As someone who has worked as a dental assistant, I am very particular. Dr. Joh had multiple locations (Clinton Twp) but closed it and this is now his main location. When you walk in your greeted by staff and the check in process is easy. For new patients, you're given a tablet with a few documents to sign and complete - super quick! Their waiting area is so chic, yet comfortable. The decor is above what you'd expect at a typical dental office with random chairs for patients to sit in. Once you complete your new patient process, you're given a tour of the facility. Although it's on the smaller side, the fact that the staff takes the time to walk you through and show you various rooms/bathrooms, makes you feel all the more comfortable and welcomed. The exam rooms are clean and spacious. I had xrays done and pictures taken with an oral camera, that shows you areas of plaque build up, etc. The hygienist (Kayla) walks you through the whole process from xrays to cleaning. She does a great and thorough job. Dr. Joh comes in and examines you, asks if there are areas of concerns and reviews the xrays. At the end of the examine and cleaning, you're given a goodie bag with items (reusable cup, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and sanitizer wipes) - just that extra effort. Unlike some, they allow payments (as long as you show good faith on your part). I like some hygienists more than others, but it's more to do with personality than care quality. Dr, Freeman is the best. He is very personable and makes going to the dentist bearable. Please get everything in writing before you get any work done…read more I was told I needed two crowns and was assured by the office that my dual insurance would cover them. After the work was completed, I was billed $650 -- only to find out the pre-authorization for coverage had actually been denied months earlier. Northstar submitted it, never told me about the denial, and then resubmitted the same paperwork multiple times after the work was done. Each time, it was denied again. When I called to question it, the office refused to take responsibility, saying they "can't manage every dual-insurance situation." Their only solution was to offer to transfer my records elsewhere. Please learn from my experience -- always double-check with your insurance company directly and get everything in writing before agreeing to any treatment here. This is a "puppy mill" for dentistry; you are in and out for a cleaning in 15 mins. You are a number here. Please know they pay you with gift cards to write a good review.
