I had to bug them to find out if any progress had been made, after which they told me that it was unrecoverable and then wanted to charge me *$79* to get it back. I sent my MacBook Pro logic board in for a gpu failure, with explicit directions to have it replaced. After it taking them longer than advertised to diagnose and repair, they inform me that they have performed a reflow on the gpu, stress tested it to ensure it is properly fixed and shipped it back to me. They never even acknowledged my directions to them. I got back the board today, and it has the exact same problem it started with. There was a reason I stated that I need a new gpu. When the solder connections on the gpu become bad, they heat up, this heat is bad for the gpu and ruins it permanently. Fixing the solder connections of a ruined gpu won't do a damned thing. There is no way they could have tested this after they "fixed" it because my MacBook won't even start up. read more

Wow! Powerbook Medic is the top thing if you have an old Mac Powerbook and it is giving you trouble of any kind - including not working at all, they will fix it. For me, twice they have taken a Powerbook G4 (I have two), inoperable, Jake replaced parts and sent me back essentially a NEW MACHINE, even a new battery. You can't get any better service. I really wanted to put more stars on this review. I dealt with Powerbook Medic for work, through a glowing professional recommendation referencing the polite staff, swift and polished service, and quality hardware. This hasn't been entirely untrue. I work at an IT services firm, and our work sometimes includes hardware repair. Working on Apple hardware can be specialized work--it's hard to get the parts (and harder to get them for a decent price), the staff that does the work is twice as expensive, and the customers tend to be more demanding. We'd decided it'd be easier to offload this work to a firm dedicated to it. I spoke first to Sean (Shawn?), and later Kyle, both of whom were warm, charming, helpful people who seemed very capable but weren't in the decision-making position to set up a business-to-business relationship with me. The reason I spoke to both of them (and someone else in another department) so many times before I got to enter into this dialogue is because I had to leave at least three messages before I got in touch with Justin, the Operations Manager. Justin seemed baffled that I'd want to establish a personal relationship with someone at Powerbook Medic for my professional clients' very expensive equipment containing their very valuable data instead of going through the website, a stance he repeated to me twice before getting the hint that I'd like my hand held just a little bit. I had to call back twice before he remembered to set up our dealer account (and before he remembered who I was) and send the instructions so that I could copy them to my staff. By the point we were good to go, we'd had to do the work on four of the Macbooks we'd had pending ourselves. Since we were set to go and didn't have a ready source for the parts the last machine needed, I decided to have faith in my recommendation and take the plunge, setting up a 2-way, overnight-shipped, expedited ticket for the repair. I was explicit that this was an audition for our Apple business, which gets not-insignificant traffic. It was explained to me that I'd get a call when the box arrived, where I'd be informed of the diagnostic results and be allowed to confirm the work to be done and payment. The good news? They work fast. I mean FAST, doing excellent work, with gorgeous parts. The bad news? I didn't hear about it until the package was already in transit, on its way back to the office. They forgot to call at all--I got a paid invoice in my email, and guessed something was wrong. It was explained to me that I tacitly waived my confirmation call by writing "expedite" on the box--which I'd done on the phone rep's advice. Because we didn't get the confirmation of work, we didn't have the opportunity to confirm the work with our client, nor to transfer money into the expense account that the debit card we'd given them was tied to. We incurred a nice, fat, $35 overdraft fee. Who's the only person who could do anything about this? Justin. Who decided to use poor, awkward Kyle as an intermediary to offer me a $22 credit for a $35 mistake? Justin. Who didn't care when I wrote a message explaining (and proving) the total of our fees and our discomfort with dealing with a company that doesn't do what it says, the way that it says it will? Justin. As I said in my message to Powerbook Medic, a $13 loss won't sink my company. What could sink us is if their mistake had been more sensitive. What if this had involved a data purge, or if our client's check had bounced or they'd refused payment? What if this laptop were involved in a lawsuit that the client suddenly discovered would be invalidated if the laptop were repaired? All of these things are things that have happened to me in my work--near-disasters that were averted only by our best-practices based habit of confirming work with the client before executing it. I'm not even mentioning that their action forced us to violate our policy of checking in with the client before the work is done. Good thing it was good work. This had the potential to