I wasn't impressed with this shopping center. We have all this in America because I seen those designs already and prices are high as well. You can get them at any Nordstrom or Farfetch website, nothing unique to buy in Paris. I was looking more into classic local designer brands but instead there are big brands with silly designs, not what I expect to buy in Paris. I was looking classic long heeled boots, gloves and some elegant clothes but left with nothing. Overall it's just big brands over 1000 euros. Gourmet department on lower floor wasn't impressing too. But appearance of the mall is very nice, old historical building with beautiful open space. read more

I was shopping for a few things for friends and family and decided to stop by. Inside, this is probably one of the most festive-looking department stores, comparable to GUM in Moscow or Liberty London. The glass dome is gorgeous and worth a detour, but I would not spend time/money to get on the little observation deck (tourist trap lvl 100) as you can see it perfectly well as is. Check the observation deck on top of the building, as you get an unobstructed view of Opera Garnier, the Eiffel Tower, and several other landmarks. I'd skip the food court entirely as there is nothing appealing there, and the coffee is meh. As for the shopping itself, it is a good place if you want to have access to IRL versions of some of the French brands that are mostly available online (A.P.C., IRO, etc.). Other than that, going to mono-brand stores for an in-person experience might be more pleasant (e.g., a lot of the same brands are present in the 3rd arr.) as here you get only a subset of collections (real estate is pretty limited) complete with immense crowds. read more

Every girls' dream! I absolutely love Galeries Lafayette, visiting in December feels more like Disney for grown up girls and not just a normal department store. This centerpiece of the store in December was a Christmas Tree adorned with hundreds of dazzling lights and picture perfect installations reflecting from all angles, creating a spectacle not to be missed. I strolled and shopped the popular brands and also discovered new trendy brands, as in "Never Fully Dressed." I find the staff at Lancel and to be super kind and helpful. The store has quite a few restaurants but I can only comment on the ones I've tried - as in the Asian restaurant on the top floor. We had delicious rice and noodle bowls after hours of shopping. Comfort food for recovery! And the Espresso Martini shaken and served at Mamasens by "french_pepito" (ig name). Mamasens is on the first floor and our bartender was amazing (if you go, please give my regards to him). Another well deserved stop was for champagne at the café near Chanel on the second floor (forgot the name), overlooking the Christmas Tree - it was a perfect wrap to the day at Galeries Lafayette I'm super happy with my experience. If you need your high-end shopping fix, don't forget to stop here! You will find your standard luxury items, but then you will find clearly the window shopping ultra-luxury brands. I usually come here honestly to window shop and then indulge in their food department which is expansive and quite a good selection at a decent price point. If it's hot and or rainy, this is the spot to step into for a few before heading back out on your adventures. Usually stop here whenever in town, so well worth it in my opinion. read more

The vibe is bustling high end shopping mall! Love how everything is broken up in small kiosk like areas! Lots of trust and a low theft rate are needed to make a placeike that work. The interior design is spectacular. The restaurant on the top floor are fab! But the best part is the rooftop view! Acrophobics can overcome their fear with flooding as the guard rail is clear glass! My phone charge was dying and I needed a cable and charger. Sourakhé went way out of his way to determine which accessory batteries came fully charged. He saved my phone from dying with plenty of juice to get us an über back to the hotel. Thanks, Sourahke! But I didn't like how security closed off the rooftop early. Not sure if they had a hot date or if I heard it wrong that they close at 8P...it was 730P. And the tone was off. Not "sorry folks, we are closing." It was "We're closed." Not the genteel approach to which I'm accustomed. Rudeness gets the place less than 5 stars. Work on a white glove approach and I'll change my rating and re-write this review. This is a huge luxury shopping mall that's famous for the multi-level central area that is decorated lavishly during Christmas. It was crowded but not horribly so mid-day on a Thursday. I was able to wander around and take a work phone call easily and be heard and understood, while looking at perfume and fancy jewelry and handbags. Afterwards, I roamed around the upstairs levels looking at women's clothing and saw a few cafes selling macarons and other items. Before I left, I purchased a Swarovski keepsake for myself. My point is - there is almost anything and everything you could want inside here - I saw all the major luxury brands you could imagine with smaller shops inside. It was easy to access from the metro and has tons of cafes and eateries nearby as you'd expect. It's also close to Champs and the Eiffel Tower if you are already in the area. read more

Overall our experience here was great. It is over the top in many ways. Going out on the catwalk over the center of the rotunda was not for the faint of heart. My daughter was excited to come across a Disney store in the middle of a department store. Three generations of my family enjoyed this immensely. We bought some fun things and had fun seeing all that was offered, but the single greatest part was the best hot chocolate I have ever had. My husband was not with me and someday we will return so he can experience it too. Clean bathrooms and easy to get an Uber to and from. There are also some great places to eat. I highly recommend this as a couple hour stop while in Paris. read more

