It may just be familiarity, but all-in-all I think Conshohocken offers a pretty good shopping experience. Living in a studio with another person, even part-time, offers challenges. With limited square footage, I maximize floor space and -- because aesthetics are important -- keep everything to scale. I solved practical problems with recent Ikea purchases: ** There's little room between our apartment-sized couch and the wall-mounted tv. Most coffee tables are too big, but Ikea stocks a basic parson coffee table that meets my dimensions. A bonus that it's only $29.99! ** Limited storage problems are solved with Ikea boxes designed to store shoes. We hung them inside closets and by the front door, now filled with hats, gloves, underwear, dish towels -- really everything BUT shoes. ** The place is too small for dinner parties, but c'mon over for wine and charcuterie! Two Ikea wine racks one-over-the-other, maximizes space. Functional, plus I like the way it looks. While Ikea is great for college students and folks starting out, the store continues to be a valuable resource for a number of my needs.

After selecting our remnant, we were rushed into choosing our templates prior to the installation the following day. When I noticed a spot marked with a green X, I was assured it was a small hole that would be filled with epoxy and we would never notice it. We moved forward based on that assurance. When the counters were installed, we found 10 to 15 visibly mismatched epoxy repairs and a noticeable scratch. The one repair I had specifically asked about was the worst of all. A technician came out the following week, acknowledged the repairs didn't match, and admitted our salesperson should have disclosed them -- but suggested most predated Colonial's purchase of the stone, meaning we were sold a heavily repaired remnant with zero disclosure. What followed has been four months of inexcusable customer service. I called 3 to 5 times per week and almost never heard back. When I finally reached Wendy in management on April 2, 2026, she was unaware of key details and said she'd follow up with the service department. It is now June 1, 2026, and I have not received a single callback since. I want to be fair: the counters themselves are beautiful, and every service technician who came to our home was professional and exceptional. This is purely a failure of customer service at the management level. We live 45 minutes away and have busy lives, but we are now left with no choice but to drive there in person just to find someone willing to speak with us. We were prepared to give Colonial more of our business. Instead, we have been ignored for months over an issue that -- at least in part -- was clearly their responsibility. The lack of basic decency in returning a customer's call is something I never expected from a professional company. I would urge anyone considering Colonial Marble & Granite to think carefully before trusting them with a significant purchase.

I needed a general contractor to convert one of my windows into a patio door. After getting several quotes from different companies, Rino from Alameda Construction stood out immediately. He offered fair pricing while still providing the same high‑quality details and transparency as the higher‑priced competitors. He was also extremely punctual and easy to reach for any questions. On the very day I contacted him, he arrived right on time to provide an estimate. A few days after I purchased my patio door, he prepared a clear, detailed agreement outlining exactly how the installation would be done and the expected timeline. When installation day came, Rino, Nick, and T completed the entire project in just one day. They demolished the existing structure, reframed and widened the opening, relocated an electrical outlet, and even added an outdoor light. By the end of the day, they had created the beautiful gateway from our living room to our backyard that we had always wanted. To Alameda Construction--thank you for the excellent work. We will absolutely continue hiring you for our future home projects, your work ethic and quality are 10 out of 10 on our book----Glenn and Angel.

His service was efficient, and he kept me informed with frequent progress updates which added great value to the project. I would absolutely recommend Alameda Construction--especially Rino--for future projects or even one‑off day jobs.

We hired Reico (and worked with Cindy) for a full kitchen redesign, and the most important element…read morewe asked for was an island that would seat five people comfortably, with storage on one end. We were extremely clear that the seating needed to be unobstructed--essentially, a counter-height table extension from the cabinets. The final design we approved included an apron, but no measurements were provided to explain how it would impact stool clearance. The rendering even showed five stools at the island, which gave us confidence that it would work as intended. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. Because of a poorly designed apron, it is physically impossible to fit standard counter-height stools under the island. The clearance is so low that no stool exists that both fits under the island and allows you to sit and eat comfortably. In other words, the centerpiece of our kitchen--the island seating--is a total failure. It is appalling that a professional kitchen designer would overlook such a basic and critical detail. We assumed we could trust her expertise, but that assumption has left us with an island that cannot function as designed and no reasonable options to fix it without a major renovation. If you are considering working with this company, be warned: do not assume the designer has considered the practical details. Double-check every measurement yourself, because we learned the hard way that they do not.

My husband and I met with the designer (a great lady- big picture-oriented and practical) and her recommended contractor (a knowledgeable, detail-oriented guy who took the time to explain things), and we were excited. When we received the design and estimates, we did get a sticker-shock with respect to the markups of the costs. Based on our designer/contractor interactions, however, we were still considering Reico, even with the markups! But, the level of responsiveness dropped dramatically. Before we knew it, we were informed that our designer (the great lady) was "no longer with the company" and I now have all these spam-type calls from random people I don't know at Reico. Rude.
