Saturday before New Year's Eve we decided to leave the hunting camp and head out to Gain's Ridge Dinner Club in Camden Alabama. We had a fantastic evening. Service was awesome and our server was super sweet. We even forgave her for the Auburn sweatshirt she wore. She was going to school there, so it made sense. The food was good. It is nothing fancy, but it was executed well. Sometimes simple foods done right are the best and the hardest to do. The menu has things like fried pickle appetizers, burgers, simple steaks and catfish. I liked it. I don't always need to be fancy, but this is fancy for this community. I am from Arkansas so I know this type of fancy. I imagine this place is jam-packed at prom and around holidays. Look, this is probably the best restaurant in the county, at least one of them. This is rural country. I respect that. I am a redneck at heart, and by my rearing in Arkansas. I grew up in the woods. This is high end country cooking. The house is also beautiful. The staff are friendly and accommodating too. We had a good time. You should too. read more

Excellent experience at a true Black Belt treasure. This place is very fancy and genuinely is a restaurant inside an old home. They do not have a kids menu or kids cups, etc, so know that ahead of time. The food is very good, I frequently get the ribeye as I did this time and it is always cooked. Good with a nice, char flavor. The menu is a bit limited from what you might expect, but that is due to the location and resources, I'm sure. We got the fried pickle appetizer and they were very fresh and homemade and delicious. The entrées were both delicious as well as the black bottom pie we got for dessert. Our server was very friendly and attentive, as were the hosts of the restaurant. This is a great experience for a fancy dinner in the middle of nowhere. This restaurant is inside an Antebellum home built in the 1800s and it is absolutely the quintessential Southern historic setting for a great meal. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. My entree of shrimp fettuccine was solid. That being said, the star of the show was the Blackbottom pie. This was on Southern Living's 100 things to eat before you die and I completely agree. Everything was perfect. The place is impressive and the Kennedys know how to run a restaurant. Our server, Anna, was delightful and we enjoyed visiting with owner Wes Kennedy. Both of us enjoyed a fish dish -- she fried, me grilled. Both said it was among our best fish ever. The white sauce is especially good. Looking forward to another road trip there soon. read more

Great service , great food, great atmosphere, what more could you ask for. Had the ribeye, cooked perfect well seasoned, one of the best gin tonics I've ever had, for Dirt had the key lime pie in my wife had the black bottom pie, all were great. Drove over an hour only to be turned down because we didn't have reservations. Website doesn't say anything about reservations only. It was only my husband and I, seems like they could have squeezed us in even if we had to wait a while. They definitely don't care about their customers. My husband and I made a reservation for dinner for our anniversary. Took a while after entering before someone acknowledged us and we didn't know whether it was a seat yourself type of place or what so we just waited until someone came to take us to our table after 10 mins or so. It is nicely decorated and makes you feel like you are back in time. There are a few different rooms that tables are placed in. The rolls were Parker house style yeast rolls and were delicious. Salad was great. We both had steaks. Mine was pretty good but husbands was not. He said it had a lot of fat and gristle. Baked potatoes were very good. Wish they had more side selections like vegetables though. Was a nice dinner but next time, I would like to try something else to eat. read more

I hate to be the first one to give a bad review but since there are only a few reviews, I don't think it will matter much. Let's start with the supposedly sweet tea, it was tasteless!! Very weak and very little sugar, the appetizer, we ordered fried green tomatoes and crab claws, the tomatoes were delicious, the claws not so much, fishy and gritty. The salad comes with the meal and of course it tastes like it came from a bag, except there was a half of an egg and a couple of carrot slices, the only reason I ate some of it was because of the homemade thousand island dressing. Entree was shrimp etouffee, the shrimp tasted like dirt and the sauce had come apart in the preparation so it had a weird texture and the herbed rice, tasted very plain, the ribeye was thin and had way too much seasoning,the only redeeming qualities were the fresh bread and the delicious black bottom pie!! I really expected some cool decorations from the buildings past but it was poorly decorated and pretty boring but the people really showed up for this place and everyone knew everyone, that was cool. read more

This is a very quaint and great place to eat. Everything that we had was really good . My steak was delicious ( although I prefer them a little thicker). The Key Lime Pie is the best that I have ever had. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 there are no green vegetables on the menu. They really need to add something like green beans and broccoli to there menu in order to serve a well rounded meal. With all this said, I intend to go back. This is one of the 100 places to eat in Alabama before you die restaurants. It's located in Camden which is a pretty town and the restaurant is an a 170+ year old house so I decided to carry my wife for our anniversary. The fried green tomatoes were some of the best we've ever had. We both had a ribeye, which was flavorful and juicy. It was decorated nicely for Christmas and the staff was friendly. read more

First time to eat here. Steak was excellent! Ate mine medium with nothing on it! Ate every bite! Key lime pie was the best I've had! Shrimp cocktail was divine! We sat 4 to our table. Was a lil crowded but waitress kept our trash cleaned off. Rolls were really good. Nice atmosphere. Interesting history. They had bigger tables and different rooms, even outside tables... Would go again. Need to check hours and days bc they are only open at certain times. I believe they are available for events. read more

The owners were great the food was wonderful! We have been coming to Millers Ferry Camp Grounds for years. This is the first time to discover this establishment. We wish the family great success in the future. We look forward to visiting in the near future read more

A bit pricey, but you will not find any better place to eat in Camden. The steak is the best thing on the menu.
