This was a formal affair and the address threw me off as I couldn't picture where this venue would be located. As I started driving down a gravel road to avoid the long line to get into the lot, I was even more skeptical as I felt like I was driving down a southern backroad with all the dust that was kicking up. After tipping down the grey gravel road, I entered the venue. This space is huge and truly amazing, very open and inviting. I imagine the décor is designed based on the event., but for this event, it was well laid out with *gasp* plenty of seating to allow you to eat, drink and be merry. The theme of this year's gala was Green Eggs and Glam, so it was Dr. Seuss whimsical. All the decorations suggested you were in one of the books. There were even the Things running around...Thing 3 was there, so guessing Things 1 and 2 were on vacation. The Grinch also stopped by and paid us a visit and the Cat in the Hat and his Missus were there as well. There were quite a few people at the event, but it never felt crowed. There was a full-size bar as well as a full-size stage. The Geraghty went all out for this event and I have to say that they hit the mark. From the food stations, standing bars, the very comfortable seating areas with sofas and tables...amazing arrangements. Don't let the location or gravel road put you off. This is an excellent venue to host an event.

We came into town to see the Watch show - the wind up. Parking is something you have to figure out…read morethere is a lot of across the street but there's also parking on the street. You have to be careful parking on the street and make sure that you're not parking where you shouldn't be because some of the lines are not very obvious. The actual show itself in the venue was done very well. It has kind of like an industrial look, and the place itself is very clean. It was a lot of vendors, but still kind of intimate at the same time. Well organized.

I hosted a baby shower at Space 1858 and absolutely loved the space and working with the event…read moremanager was easy and manageable. The space itself is beautiful and open. The front of the space is white with a lot of windows to allow in light for any event. The windows are lined with white, airy curtains that allow light in but give privacy to the attendees. There is a cool brick wall on one side of the space. The back portion of the space includes a kitchenette (no stove) and a space for all of the chairs/tables. A long hallway leads to the back entrance where the trashcans and recycling bins are located. The management includes cleaning supplies, a broom, trash bags, and a ladder. I loved the DIY nature of this rental. You can decide to bring in your own food or have it catered by any company you choose. Since the space is small it would work best for groups of 50 or less and even less depending on the type of seating. More layout and seating info on their site. Logistics- The management puts everything in writing and explains everything in detail so that the day of logistics is seamless. The bathroom is well stocked with toilet paper and hand towels. If you decide to have alcohol you must buy alcohol insurance (more info on their site). You cannot tack, velcro, or 3M stick to their walls. If you do so, there is a fine, or you can purchase more insurance to use whatever materials you want (more info on their site). You will also need to purchase event insurance. All info on their site and on the contract. You will need to clean the space after your event. However, management does have a cleaning crew come in before each event to clean up (so the space is clean for you when you arrive). A word of advice- 1) If you host in winter, you'll need an additional coat rack. 2) If you decide on half-day rental, give yourself enough time to organize, decorate, and clean up at the end. There was another event in the evening on when I hosted my shower and we hauled ass to get everything cleaned in time. 3) Not completely ADA accessible (there is one stair up through every door). However, the bathroom is large and fits a wheelchair. Also, our guest used the back entrance to bring her chair in. It worked well for her. All in all, I would recommend as a small events venue/space.

The room is essentially a blank slate, which allowed us to do the decorating we wanted. It's well-lit. It's incredibly well-priced and they allowed us to bring our own caterer and beverages. It was easy to plug a laptop into their sound system for our wedding and reception soundtrack, and our guests had a blast. The kitchen is a bit small but it worked fine for cold appetizers. Christina was very helpful in making it available for viewing numerous times. We will have beautiful memories of our wedding day forever, and working with Space 1858 was one of the easiest parts of planning the wedding--stress-free, which we really needed!

She was extremely patient and worked with us as we went back and forth trying to make decisions throughout the months leading up to August. She responded quickly to all our questions and always had a bright and positive attitude, which we really appreciated during that time. Jamie was even able to allow us to come the day before to decorate since there were no events going on. Working with Jamie made the venue that much more special to us! The venue itself is beautiful. All the photos came out stunning and beautiful. We had our ceremony and cocktail hour downstairs in Kitchen Chicago and dinner upstairs. Both areas are beautiful and very photogenic. The view of the city from the upstairs windows is breathtaking and a perfect backdrop for photos. The food was amazing as well. Our friends still talk about how the food was so delicious and a few of our friends have even tried to recreate the salad. The cake was done by Sophie at Vanille. She was amazing to work with as well. We walked into our consultation completely clueless and Sophie guided us to our dream cake! It was beautiful! Overall we're so happy we went with City View Lofts! We appreciated the professionalism and positive attitude of every staff and vendor that served us. It was not the wedding we originally envisioned when we booked the venue last year (pre-pandemic), but it was better than we could have imagined and turned out to be a memorable day we will never forget. We're so grateful to CVL, all of their staff, and the owners for working with us and being flexible during the pandemic to make this all possible and done safely. We've heard so many awful stories of friends being swindled out of their deposits and/or being strong-armed by the venues they've booked with. If you're cautious about booking with a vendor due to trust, please know that Jamie and CVL will take care of you and will work with you as they've done with us.

We got to make wonderful use of the space, using both the north and south sides throughout the evening. They have great rain plans, TONS of room, clean, wonderful bathrooms. Day of was incredibly smooth and Maya worked fantastically with our wedding planner. We especially are grateful to Artifact's bar staff and night manager Pete, who took amazing care of us and our guests the entire night. We absolutely loved the three different spaces at the venue, which helped the day flow easily, moving from the ceremony space to cocktail hour to dinner. The second floor space was an incredible bonus. The bridal suite was big and made getting ready so comfortable, and the extra huge open space gave our families room to hang out before the ceremony as well as a space to take photos. Our point of contact, Hanna Roberts, was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She was quick to respond to emails, patiently answered all our questions, and even sent us swatches when we were torn between two table runner options. We also really wanted a boba bar for our wedding, and they delivered! We were able to create a custom sign for the boba bar, which was a huge hit with our guests. The venue itself is the perfect balance of modern + historic. It fit our aesthetic perfectly and wowed our guests. High ceilings, natural light, interesting art and architectural features, clean finishes - its beautiful! The food options were a level above what you typically see at weddings. Our tasting was such a fun experience and our final menu, which included caviar, a beet and burrata salad, and more was just about as good as you can ask for at a wedding. The staff on the day of our wedding were great. Attentive, kind, and kept the drinks flowinggg! Special shout out to Kaci, who became an integral part of the planning team over the ~year we spent planning the wedding. She is excellent and knows her stuff!