be a lot more than a $13 mistake, and honestly, the attitude toward it transformed what should've been a minor error into a stinging indictment of Powerbook Medic management's attitude toward customer service, communication, and anything beyond the immediate bottom line. Time to reevaluate, guys. We'll give Powerbook Medic another shot sometime in the future, with a low-risk job, because again: great prices, great parts, great work, great repair staff. They've lost the 5-15 monthly Apple hardware jobs we were going to send them for now, however, which adds expense we have to pass to clients, but--better expensive and well done than cheap, unpredictable, and rude. Sent my macbook pro in for logic board repair. Mac was shutting down and restarting on startup and during high stress video use. Very little communication from these guys on initial repair and took 2 weeks as opposed to the 3 days advertised and was completed only after I sent a number of emails and phone calls. Mac was returned and it immediately exhibited the exact same problem I had sent it in for. Called them and sent it back. Again no communication until I emailed and called a number of times then they sent it back in the same condition, with the same problem. Sent a video of the symptoms and .... no word. I do not doubt that they attempted to fix this but could not and so the 350 + was for diagonstics? After the post above and an email , powerbook medics refunded my fees. Must it take this to do the right thing? Thank you yelp and Powerbook medics but surely i will not do business with them again as the communication (lack of) and delay has taken its toll. The staff there has shown incompetence at all levels, from the ability to read emails, to the ability to diagnose problems, to the ability to talk between departments, and to talk to customers. Read on for my experience. My Macbook has a faulty sensor that was causing erratic behavior, but it was working. This error was reported in the Apple Hardware Test (AHT). After removing the battery and disks, I sent in the computer to have the sensor repaired. The technicians never attempted to repair the sensor and instead claimed that the display GPU wasn't working! Having sent the computer to them in working condition, I knew that they must have not even checked the emails I sent that described the problems, and broke something in their diagnosis. The technician then said I would have to pay shipping to get the computer back that they broke! He even offered to find a replacement logic board, as if I would be satisfied with that! After several phone calls and emails, I got an email from the manager of the repairs department who said "we performed a reflow and the computer display is working. there was some miscommunication between the technicians". In the end, I was never able to talk to Kyle, the manager, on the phone. Instead, he had the receptionist place me on hold then relay information back to me. What kind of manager won't pick up the phone and talk to a customer? He then offered to send it back to me without repair and without charging shipping. I wrote back to him, described to him in detail, what the cause of the problem was; a sensor was causing the error, and asked if they would please look at it again. He ignored the email and shipped back the computer that day. In retrospect, I can tell that they make their money by reflowing boards they can salvage and if that doesn't work they will charge you for replacement parts. They use scare tactics ("your display isn't working, would you like to buy a replacement logic board from us?") to get you to buy their parts instead of fixing them. Their claim that they do logic board repairs is bogus, it seems, because they couldn't diagnose a simple sensor, or replace it, instead just giving up after doing a unnecessary reflow. Very Slow Poor communications Very disappointed. After approving an estimate (MacBook Pro with spill damage) I paid for expedited shipping to their site. No communications as to when I would get it back. So I get a quote on expected repairs which I approved. Then after 10 days I tried to get update after I could not get an estimate on the web due to WEB issue. The response I got back was "It's withing the 5-7 business days from start of repair" (not not time of receipt of unit). I let them know about the web error and it was fixed (to their credit). then after waiting about another week or two I had heard nothing back so I inquired again and was told they were unable to repair the board and I needed to approve the added repair (which were actually the same parts they originally quoted but a new logic board instead of used. Today I got email repair was done and after checking they repaired with used board. There are no status updates as your unit works through the system. Also the final email I received indicated to call them and arrange payment or use a link provided. The link was to PayPal CC processing (which I do not like to use) I called the number on their home page and no menu items to make payment arrangements. I'm guessing that not taking payments directly they are a small operation. The whole experience was a hassle. Assuming I get overnight for my $85.00 shipping the whole cycle took 4 weeks to replace a logic board and small power interface board. read more

