the bruising. Gabriel Goldman told me this was normal and part of "breaking down the scar tissue." The tool he used to do a lot of this therapy was "a rock that he found on the beach." What the f....? Some of the normal things I had difficultly doing after these sessions included driving, showering, putting on a shirt, etc. What irked me is that he continued with the same treatment even though there was a lot of bruising and obvious pain and he stated it was ok and part of the process. I was already compensating with wrong muscles when I had my injury and this no doubt added to it, at least in my mind. My friend who is an MD advised me to stop this therapy and get an MRI to rule out anything serious. He told me to get the potential diagnoses/treatment notes from Gabriel Goldman and send it over to him for review. I called Gabriel Goldman and let him know I need my patient notes and potential diagnosis to review with my doctor friend in an upcoming visit. He got defensive and started asking questions. I let him know I was advised to get an MRI to rule out anything serious. His response was "I could have ordered that for you too." Ok...so why didn't you? So I let him know I would be moving on and he agreed to send me my patient notes. 2 days go by and I hear nothing back. I email him and no response. A day later I call and leave a message and no response. I call again and talk to him. I let him know my appointment is tomorrow and he finally emails me my notes. In the email he states: "Referencing my chart and your initial examination my impressions were that you had a subacromial impingement, but in my comments I had differentials of tendonitis/tendonosis and possible even a partial rotator cuff tear." WOW. Why wasn't any of this mentioned to me during my visits or my initial exam? What ever happened to the "scar tissue" diagnosis? So that is my less than stellar experience. The only upside is that his adjustments were nice (as a chiropractor I would hope they would be). But again I doubt the adjustments had anything to do with my treatment protocol, just another charge to tack onto my insurance charges. I wouldn't waste my money with this kind of care. I really don't know where to start. But I really contribute me being able to walk again (post hip surgery) to Dr. Goldman. I saw him weekly post surgery. He got me off of crutches, and worked muscles that needed to be activated/engaged again. Physical therapy left me in a great deal of pain and inflammation. I actually stopped going because it would have me down for days afterwards. I switched gears and went with Dr. Goldman to help me recover. With a concrete plan of care, and sticking to it, I am now BOXING three days a week AND personal training! His quality of care is what has me back and better than ever. I actually feel stronger now! And if things get wonky from a workout etc, I swear it just takes me one adjustment, and everything from my lower back, to my neck feels aligned and solid. He has been a life changer for me!!! Dr. Goldman is amazing! I have been to many many chiropractors over the last 20 years and he is amazing! He has a gift. He does deep tissue massage before adjustments and stretches you if needed (his stretching techniques are wonderful!) I have had sciatica issues, scoliosis, disc bulges, migraines, stiff neck and other issues and I always go to Dr. Goldman. He had great bedside manner and genuinely cares about his patients! He even works on my 7 year old who said after his adjustment, "this is the best day ever" when I asked why he said, "because Dr. Goldman made me feel better" Our family is grateful for Dr. Goldman! read more

Dr. Goldman gives the best adjustments and the best massages! Sometimes his massages may hurt if you are really tender but it will feel so good after! He also uses muscle stimulation to relieve pain deeper in the muscles, which I've never experienced at a chiropractor. It is so awesome to get such good treatment with one visit. The area is very nice too. I love the old Spanish style building and the aroma therapy air diffusers that he uses throughout the office. Dr. Goldman is THE BEST! He takes the time to get to know his patients personally, he's a wonderful communicator, and is an expert in his field of practice. I saw Dr. Goldman because I was experiencing unusual & sharp pains in my back that I couldn't necessarily describe, but they were worsening and very uncomfortable. He was able to see me the next day (incredible!) and spent valuable time with me discussing my symptoms and what he was going to do to treat them. I felt very comfortable with his level of knowledge, and confidence in what he was doing. You could tell that he treats each patient as an individual body. For my specific pain, he did electro-stimulation and a full body adjustment (he's a great balance of gentle and strong). I honestly stood up after the adjustment, and said "Wow, my pain is 100% gone... you are incredible!" I saw him a week later for a follow-up, and was still feeling great. No pain at all. He did a follow-up adjustment, and I have been feeling great ever since! I would recommend Dr. Goldman hands down to anyone! I phoned Dr. Goldman after being referred by another chiropractor office when they couldn't see me and I am glad that I saw Dr. Goldman. First off he was completely booked but after describing my pain he managed to fit me in between his patients. I had no problem waiting because the pain was so intense that I had to take two days off of work last week. He is thorough when it comes to his patient consultations. Lead me to a room that he has set up with reclining medical chairs that have a heating pad and put me on a machine that would relax my muscles. So, waiting was not an issue since I