A coworker took me to English Newsom sellers and I was very impressed by their wine selection and wines that I normally drink. They carry a variety of lines from sweet to dry. Their cab was delicious along with one that was aged in a bourbon barrel. They offer a variety of appetizers and charcuterie boards that you can order. I also love the fact that they have bingo nights that you can attend with your spouse or friends. The Ambience is lovely as well. We are always greeted with respect and the girls are so friendly. You're charged $10 to see two very small rooms that consisted of a bedroom set a table, a couple guitars and a motorcycle. There is an art gallery I was told, but it was closed so I'm not able to attest to what is in there. I will say the gift shop is pretty nice and I can see where a lot of people would find some unique things in there, especially if someone likes unique glasses. I was very tempted to get a pair of Buddy Holly glasses. The people were not overly friendly, which is unusual for Lubbock. At least now I can say I've finally been there.

That never happened. I didn't take the opportunity to go to Stars & Stripes in Lubbock while I was a student as much as I should have, and after this visit, I feel regretful. My girlfriend and I took a trip to go see Backrooms at her request. The night we went wasn't a double feature night (some nights they show two movies back to back which I highly recommend), but I don't know if we would've stayed awake for two flicks! As showtime nears, the line to get in grows, so make sure to get there early to park in the best spots. We got to the theater about 10 minutes before showtime which gave us plenty of time to park our car, use the bathroom inside their retro-themed diner/concession stand, and order some snacks. For less than the price of a popcorn and two drinks at your standard theater, we got a popcorn, candy, a hot dog, a soda, and fried pickles. Their food is a typical concession stand affair. I wasn't blown away by anything, but it was all EXACTLY what I expected. The sun took its time to go down so by the time the movie started, it was a little dim due to it not being nautical twilight yet, but as the movie progressed, it was easier to see. You have a station to tune into for each movie, and it's slightly lo-fi and missed a little low end compared to a typical theater's sound system, but it's a drive-in, you gotta make a compromise somewhere. The only true issue was people randomly turning their headlights on mid-movie, blinding everyone nearby. Don't do that. Next time I'm in Lubbock, I hope to make a trip back to the drive-in because it was a cute little experience! RIYL: A little side mission to go see a movie

If you are just looking for something to do while in Lubbock, it will depend on whether or not it is for you. It is definitely deep on windmills and history. I found it interesting but will say it didn't hold my attention the way I expect it would for some who really are intrigued by how small changes across history really add up. LOCATION/AMBIANCE The American Windmill Museum is located in the northeast part of Lubbock, TX with close access to Interstate 25 and Loop 289. As you approach the museum grounds, you'll see the fenced in area with a slew of outdoor windmills of all generations. The building in which you can schedule a group tour of 6 or more or self-tour is huge... however, it is broken into sections: two windmill areas, model train displays, miniature houses, millstone collection, gift shop, a counter weight display, and plus their event room has an amazing wrap-around mural. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB My 8 & 9-year-olds loved the "Legacy of the Wind" seek and find. We received a few handouts soon after purchasing our tour tickets. Brochures and the like. One was a list of over 30 items to find on the mural in their special events room. Not only did this entertain them for 20 minutes, but it also was puzzle-like & expanded their vocabulary with words like "privies" & "man witching for water. SERVICE The lady at the ticket counter and the guy in gift shop were personable and helpful. MY FAVORITE PART... The windmills! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... Not knowing until recently about this place. TIPS + Closed Sunday & Monday. + Cash or card is accepted for the entry fee. + As of 12/29/2022, adult tickets were $7.50. Children 5 to 12 years-old were $5.