I dropped my MacBook Pro and needed the logic board replaced. Their online symptom estimator said that repair would be slightly under 400.00 so I shipped it in and as soon as it got there, I got an email stating that the low price is for refurbished logic board (ok with me) but there are none in stock and they do not know when they will get it. Time passes, no logic board BUT for 900.00 they can fix it with a NEW one. 6 months they had my laptop waiting for a refurbished board and none came. I finally had to call and ask for them to return it and I had to pay shipping. Worst part? I get it back, with a battery that isn't mine that is damaged and peeling apart. Don't use them, they bait and switch and play games. Complete waste of time, use someone else. Very disappointed! read more

I currently have my computer sitting at Powerbook Medic collecting dust. I have the same gripes about expediency and customer service issues. They have had my computer for a month! They promise it would be fixed on their site within 9-10 business days. Not at all remotely true! I left a message in on the ticket to Cody, my repair guy, on November 20th. It's December 5th and I had to call in to speak to Cody, who was not available, to find out why in two weeks I have not received a response. The guy on the phone sounded like the guy in office space who could care less that you are having a problem with their unfulfilled promises. I let him know that he should at least TRY to sound like he cared about the customers and not just say, I'll tell Cody to respond to you. The last message on the ticket from Cody was that they got my Macbook Pro to power on (which it didn't when I sent it in, good right?), but that they had to do a hard shutdown to keep it turned off. The guy on the phone told me they sent it off to be repaired and that it came back unrepairable. That's funny, that was never told to me by Cody in the ticket! I asked him why he had different information than I did! So apparently, it was working better and then they broke it even more?!?!?! I thought Cody WAS the repair guy, why was it sent out for repair? Bottom line is, I don't trust them, they proved to me they don't give a crap about your or your computer, the lie on the tickets and don't think they need to tell you everything. Just dishonest company with horrible customer service. 9-10 business days?? They should take that off of their website and not make any promises. I really wish there was some action we could take on companies who over promise and never deliver. I'm a web developer so my computer is everything to me. I've been using my wife's Macbook but still dont have my video editing software and other specialty software to use for my business. I've asked for the computer back and actually thanks to the previous poster here, I checked out BT&T and they are $100 cheaper and he gave them a good review. So i'll try them! read more

Excellent Service. If you are trying to save an old macbook I think it's worth giving this guys an opportunity to fix it. Repairing logical boards isn't trivial and often can't be done. I had 5 year old macbook that tried to save and sent it to them. They fixed and it worked well for 3 months... then the issues started and I sent it back within warranty. Kurt confirmed it was beyond repair. What I really liked about this guys is that despite them not being able to fix it the second time, I had an impeccable experience. Ordered a logic board and set of tools to try to fix my iBook G4 myself. I filled out the info in a hurry and made a mistake on the address. Okay, my bad, fair enough. But the address I filled out does not exist. Powerbook Medic shipped it UPS, and instead of saying "Hey, this address doesn't exist, we should return it to the sender" UPS just dumped it off at their approximation of the address and called it a day. My main gripe is with UPS, but Powerbook Medic was less than stellar on rectifying the situation. I got some nice emails from customer service (after complaining) but in the end it was basically "Sort it out with UPS, if it comes back to us we'll mail it out to you again." Sixty some odd bucks for absolutely nothing. Complaint to UPS only yielded an internal "investigation" that found them blameless, case closed. Long story short, I gave up on my old Mac and got a new Airbook. So there's a happy ending of sorts. But thoroughly disappointed with this experience. read more

I have been to PowerBook Medic three times now to have my i-Devices repaired. I have been pleased with the work and repair times. When I took my iPod classic there to be repaired, I was told it would take 2-3 days. I agreed and left it there. Thirty minutes later they texted my phone notifying me the repair was complete. Whoa! I can easily see where a service business like this can get criticized. You just can't please everyone. Also working at a service related business and I've seen some people who, no matter what you do, you just can't make them happy. I would suggest to those cheap people who don't want to buy the new parts, but aren't willing to take the chance on a used part, to dig a little deeper into those shallow pockets and pony up the money to buy the new part or go shop eBay for the part yourself. read more

Do not use this repair service! I repair iPhones but do not have the resources to perform component level repairs on a logic board. I sent in an iPhone 4s for logic board repair which they were unable to repair. Which is fine, I understand. What i do not understand is why I received my phone back missing its SIM tray, and many internal parts including the rear camera and internal screws. I guess they figured since they couldn't repair the phone they could help themselves to parts that they could use for their business. In my opinion this is theft. The technician/business stole from me. Like I said I'm okay with a phone being passed the point of repair but I'm not okay with being taken advantage of. Horrible! Do not use them. I regret it! I had to send back my laptop 3 times because I kept getting it back in non-working condition. My laptop was BRAND NEW and now it is deemed useless. I am so frustrated and upset with them. Powerbook Medic will not fix your laptop properly and will cause you a major headache. DO NOT USE! You're better off using an Apple certified provider. They are not an authorized third party repair service. Apple will not touch your computer after knowing you used Powerbook Medic. I am not out over $800 and countless hours of time. This site has crazy disparities between reviewers! I guess this company has a few gems working for them, because I have nothing but great things to say. I ordered a screen for a 1st generation Nook because a student broke one at the high school I work at. Most places were selling the screen alone at about the value of an entire Nook, but Powerbook Medic had it at an appropriate price for a years old e-reader that never worked that well to begin with. I purchased it for them. It got damaged in transit (my mailman never liked me), so I called them and explained my problem. The very knowledgeable lady on the other end of the line asked me a few solid questions about installation, and then promptly sent me a new screen. It's worth mentioning that I wasn't talking to overseas tech support (not all bad, but it's hard to troubleshoot a router through a poor English accent) or put on hold. My call was answered instantly and I got what I needed immediately. The screen installation went along smoothly, and I was able to impress my boss and the kid's parents, who only owed me $20 instead of the $50 - $100 the school would have charged for a replacement. I look forward to taking advantage of Powerbook Medic's pricing and service when one of my students inevitably breaks something valuable again. read more