was getting a treatment before he worked on me. I liked that he uses essential oils as well. Not some icy-hot sort of pungent artificial smelling, stinging, cold rubs that absorb into our skin. I really liked that he used more natural ingredients. So KUDDOS for that. Granted I didn't go running out of the office and I wasn't out hiking the next day. But I did feel immensely better... My energy levels were up, I was not feeling so dragged down and exhausted like I had been feeling. I did get a massage soon after my visit with Dr. Goldman that helped as well but all the massages that I had received since my injury and up to the time of my visit with Dr. Goldman had helped relax me some but did not treat the issue. Plus.... he doesn't play lame snoozy music, no world music, no ethereal whimsical tunes that become redundant after a while. YAY for that! read more

My husband and I have been receiving chiropractic care for the past year or so. We have nothing but positive experience with Dr. Goldman and OC Chiropractic Care. He genuinely cares about the health and well being of his clients and when asked he will make suggestions to improve overall health and well-being. For example, I recently was very stressed studying for my state licensing exam. Dr. Goldman not only provided me the a much needed adjustment but was able to encourage me as I studied (ahem, crammed) before the exam. His confidence that he expressed in me and asked how he could support me in my moment of stress. I told him that I had been having a difficult time with my posture and stretching after hours upon hours of studying. He was able to provide me with several stretches and exercises to help strengthen my core which prepared me to feel physically capable during my exam. Let me start by saying Dr Gabriel Goldman has done a great job for me over the past couple of months since I started seeing him. And I highly recommend him for anyone seeking a professional Chiropractor to alleviate the aches and pains they may be experiencing. We have a 9mo old son, and lifting him and carrying a newborn/toddler around really can tweak your back. First, I have to say, I feel really bad that Dr. Goldman was left that really nasty review from JJ. I really think that some people will never be happy, no matter what you do. As a prior massage therapist and as someone who has had many sports injuries in my life, scar tissue is a pretty common thing to have and it can be very damaging. First, it can cause a decrease in range of motion, which can cause pain, discomfort and even pinched nerves, which causes even more issues. And second, breaking down scar tissue is SUPER painful and can definitely cause bruising. However, once it has broken down, the relief in symptomology and the increase in range of motion can be life changing. Third, you are not typically referred out for an MRI right off of the bat. Sure, some doctors are able to do it, especially if you have PPO. But typically, you need to have conservative treatment first to see if the injury can be healed first, prior to getting an MRI. Even a tear in a shoulder can heal on its own if its a minor tear, and often does not require an MRI or invasive treatment. And if you have an HMO, good luck getting that MRI until every treatment option has been exhausted. I hate that you gave him such a horrible review because you are uneducated in the field of medicine and have no clue what you are talking about. Even if you have a "doctor friend." And that rock he found on the beach... have you heard of deep tissue massage? Where do you think those rocks come from????? Your review is really unfair. Now to my review... I met Dr. Goldman a few years ago when I was having terrible siatic pain in my left hip. He is a miracle worker. I have been to so many therapist over the years and like I said, I was one myself. Dr. Goldman takes his time and really tries to fix/help his patients. Most chiros, you are in and out within 10 mins and you don't get a massage of any kind! Instead, Dr. Goldman listens and engages with his patients. He also helps out students with their externships. He is super friendly and genuinely cares about his patients. He is a family man too and a local of Costa Mesa. His business is something that should be celebrated and frequented. Nothing better than the small business guy bettering his community. I've been under chiropractic care off and on since a car accident over 40 years ago. In all those years I can honestly say I had only one chiropractor that was truly gifted...as opposed to giving adjustments to get you through to the next scheduled visit. Until now. I was referred to Dr. Goldman during a physical therapy appointment by a patient of Dr. Goldman's that said "he's awesome...he changed my life"! The first visit was not just a consultation to figure out the problem, it was the most thorough and relaxing treatment I've ever had. He explained the treatment he recommended, stim with heat (why didn't any other office use heat...it's wonderful!), massage, then adjusting. My body is ultra-sensitive & deep tissue massages are painful, but his expertise in massage therapy made all the difference. It was amazing how relaxed I was before he began the rearrangement process of the adjustment. I felt like a rag doll!! The adjustment process was much smoother. Due to a spondylolisthesis diagnosed over 10 years ago, my right leg occasionally goes into spasm, usually in the middle of the night, and the spasms vary on the pain scale. Until now I've had to walk it out, stretch it out, wait it out. When it happened during my appointment yesterday, Dr. Goldman demonstrated a stretch with resistance, and the spasm ebbed away within seconds. He explained the theory behind it...expecting mom's: the