The town was cute, and being from a small town myself, I really enjoyed the history I was able to take in... which brings me to Blake Pharmacy. This pharmacy has been in the Blake family for many, many years, and while it has many charms that you expect to see in a small town pharmacy such as a soda fountain. RadioShack, friendly people, and regular drug store items. I was told they have added some high-tech automation to serve the customers better. At this point, a few things probably caught your eye...soda fountain and RadioShack. I took a lot of photos. I thought RadioShack had closed but not in an aisle here. We even found a really cool speaker system that is from RadioShack, which is the perfect birthday present. The soda fountain even has some food, and I tried the pimento cheese that is made fresh each morning, and it was very good. They eat it with potato chips, which is strange to me because I would choose crackers, but hey, they also love Skyline Chili, so...um... I'm kidding!! Anyway, if you find yourself in West Union Oh-hi-a (as they say it there), stop in, grab a shake at the sofa fountain, and sit and people watch... then go to the Blake Hallmark Store next door.

A woman was helping him and said he would need to come back in the afternoon. He did, and the woman said that they had it sorted out. Then a "manager" stepped in. I'm putting "manager" in quotes because this man definitely was not a leader or a role model in any way, and instead quite rude and disrespectful. I'm not sure of his name, but he threatened to call the police on my grandfather. He told him "not to talk to his employees like that," when he hadn't done anything wrong. The order was getting squared away. The "manager" also complained that "the whole pharmacy can hear you," as well as told my grandfather that he was in the military and he was going to kick him out of the store. He even got in his face. Nose to nose with a 90 year old customer taking care of an exchange with another employee, can you imagine? What a douche. The transaction was already being handled fine, he didn't need to step in and definitely didn't need to be a jerk. Now, my grandfather is 90 years old. My grandmother is older. Was he (my grandfather) talking loudly? He is a little hard of hearing so yeah, probably. Was he being rude or disrespectful? No. He ordered a mobility device and received a different one than he ordered. It's fair that he would want to exchange it for the correct one. I'm not sure what sad life this "manager" has that he thinks it's OK to threaten a 90 year old man, but what a jerk! Smith's is never busy anyway, so you'd think they'd want to treat their customers better. CVS is just a few blocks away and they definitely have better customer service. I'll make sure to tell everyone about this interaction and make sure none of my friends or family in the area go back to Smith's. I have worked in customer service for over a decade and it's not hard to have a little respect for your customer and treat them kindly. Hopefully this man gets reprimanded or fired, because he deserves the worst.

The best hours to come are first thing in the morning before 9am or late at night after 9pm. That's when it's the least busiest and the most quiet. Now here is why I gave it 3 stars there are never enough check outs open. You either have all the self check outs shut down and 3-4 human operated ones open or you have 1-3 human operated ones open and maybe 2 self check outs working. On extremely busy days this causes lines to form all around the store which means your in there for 45min-1hr just trying to check out and that sucks. The older greeters at the door are always nice and welcoming with a smile on their face which is super nice. However sometimes there are younger ones at the door and their attitude is repulsive and unwelcoming. If your wanting a quick in and out shop, you don't wanna come here. If you got patience to wait a while to check out then have at it.
