Students and staff work hard together with mutual co-operation and respect in an enjoyable and highly-focused learning environment. Students have extra rights and responsibilities and everyone is motivated to achieve success. Mainly based in St. Angelas Ursuline school, it does require a 5 minute walk to some lessons in St. Bonaventures School. The Sixth Form Centre offers a post-16 education with a wide range of courses, an excellent record of results and a supportive environment for students. They are a Catholic Sixth Form and are proud of their traditions but they welcome a diversity of students into the Sixth Form. Every year they aim to beat the previous years A level grades. Always striving to be the best, the sixth form provides you with the ability to study on your own as well as provide assistance whenever you may need it. The years A level results were as follows: Further success at A-Level where the number of A or B grades achieved by the students in the Sixth Form Centre rising again. The girls led the way again with 54.76% (28.04% being A grades) and the boys not disgraced with 43.06% (16.15% being A grades). Due to the excellent grades received by the students, every year around 15 students apply to Oxford or Cambridge University, with a high number being accepted. On June 11th 2008, the headteacher Delia Smith attended Buckingham Palace to receive the OBE awarded to her in the New Year's honours list. The school is well funded and equipped, with a new Sixth form centre, language centre and sports hall. Equally, it doesn't forget its history, with a massive pipe organ in the main hall of the building where the school has had its home since the first was bombed during World War 2, and the school song giving pupils a real sense of identity. The only downside is the siting of the school - far from many people, but a little close to The Prittlewell School, leading to many of the pupils getting into scuffles with their rivals.

I had a great time here. As a Technology College, St Bonaventure's endeavours to promote an educational climate which is scientific, technological and vocational. Almost half the timetable is taken up with the teaching of Technology, Information Technology, Mathematics and Science. Located in Forest Gate, it has great access by both the district line (Get off at Upton park and then a 10min walk), and by plenty of buses so access is not a problem. In terms of uniform, years 7-9 wear a brown blazer with gold trim, gold and black stripped tie, black trousers and black shoes. year 10-11 students wear a black blazer with gold trim, yellow and black stripped tie, black trousers and black shoes. the P.E Kit was the same for both. It was white shorts, Blue jersey with a white horizontal stripe, and trainers. During my time, years 7-9 were not allowed outside of school for lunch. years 10-11 were allowed. School dinners were nothing special although the doughnuts were great. Outside of school, there are plenty of chicken shops and newsagents about 2 minutes walkfrom the school. This is a great school with a natural progression into the sixth form centre which has a high level of oxbridge applicants and admissions. One of the best (If not the best) consistantly for the last 15 years in grades. Highly recommended.

The building is a 1970s style building all on one level. It has a small number of classrooms, a school hall all accessed via the office by the entrance. There is a large grassed area at the front and a playground with school field at the rear. The school has a small number local pupils and is run by a dedicated staff. I had the good fortune to work there as a volunteer and was very impressed with the happy, positive children and their learning.

St. Angelas GCSE results for the last year are as follows: GCSEs They achieved fantastic GCSE results with 90.2% achieving 5 or more A* to C grades of which 79% including both English and Mathematics. However, it is at the highest grades that they continue to improve with A* grades totalling 12.33% and combined with A grades the figure rises to 35.16%, a significant jump on last year. As a Leading Edge School, their achievements and commitment to raising standards have long been recognised. They were also one of the first schools nationwide to be awarded specialist status (as a Technology College). Staff development and training programmes continue to keep their teachers motivated and well informed. They also benefit from ongoing investment in facilities and teaching resources. Recently, however, it seems that Mayfield is climbing up the Redbridge schools ladder. I asked my rather insightful cousin Kainat and her lovely friend Veronika, who both attend the school and are in their first year of GCSE's to shed some light on the establishment; "Mayfield High School is a weird and wonderful combination of a local lunatic asylum as well as being a playground for its rough kids", laughs Veronika. "The grade percentages are getting a lot better now and it is viewed as being a successful Humanities and Arts specialist school". "But it is known for harbouring a troublesome community", adds Kainat. Both girls admit that the staff are friendly and eager to expand the knowledge of their students, to enable them to achieve the best results they can. "The school holds an immense pride in their unique motto 'to be the best that you can be'; however, some students do not share the same enthusiasm", they girls profess.