stretch will help those leg cramps too! I went in today for a first patient visit with my neck hurting badly and several ribs out. For years I've had ribs that slip out of alignment and it is SO painful. He was quickly able to feel exactly where the problem ribs were and with a few quick and skillful adjustments had me back in place and feeling so much relief from pain. He continued the magic when he then adjusted my neck with a gentle but highly effective technique that provided instant pain relief. Ahhh - THANKS DOC! He gave me a great deep therapeutic massage (about 15-20 minutes) as well right before the adjustment. Dr. Goldman is seriously someone who knows what he is doing, so much so that my entire family is treated by him, (my father comes for AZ to get his treatments!) I was a competitive swimmer for 14 years and I had an injury that cause major lower back pain and numbness, I went through physical therapy for several years and went through several chiropractors, nothing was working! but when I was referred to Dr. Goldman, I was hesitant to go becuase nothing had worked in the past. with in a 2 weeks I was pain free, something that I had not felt in YEARS.... back injuries are a serious thing and are very hard to fix, I am always hesitant to have someone new work on my back, but honestly Dr. Goldman was so comforting and you could tell that he knew what he was doing through the entire visit. My husband also has a hairline fracture in his back and he wont let anyone touch him but Dr. Goldman. Dr. Goldman is a gem, he is extremly educated and knows what he is doing, he also takes the time to know each patient specifically. nothing is more comforting then when you walk in to the office and the Dr. knows you by name and asks how you are doing (in regards to your problem area, before even looking at a file!!) My grandpa was a chiropractor and so I am picky about the types of treatments I receive and the chiropractors that I trust. After he became unable to give us adjustments, I went without regular chiropractic visits for an extremely long time because nobody seemed to fit the bill for me. I started seeing Dr. Goldman when I was first pregnant with my daughter and my sciatica was terrible. Because I was pregnant and in pain, I was even more skeptical than I usually am with new chiropractors when I met him. Needless to say, over 2 years later, I won't see anyone else. I never get the feeling that I'm being "sold" un necessary visits. The treatments are always thorough, you never leave feeling rushed in n out. Dr.Goldman is an exceptional chiropractor. I've gone to many Chiro throughout the years at least two in orange county and I would have to say by far Dr.Goldman is by far the most informative and knowledgeable as well as caring. I have minor scoliosis and decided to try a fast paced workout and ended up with severe back pain and shooting pains from my hip, down to my legs. When calling to make an appointment, he really went out of his way in trying to change his schedule in order to fit me in last minute. Also, due to the degree of my pain he still took my insurance, even for being a top tier chiropractor! His office, is nice and clean and literally across the street from triangle square. He asked me a lot of questions to find how severe the pain was, where the pain was and he def. still informed me the root of the pain as well as the type of chiropractor he was. He is the most personable doctor I've met. He did not try to immediately sell me a package deal, where other chiropractors have done in the past in order to give me false hopes of curing my back. Dr. Goldman is honest and sincere. I was put on a table with a heated pad with a great electro device which created stimulation in my lower back for 20 minutes. Thereafter, I got an intense therapeutic massage which he personally does on his own! He knew all the tense areas, even areas where other massage therapist haven't even pinpointed. After my first visit, I went to visit him two more times which he spends a good amount of time on you. He's NOT like other chiropractors who adjust you, put you on a roller machine and then you are on your way in 15 minutes. He spends QUALITY time with you to figure out the issues. After three visits all my pain was relieved and I felt so much better! If you have pain and need more than just a basic adjustment, definitely go see Dr.Goldman. I plan on continuing to see him to be proactive as part of my wellness care. read more

Went in here for a bad car accident and Dr. Goldman changed my whole perspective on chiropractors. He was very professional and took the time to hear the problems I was having with my neck (not your typical 15 minute visit), and the office was very clean throughout. The reason for my review is I referred my mom after she strained her back and Dr. Goldman treated her great. He made sure that my mom had an enjoyable experience and got the proper treatment she needed. Now it's nice to tell people to go see "my guy" when they're having pain! read more

I've been to many Chiropractors in my life; the result of a terrible collision years ago, and chiropractic is the only thing that helps. So I know my way around a Chiropractor. We relocated from Seattle recently so I needed to find a good one. I settled on Dr. Goldman and I am really glad I did. First of all he is the only Chiropractor I have ever been to who uses both Physical Therapy and Chiropractic modalities. He personally does my deep tissues massage before giving an adjustment because he started out as a PT before becoming a Chiropractor. He also uses laser therapy and other modalities if needed. Secondly, he is the most approachable and down to earth Dr. , easy to converse with and genuinely interested in you.
