The piece was large and expensive (although very well-priced for the quality and size), and my husband and I weren't quite ready to make a decision. We were also nervous to deal with a business we had no knowledge of, involving significant funds and shipping overseas. We talked to one of the gallery associates, Chimera, who took my email address and said she would email me a photo of the piece as we considered its purchase. Chimera followed through exactly as she said she would. She made the process so seamless and took the fear out of buying a rather expensive item while traveling in a foreign country and getting it efficiently and safely transported. It arrived in less time than expected in perfect condition, and we are thrilled with the entire transaction.

I came home with 3 pieces, but could have easily purchased more had I had room in my luggage. I purchased 3 of the small box frames displaying street art and absolutely love them! I'm all for being a conscious consumer, so even though I enjoyed visiting the gallery- when I learned about the owner's practices I was disappointed and can no longer recommend this business. Most of the art consists of photographs of Barcelona that are set into deep frames, and then cut and styled so that the image has a 3-d element to it-- this is a common style of art I have seen around Barcelona (for cheaper than Maxó's 23€ too) so these pieces are probably original?

There were lots of people here, to be expected. The art is beautiful. It's nice to see all the different time frames. Some of the art we saw from the 1400s was very special. We feel so fortunate to not only have enjoyed the museum, but also the restaurant at the top with a view. Definitely a great way to spend the afternoon in Barcelona. If you are a fan of Tapies or of any form of abstract expressionism, you will not be disappointed. Admission is 10 Euro. The gallery is small but is well laid out on 3 levels with a tiny rooftop area. I wish more works had been on display, but what was on view was fantastic. The museum rotates their exhibits 4 times per year but each one presents a good overview of Tapies' works. This particular display (Exhibition #3) featured several of the artist's early surrealist drawings, a few bronze sculptures and paintings that spanned several decades (from the 1940s to present). The exhibit illustrated the evolution of Tapies' techniques and showcased his ability to create inspired works with varied materials. The artwork here is breathtaking. I had only seen a few very small canvas works at some U.S. art museums and I was overwhelmed with the sheer size of some of the works on display here (they are really larger than life). They are absolutely stunning! Although the museum is small, I easily spent 3 hours here and could've stayed even longer in contemplation. The museum also had a screening of a documentary on Tapies that was included in the admission cost. The museum gift shop is top notch with all sorts of great items for art lovers on a budget (postcards run about 1 Euro each, notecards are around 5 Euro, t-shirts 20 Euro; while you can get gorgeous lithographs, silk scarves and more if you are willing to drop a lot of money). I purchased a few notecards, postcards, a t-shirt and a full color book with selected art for about 32 Euro total. My husband, who is not an art lover, was not very impressed with this place. He really tried to enjoy the art but just kept saying "I don't get it." I know that Tapies is an aquired taste but even if you aren't a fan, this museum is worth a visit just to see works by one of the most influential Spanish artists. And if you are a fan like me, you will be in pure art heaven!

Full disclosure, I had every intent of leaving my greys and coming to terms that it would be a trying process. When I saw Giovanni was from Italy, I thought maybe I'd have a little easier time to communicate. And.. what followed, was this.. a stylist who really understood how to make the best of my hair without too much explanation, immediately was able to address my unvoiced concerns without being pushy (but also was honest and told me that the growout was a little harsh and what we could do). Sleep deprived, and several coffees in, he went to work: balanced my color, blended the grey, noted the parting and how I like to wear my hair behind my ears. I wish I could fly here every month to have my hair done at Opera. Abel worked magic, advising me on how to adjust my blonde to better suit my complexion. He was so attentive to details, he also adjusted my brows to suit my gorgeous new hair. I also had my hair cut while in and just love the results. The team is fun and caring, while also being safe. Chairs were sprayed down and wiped, everyone wore gloves and masks, and they even gave me a new mask at the end of service. I am very VERY happy with my experience. I feel like a better version of myself...

The balconies curl, none of the walls are straight, and even the roof has weird shaped chimneys. I'd call this modern architecture. Who knows! My favourite part was the rooftop; the famous chimney sculptures and panoramic views over Barcelona were beautiful and there were plenty of photo opportunities. The audio guide was helpful and explained the history and design very carefully and clearly. If you're planning to visit, booking your tickets in advance is a good idea since it gets quite busy, especially during the summer.