I had spilled liquid on my expensive MacBook Pro 2013 model, I had taken it all apart trying to fix it and clean it myself and thought ALL WAS LOST! So I sent it off to Powerbook Medic to see if they are as good as they state they are and as good as some people stated in reviews. Powerbook Medic has a great guarantee, so I thought I didn't really have anything to lose. After shipping the MBP to them and waiting longer than anticipated, Powerbook Medic, said it doesn't look good, they spotted corrosion issues and a questionable battery that I hadn't spotted. I used magnification to look for corrosion, and so I was a little suspect, but thought I would rather be safe than sorry. At my request they took a second look. I told them it was OK to not fix the right channel speaker motherboard connector that I had broken. (DO NOT TRY AND REPAIR THESE Retina MacBook Pros!!!!, they have incredibly tiny connections and the case is VERY densely packed. I have repaired laptop and notebook computers for over a decade and this Apple technology is way beyond my abilities.) I thought I was going to have to scrap the MBP, 16 Gigabyte .75 Terabyte SSD Retina display MBP about $3,000 worth of high tech quality. Powerbook Medic told me that they thought they could fix everything except the audio connector on the right channel speaker on the motherboard. I told them to give it their best effort! (It was my fault the motherboard speaker connector was broken, so I hoped for the best!) Powerbook Medic tried and succeeded and cost me about 25% less than they estimated!!! I didn't review Powerbook Medic immediately, I have waited almost 5 months, running the MBP 24 hours a day, day after day, trying to see if I can find a flaw with their work. NO FLAWS! The right channel speaker doesn't work, which is OK with me, I use Airplay or earbuds anyway!! Powerbook Medic saved my investment for less than they originally estimated and I have NOT found any flaw with their work! The only complaint I have is that I had to push and pursue them to get them to do the work and they took longer than I expected. (That is no big deal. Be prepared to expedite the work and to wait longer than expected, but it is WORTH IT!) I had tried a local guy, which was a total disaster, but Powerbook Medic did a GREAT job! MY RECOMMENDATION: Avoid this company. COMPLAINTS: 1) They shipped me a part was damaged (in condition other then what was advertised). 2) Their advertised satisfaction policies are illogical or nonexistent. DETAIL: I purchased a replacement back case for my iPad from PowerbookMedic that they listed was in "Grade A" condition, which they define as "Scratches possible, but no defects, heavy wear or dents)." The part I received however was 1) bent and 2) the top edge has many gouges on it. You can't see how visible the gouges are on the face once installed, nor the bend itself until you fully install the part, which involves sealing the iPad shut again. As soon as I did this, I noticed the large gap on the front right of my iPad. You can even see the base of the volume buttons through the gap. There are many tools on the market to open iPads, some will leave damage, others will not. It also requires some skill. It is clear that they used the wrong type of tool to remove the part from the donor iPad, or the employee was not skilled at doing the removal without causing this type of damage. I sent them a picture of part installed and informed them that I was not at all happy with what I had received. They responded to me with a message stating that "Our parts are checked by several departments prior to shipping out." I don't believe that this is true. If it is, then it appears they are intending to send parts out in worse condition then advertised, as this is what I received. They also said: "We must receive photos of parts that are received in a condition other than what was listed, prior to installation." This is of course logical for some parts, but for the back case of an iPad and the damage in such a way, you could not 1) tell that the part was actually bent or 2) tell if the gouges would be visible on the outside of the case. Because of these facts, their policy is unreasonable. They also list right on their product page for this item "Satisfaction guaranteed unless otherwise specified." No where did it say that satisfaction was not guaranteed. Therefore they have advertised a satisfaction guarantee policy, but have not honored it, when I made them aware of the condition the part that I received was in. read more

