I bought from Gage's over a year ago with positive results - clearly, they've had some personnel changes since then. Communication and customer service were exceedingly poor. After contacting them both by phone and email and providing detailed specs, I was virtually ignored when I arrived on site, even after confirming that someone would be there to assist me. The manager, Christopher, has the "my time is much more important than yours" attitude which is downright offensive. We are a small remodeling business and, as such, wear many hats. Our time is at least as important. All in, I wasted at least 3 hours on these guys, between phone calls, emails and 60 miles of driving to view their product. Save yourself some grief and avoid them - they have lots of competition and there is always someone better down the road. Something tells me that they won't be in business much longer anyway. Turning down potential business relationships and income streams is hardly the best approach to success. And your time (and money) is definitely more valuable than Christopher's! read more

While I can imagine worse granite fabricators, some of the issues I had with them were large and glaring and inconvenienced me the homeowner considerably. I used Gage's to install a vanity counter top and my kitchen counter tops. The vanity was done well, although the side pieces should have been cut down to be more narrow. I was not asked about this and so I am stuck with what I got. Additionally, one of the side pieces isn't flush with the front of the vanity top. Not satisfactory attention to detail. In the kitchen, where they were working with two slabs of granite that cost a whopping $49 sq ft, they owed it to me and my investment to be extensively more careful. They did a good job using the computer to help me select the best part of the slabs for the surfaces, and everything was going to line up very well. However, after the install, it was clear they had installed one piece 180 degrees BACKWARDS. This was indicative of a severe process flaw or poor on-site supervision. Either of which increases the risk to the consumer that uses this company. I realized this mistake before the epoxy had dried, and tried feverishly to reach someone at the Gage's to provide guidance and remediation. No answer. They scheduled someone to come back out at at a later date, and they were able to successfully cut out the piece, rotate it, and reinstall it pointing the right direction. Unfortunately, in the process of cutting it out, they cut into the facade of one of my brand new drawers. Nobody informed me of this, I just had to find it. Poor accountability. Still in the kitchen, they created a seam in a location where there was not a seam in our mock ups. Normally a seam would be where corners meet. This is out in the open and even worse than that, it is an awful, jagged, wide seam that is simply ridiculous. Fortunately for Gage's and myself, my granite has a flat, leathered finish. Because of this, the seam is not as visible as it would be if this was a smoother, more polished granite. Hopefully my experience was an exception and not the rule. Maybe they didn't deserve a "1" but their overall score should not be higher than a 3 until they improve their processes, take responsibility for their screw-ups, and improve their supervision. read more

Gage's Granite is the best. Manuel installed a beautiful backsplash for me yesterday. We used 3 x 5 glass subway tile and it was not an easy material with which to work. The result is exactly what I wanted and it is gorgeous. Not only was the work pure perfection, Manuel was courteous throughout. In addition, the work area was left spotless. Had them install a large area of granite kitchen counter tops a few years ago--had some initial irritations with them, but decided at the time to live with it just because they were so silly to deal with. I think it is good to review the product some time later from installation, to see how things have done since then--one of the issues is that they failed to install my undermount sink flush up against the bottom of the granite, and it has a crevice that continually gets mildew and gunk stuck there--this is not something you note right away. A general list of their problems that would make me point customers to other installers: 1) I made special arrangements around work schedule for install day and was assured by salesman this was firm, only to be called by a secretary and told it was pushed back--when I said this wouldn't work, was told I would then be put back 2 more weeks!! 2) installers arrived but did not speak English, so communications were nil. 3) installers brutalized my new cabinetry and sawed into newly installed backsplash drywall, narrowly missing some pipes. They were going at top speed of course, not careful. 4) The so called craftsman who cut my slabs arranged the most attractive parts to the back, where they are hardly visible. They also filled some chips/chunks ( they apparently damaged slabs during the cutting)and did a poor repair--what's one to do when they've already cut the slab and you've been waiting weeks for install??!!! You're stuck living with it. There was no QA--no supervisor, manager came over to see how the install was. 5) Their contract indicates you have to tell them problems prior to final payment, but they are calling within 30 minutes of final install to demand final payment, so you don't really have a lot of time to look--especially when racing back to work. Maybe this is the standard in granite installers--it's not like one does this often to be able to compare. Their shop went out of business in my neighborhood, so the above might be the reason. read more

Let me start off by saying that I did have a problem with Gage's initial installation. There seems to have been a problem with measuring or communication. I am still not sure what the root cause was. However, after some back and forth with the sales guy / installer, I called the office and spoke with Marco. Marco came over to the house to see what was going on, and after about 30 minutes, we had a plan on how to fix the problem. He seems to be a very solution oriented person, which is nice in the crazy world of contractors. After a small bit of time, the problem was fixed and looks great. I wish more contractors were like Marco. He was very friendly and professional. Hell, even my General Contractor was impressed with him. For anyone who is looking for some granite, this is where to go. Everyone makes mistakes, but professionals recognize their mistakes and do what is right. read more

I needed some granite counter tops installed in a bathroom. I called Gage's because they were close to my home and spoke with a salesman on the phone. The next day I went out to their yard and picked out a slab. The next day they called to say the slab was not big enough and I had to pick out a different slab. I told them I'd be there at 1pm. I got to their slab yard a little after 1pm and no one was there. I waited a while then went on in to an open warehouse and picked out my slab. This is very dangerous and I'm shocked they left it open. Anyway, I finally got a quote, accepted it and had installation. My parents were at my house to let the installers in to do their work. When I got home from work I immediately noticed they had make at least a half-dozen large, deep scrapes/dents in my walls. I took pictures and emailed them to my sales rep. I've installed granite counter tops in my home at least 5 times prior and never had walls damaged. The next day I stopped by the office on Forest Lane and spoke with my sales rep. He said they'd send someone out to repair the walls. About a week later someone called me to schedule an appointment to repairs the walls. l left work to go home and meet this repair person, waited an hour, and he never showed up. I am disappointed in this company's service and will not use them again. read more
