While this is the "American" gas station now and no longer a Sunoco (after Sunoco withdrew support…read moredue to the included billboard messages), I would walk across four lanes on US-422 traffic to get fuel if I ran out of gas in front of this station. I've been inside a few times before the owner started using his electronic billboards for displaying horrible messages, and none of the experiences have been anything but underwhelming. The billboards are now icing on the cake. The owner may boast about being an American, but his messages clearly aren't welcoming to anyone who doesn't agree with his extremist ideals.

One young guy took care of me, while the two older, wiser gentlemen, one of whom I later discovered was the father of the young guy, were clearly the racists in this situation. I was on my way home from a wedding in Virginia when I blew out a tire near their garage. I pulled in and asked the older guys to change my tire, and they refused, citing that they were much too overwhelmed with a prior commitment to handle my tire change. As they said this, I looked around in amazement at their parking lot that was completely empty except for my vehicle, and their four-bay garage that was completely empty except for one vehicle that one of them was actively repairing, while the other guy stood around and did nothing but watch me as I went back outside to get on my knees in suit pants on their gravel-covered parking lot to change my own tire. Then, as I changed my tire, I noticed a few cars pulling up and leaving without any hassle at all with regard to be serviced. The drivers were all White, while I was - and still am - Black. I was so not ready for that. It's 2015, I thought to myself. Who actually refuses at this late hour in human history to fix a tire just because the requester is Black? Yet, here it was staring me in the face and commanding that I recognize that it still exists - RACISM. It is my hope that no one patronizes this business, White or Black, or for that matter, any other color. They may be very good at what they do, but I'll never know that, because I'm Black.

Fantastic service at a very reasonable price! I got a flat on the Parkway and waited several hours…read morefor a tow truck through my insurance company. The first truck never arrived and the second one kept pushing back the arrival time. I got fed up and called Heroes Towing, and he was there in 40 minutes! Very friendly and efficient service and totally reasonable pricing. Next time I need a tow I'll just call Heroes.