I couldn't find the parts that I needed from any other company, so I found this one via a Google search. Based on previous ratings, I knew they probably would be best to go to for the parts I needed. I ordered 6 very specific parts, which were shipped within 24 hours. The parts arrived in a couple days, so I was amazed at the speed to start off! All the parts arrived in a padded package and were all shipped properly so they would not be damaged. I used all of the parts I ordered and the customer's unit is now working properly once again! I have had only one experience with Powerbook Medic. I was getting a computer repaired for a friend of mine who isn't quite tech-savvy. I ordered the repair online with expedited shipping. They sent the box, fixed the computer, and sent it back. They fixed the problem and did it for a fairly reasonable price. The issue ended up being something less than I anticipated. I have only one issue: it took almost a week to get the box required to ship the computer. It was definitely NOT an overnight deliver. However, that could easily have been more of a UPS issue than PBM. Overall, they were responsive via email; they were fair (they didn't screw me by fixing something that didn't need fixing); they were knowledgeable (that is rare in my town when it comes to repairing Macs). If you want something on your Mac/iPhone/iPad fixed and don't want to send it in to Apple, at least consider these guys. read more

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from - as my experience was nothing but pleasant. I sent my iPhone 6s to them to have the logic board repaired (I shorted something out while trying to replace the battery myself). They received the phone via UPS on a Monday. They diagnosed the problem, confirmed they could fix it, and started repairing it on Tuesday. Completed repairs on Wednesday. Had it shipped out back to me on Wednesday night, and I had the phone in hand again on Friday afternoon. They kept me informed via email every step of the way, the price was reasonable, and I was only without my phone for 7 days. I would without a doubt use Powerbook Medic again for logic board issues and would recommend them to friends. read more

As a Graphics Artist, I can say without a doubt, that I love working on my Apple Mac Book Pro and have so for just a little over five years, with out occurring any major hard ware problems until mid February 2017, the date is important as according to Apple, they no longer provide support for hard ware on any Apple products 5 years are older which mine just missed, but they would provide and authorize apple service company that does repair Apple hardware. I took it too one of the companies and after paying a docking fee for a quote for repairing the hard drive issue and full diagnostic, which I excepted, and they discovered found the GPU on the logic board was faulty and gave me a quote of $1000 to repair it. I am not fully knowledgeable of hardware cost so I searched the net to for other related prices to repair my laptop's mother board, and located Power Book Medic. Their cost to repair the board was one third the cost I was quoted by the authorized company and they have been around for a number of years. They Ran into a problem with shipping routing and some components were missing, my fault for not seeing (send nothing but the board), they need to make policy stand out a little more. In the end the parts were replaced by PBM, and my mac runs like new and the color is more vivid than I remember, needless to say I am happy to have it up and running hopefully for the next six years. I bought a new logic board from this company that included the homebutton which is married to the logic board. The parcel arrives and the homebutton cable is cut in half and made to look like it was not damaged. The logic board did not include the shields/screws that go with the board. When I confronted the seller, the seller tries to blame me for the homebutton being broken and claims that logic boards does not come with shields (Clearly the shields go with the logic board since they are there to protect the components inside). This is not a serious company that i really do not recommend! read more

Shipped my 2011 Macbook Pro to Powerbook Medic on Dec 22 for repair of a "no video" issue. They received it on Dec 27th. They contacted me on Dec 29th to get my approval for repair, which I consented to. On Jan 10th they contacted me and said they were unable to repair my logic board and I would need a new logic board which would cost $815.95. I was disappointed, but authorized the repair, even though it was going to cost about what my laptop was worth if working. I still had not heard anything from them so I contacted them on Jan 18th. They said they were still waiting on parts and weren't sure when they'd be able to repair my computer. I'd had enough. I had them ship the computer to another repair place. I could never in good conscience recommend that anyone use Powerbook Medic. Ever. This was a horrible experience. read more

Great job! Instead of paying a local shop $150 for labor to install a hard drive cable I sought after one online to install myself. Don't waste your money, completely useless parts. PowerBookMedic sent me a keyboard that only partially works. They claim the product was tested and in working condition. Some keys d not type and some keys type things that are not even the key. I tested it with a different logic board and the same problem exists, I tried my logic board on a working keyboard of a friend and my logicboard is good. Don't trust these scammers. read more

