Definitely quite disappointed on the meal experience here. A few things went wrong:
1) We were supposed to eat somewhere else but it was Saturday Night and our reservations fell through.
2) we were able to get a table here as walk-ups at 7:45pm. This should have been the first sign. The place was busy but there were a few empty tables.
3) the waiter was a character. I don't know his name and it is better that I don't write it even if I did. But a character in a not so great way. He was not rude, but was pushing us to order quickly and then disappeared most of the time. It was so bad that I had to get up to pay directly inside the restaurant as after many times of calling his attention he ignored us
3) The food itself was so, so. We ordered carbonara; focaccia. And they were both OK. Definitely not the best we have had. But on the main meal they really outdid themselves. The quantity of food was very small for the polpo (grilled octopus) and the calamare fritte were the equivalent of small appetizers when in reality they were secondi
4) To end with a bang they added an automatic 10% service fee to the bill. I am fine tipping, but this is typically not done in Italy (even in Trastevere) and if it is done I want to do it voluntarily as I do it for outstanding service. In this case the food was not great and the service left much to be desired
Now I know why we were able to get a table without reservation on a Saturday night.
Go at your own risk.
My rating of 2 is mostly for the bad service. The food was OK but not great and definitely the portions left a lot to be desired and the 10% service charge absolutely not earned. read more