Came by the other day as part of my exploration of Paris and this is definitely an attraction. This department store covered multiple buildings across several blocks! At the top of one building, there was a rooftop terrace including a skating rink! There are numerous restaurants on-site, including a cafeteria beneath the skating rink on the floor next to the souvenirs! Other buildings include a massive food court, watch boutique, along with clothing! The view from inside the store to the rooftop is breathtaking! Tax free option is available for tourists! Beautiful mall with an amazing dome from the inside. There are plenty of boutiques inside also ranging from high end luxury brands to your regular casual brands. There's a sky walk on the top levels where you can stand on a suspended bridge but you have to queue and reserve a time slot. Beautiful shop with amazing brands and Christmas decorations. Our daughter loved this place in all of Paris. After walking up and down the many floors, we rested at the restaurant that bears the same name. The seats near the tall glass windows are first to be taken as they show the most amazing view of the city. If you can time it so that you can seat there in time for the sunset, that's the best. The prices at the restaurant are fair considering the area. I recommend the food places towards the back where you can order kids' combos in a cafeteria style. All the staff was friendly and tried to help communicate despite the fact that our French was very lacking. They even had ice for our drinks! "Fashion is a cultural pastime in Paris" and it didn't disappoint. Yesterday my partner, his family and I were in the Haussmann-Opéra area where "your go-to for big department store shopping". Along or just off of Boulevard Haussmann located in the 9th arrondissement are the original Galeries Lafayette as well as Printemps. However we went into other stores such as Zara, Uniqlo, H&M etc. With the foreign exchange difference, it wasn't too bad with the European brands. However, any foreign credit cards like those issued in the US , some staff would ask for an ID like the driver license or passport to process the transaction. read more

The quick version. Big department store. Like Harrods in London or la rinascente in Milan. Lots of escalators, market in the basement. So this is a big department store like others in London,Milan, etc. Lots of high end designers all in one place. What I liked was that they had ac that was kind of cold. Every floor had clear markings in English and French so easy to figure out where you are going. On the top floor where the toilets are there's a small bistro and souvenir shop. If you are in the area and need a quick respite from the street and need a toilet this is a good place to go. Also onnthe basement there is a gourmet food market. This really is a one stop shop. Prices are for sure on the higher end of things. Anyways, recommended. read more

There are a lot of reviews of Galeries Lafayette and for me to duplicate what's already been written would be easy. Rather than talk about the shopping and commercialization of brands, I would address visiting GLH as a destination. I've been the family 'tour guide' for a number of years and I really try to get to the experience of the destination in every visit. GLH was no different. I wanted my brother, my mom, and my dad to see GLH not as a Dillard's, or Macy, but rather for it's history and to soak in the environment. It's important to note the following: (1) There are multiple Galeries Lafayette Haussmann is the one you want if you want to see the stained glass dome and perhaps be sneaky enough to make it to the rooftop. (2) If you're looking for Pret a Manager, it is located on Level 0 but not at Haussman, but rather the Kitchen and Food Galerie Lafayette which is a block or two kitty corner. Why Pret a Manager? If you're vegetarian or vegan, there's zero options available at the range of restaurants at Level 5 in GLH. (3) There will be a lot of tourists on any given day and plenty from that enjoy purchasing name brands like Gucci and the like. So, just let them do the shopping and enjoy the sights and sounds. (4) If you're staying in Montmartre, it is possible to walk to GLH or take the Metro. It's not hard. Taking an Uber or Cab is not worth it unless you're in a group of 5 or more or have elderly traveling. We did this by riding in the elevator and skipping the escalators and our first stop was at level 3. While level 3 has a Starbucks, the main attraction is to wait in line to walk on the glass cat walk over the center of GLH. The glass overwalk is really cool, the cost is free, and the attendant gives each group as much time as want. The attendant will even take your picture as well. The view. oh la la. are stunning. After taking a lot of pictures, make your way to Level 5. There's a toy, electronic, and gift stores as well as different cafeteria style options. Make sure to grab a seat by the window and enjoy the views of the rooftops of Paris. I was really hoping that the staircase to the rooftop was open but alas it was closed. Bummer. but maybe for next time. GLH is rich with history and it's a free attraction in Paris. The last thing is that it's a great introduction to the city after being on a plane for 10 hours. So, drop your bags off at the hotel and head over GLH and enjoy. Have a double expresso and Croissant on the Level 5 while you make your plans for the next excursions in Paris. Au Revoir. read more

Galeries Lafayette is about as high-end as you can get. I had heard about the store and was eager to see it for myself when I was in Paris. I have been to the store on two trips to Paris and it is truly spectacular. They have so many different brands. Many I had never heard of. You really get a feel for Paris being in this store. The makeup department is unbelievable. Each makeup brand is almost like a mini store. They have anything and everything you could ever want. Food choices are also abundant. They have anything you could want related to food. They even have a Spice Market with so many different spices. You can buy as little or as much as you want. Ironically, my favorite macarons in Paris were from the store. I would have expected them to be from some bakery there. This store is a must-see when in Paris. read more