Order placed on 11/4. Email with tracking info came on 11/7. Delivery date to be 11/10. Its now 11/18 and my package has been sent BACK to the seller. Considering next week is a holiday, I'll be lucky to see it before December. Spoke with Nikki and Wes (from PB Medic) - both did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. As other reviewers have stated, their canned response is to "take it up with the shipping company". Apparently my only option is to wait until PB receives my package and decides to resend. Don't waste your time with this company. You're MUCH better off going with a reputable site like AMAZON. I sent these guys quite a few boards over the years. They have repaired them or replaced them successfully and pretty consistently. I've spend a few thousand dollars with this service. The last one, their tech overlooked something. After I received it back, I contacted them immediately. They tried to blame me for the problem, saying I did it while installing. Well, that was not the case and when I rebutted their attempt to avoid responsibility. One of their representatives told me they would not provide services to me further. Once again, I've spent thousands of dollars here and sent in over a dozen repairs to this company. Very unprofessional and extremely ungrateful. Since then, I found another service provider to replace them and my experience has been amazing. When a business refuses to do business with someone, they need to be reminded that everyone is replaceable. I'll leave two stars for both years they did good work. Beware and definitely shop around, this is not your only option! read more

Repairing Apple products when they fall out of warranty or AppleCare, they have come through for me more quickly and less expensively than the Apple Store option for my iphone, iMac and MBA several times. I ordered a logic board but I was not sent the track I contacted the assistance 2 times but never an answer I have no words seriousness of 0

This company has several serious problems, one being poor communication the second either outright dishonesty or woeful ignorance. In mid-October, my 2012 Macbook Pro suffered severe water damage when a water bottle opened in my backpack during a work flight. This is my only computer and I need it for work, I was screwed, but Powerbook Medic seemed like a good choice at the time. Communication with them is not great, my repair person would not go into any detail as to what was wrong, just gave a list of parts, until I pressed with further emails. If the charges to repair/replace are high, which they are for computers, give your customers information. Don't just send them a quote, explain with at least one sentence why their logic board cannot be repaired and needs to be entirely replaced. These are the kind of things I would have to constantly email to clarify, not a big deal, but when you are paying $800+ to repair a laptop, you want to know all the specifics on what is wrong. Invoice stated: logic board is replaced with a "new" board (this is where the dishonesty/misinformation comes in), used top case with keyboard, used LVDS cable, used battery and labor, and the prices were reasonable. I get my laptop back, and in LESS THAN ONE HOUR IT FAILS. Screen dies, I try my own fixes, take it to the Apple Store, solutions from Powerbook Medic tech, nothing. They send me a shipping label (3-5 days shipping), then I wait. 6 days later (it was returned Thanksgiving week to be fair), I email and ask what is happening. On 11/28 tech emails and says my laptop was sent to warranty repair, he will let me know. Nine days later I have heard nothing, and on 12/7 I call and learn the chip on the logic board has failed, so it is replaced and after I complain, I get expedited shipping. Laptop is returned a second time, everything works, but less than a month later on 1/4, it FAILS AGAIN! Second time my "new" (as stated on the invoice) logic board has failed. Third time my laptop is sent to Powerbook Medic. It arrives on 1/9, I hear nothing so I call four days later on the 13th and complain that if my repaired computer has failed twice in less than a month, my unit should be a priority. My tech has left for the day, but they promise he will call Monday. End of workday on Monday my repair tech calls and explains the refurbished board they used was from a company with which they have had lots of problems, as he states "crap products". I am surprised, I was told my logic board was NEW, not refurbished, to which he says that is a mistake, they only sell refurbished, I was misinformed. A different logic board, one that is refurbished by Powerbook Medic in house will be used and my laptop should be sent back to me soon. My invoice says "New" next to a $499.95 Logic Board, 2.6GHz, Core i7 replacement part. This "misinformation" seems to be a pretty large mistake if it appears on an invoice. I can only come to two conclusions, either Powerbook Medic is A) lying to their customers intentionally about the condition of the parts they use in repairs or B) they are inept when issuing invoices. If you paid over $800 for repairs on your car and the same part repeatedly kept breaking down to the point you could not drive your car, you would be furious. I am that person, because I need my laptop for my job. Because Powerbook Medic is not an Apple Authorized Service Provider I cannot have Apple do any repairs, so I am stuck with this company. Every time my laptop breaks down because of the junk part they repaired it with, I am without my laptop for weeks. The only concession they give is expedited shipping (when I demand it), but if it takes 4-5 days for someone to look at my laptop I feel my patronage is being taken advantage of and I wish I had gone with a different company for my repairs. Don't take a chance on Powerbook Medic, it's not worth it. read more