Honestly, this place is amazing and let me tell you why. It has almost all of the big luxury brands that you can think of with all their classic bags in stock. Along with perfumes and clothing as well. Some of the stores here are (Faure Le Page, Goyard, Chanel, Celine, Kenzo, Acne Studios, Burberry, Dior, Rimowa, Ami, Prada, Fendi etc) It's a great one stop shop if you dont want to hunt down each individual one of these stores all over Paris. Another great thing is that if you are a foreigner, you can obtain your VAT tax free paper instantly. This is on the first floor (they have a section there where you bring all your receipts and obtain your VAT form) now.. you can either get your VAT refund instantly (in cash) or in your credit card here. Then, all you have to do is scan it at the airport and you instantly get your money back in your card. (3 days max I already got my refund and when I chose cash it gave me cash on the spot at the mall) read more

The building is spectacular. And it was so very busy when we were there so the people watching was mostly fun. But my God, could many actually pay those outrageous prices?! Even the macaroons are double what you pay a couple blocks out. Still, it's nice to walk around out of the heat or rain. Like a museum. Which is how I excused the visit to my husband: There's Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Dior, Givenchy, Tiffany & Co. It's like a museum of high-end, beautiful designer wear. We went to GL yesterday - it was not a pleasant experience. Totally crowded, and though nearly everyone was wearing a facemask, there was absolutely no thought of social distancing. The escalators were overcrowded with people pushing by and they had organised loops at each floor level to try (uh, no that didn't work) to separate those walking by the escalators and those going on or coming off them Was looking for shoes but for the most part, either it was a scrum with just 1 or 2 staff on duty or the staff were mostly talking to one another or studying their phones We couldn't wait to get out...very disappointing Goodness knows what it will be like when the sales start next week Plus the tree was poor - basically lots of blow up plastic things hanging around read more

I love this department store. It is huge and offers literally everything, from haute couture to shoes, books, and gourmet food. You can easily get lost in this store for a whole day. There is also a beauty/spa department that offers a wide range of treatments, including cryotherapy. I enjoyed exploring the store and shop here a lot. read more

I have loved this store and been visiting this department store for over 25 years on every single visit I make to Parris. This last visit was not a disappointment and incredible to see the rooftop opened. Unfortunately, the restaurant upstairs Tortuga was not open for business for lunch. The best part about this department store is that it has everything and it is absolutely beautiful. The best improvement that I noticed in 2022 was the tax refund area is now totally automated and full of staff and great to see the diverse staff as well. I adore this place and it is unfortunate that no matter how many food kiosks or food counters or restaurants it is always full. After reuniting with my family on our last 3 days in Paris, I knew we had to stop here. I've heard nothing but good things about the dome ceiling. Seeing it in person is mesmerizing. A beautiful mall that is very crowded. If you aren't too exhausted from the sightseeing, I recommend taking the staircase by the elevators. It's also very crammed but that's Paris for you. Lots of luxury shoos with some lesser known brands available here. I visited on a day with plenty of sale offers available but be sure to check the fine print. Not everything (within the same brand) offers the same kind of discounts. You will see lots of Chinese speaking staff here serving the Chinese clients/customers. Gorgeous building and decor but the experience didn't meet expectations for the hype. I'm a person that isn't a luxury brand shopper and I'm not a big lover of crowds post Covid so this may have just been a miss for me - if you want to shop for specific brands in Paris you can do that here or at their flagship stories throughout the city. With how crowded everything was I couldn't imagine being that squished together on the ground floor purchasing something that was 500€ or more, not a great luxury experience. For me the hype was about their Christmas decor this year. Decor was 4.5 stars - Gorgeous disco tree and cute animatronic window displays but the large weekday crowds during off hours were a bit overwhelming for me especially with every influencer frantically arranging tripods and cutting in front of folks trying to film their content, hard to live in the moment and enjoy the decor while waiting in line to simply see decorations. Check out the view (view - 5 stars) from the top of the building, but expect lots of photo hungry crowds and selfie sticks (hold onto your phone of near the ledge! This is my ABSOLUTE favorite mall in the entire world!!! It's so stunning, and even if you're not really up for a shopping spree, I urge you to just stop in the 750,000 square feet space and head to the center to look up! The Art Nouveau stained glass rotunda is breathtaking!!! (They recently added a glass floor balcony overlook on the top floor that's to die for! If you're not afraid of heights, check out out!) There are floors and floors of fashion of all kinds, for children, men, women, even home goods and toys. (On my last visit they set up an entire walk in Barbie dream house) Here they have every high end designer you can imagine, (Givenchy, Stella, Burberry, Balenciaga, Prada etc), and some of your soon to be favorite hip European brands, even hard to find in person brands like Chiara! You can easily blow your yearly salary on one unique piece here or pick up a simpler staple sweater. It really has it all!! Don't let the designers intimidate you, they have some more reasonably priced goods also! It's only in Lafayette you can create your own signature Gucci perfume, sip Moët at the pop up champagne bar and duck in Angelina for their signature hot chocolate. I refuse to stop by without picking our some Macarons from Pierre Herme located on the second floor. GO GRAB SOME!! To me, this is much more fun that shopping Champs-Élysées, and makes a great rainy or cold day stop! This place really is a sight to be seen. Both tourists and Parisians shop here just the same. It's an experience! They even have historic tours of the gorgeous building via Viator! In my opinion, it's a MUST while in Paris.
