Loved both of our experiences at Gallows Hill! First we did The Lost Museum! What fun, interactive rooms with a guide taking you through the story. Definitely a one-of-a-kind haunted house experience that felt a little similar to an escape room. Next was the audience participation play Guilty! Both the actors were fabulous and the group we had was a lot of fun! It was barrels of laughs! Loved it! Would definitely come back for other experiences offered by Gallows Hill next time we are in Salem!

Loved the experience here! It's very theatrical and tries to spook you a bit in a fun way that is still family friendly.

In mid-October my mom and I did the combo ticket of the show before the trolley ride, and the trolley ride. We were ushered into the show space and each family was spaced out appropriately. The show had pretty cool effects for outside of Disney, but it was definitely lacking in depth. I guess it would be cool for a 10 and under crowd? It was something to do nonetheless. After the show, we stood outside on spaced out dots waiting to board the trolley. Again, on the trolley we were spaced out appropriately. The actress and driver were friendly and a hoot. They were funny and punny and made the experience. The tour itself was basically a comedy show, not the haunted spooky thing some people are looking for. I liked the comedy show, but I also wanted a little more depth to it. As I mentioned above, depth is everything.

My husband and I came to Salem because it's been on my bucket list for YEARS. I wanted to learn more about the history of the area and the theater and the trolley ride did not disappoint! The staff of the theater was very friendly, the show was entertaining and informative, and I cannot go without saying that Christian's hair is amazing. The trolley ride (with BMW) was informative and hilarious. BMW was funny and engaged the audience beautifully. She was obviously born to do this. So much fun! My husband is not the kind of guy who likes to be called out or put on the spot, but Mary did it in such a way that he actually enjoyed it. Would visit again!

This museum was the last stop on our Salem tour. After listening to all the stories, visiting other museums, witchcraft shops, we finally went to see the enactment of the whole story. This story unlike the city walking tour is in a chronological order and unlike the previous museum is enacted by actual people. Caution, there are jump scares, smoke gun use and flash light use. The enactment was spot on. It was almost a mini-Broadway show that is performed within a small enclosed space. The stage fits only one person with a projection screen at the back. There are multiple windows that is used for enactment. What awed me is at the end of the performance we got to know that the whole act was carried out by just one actor. She was the one who gave us the brief introduction in the beginning and shortly after that she delivered this standalone performance in the next 15 mins. Within the short time she managed to change costume, use different props, deliver monologues, etc. Such was the performance that the audience was gripped with thrill and fear and even forgot that the whole thing was an act, an act of a very good performer. We talked to her briefly after the show, we couldn't get her name, but her performance was indeed memorable. Kudos!! This 5 star belongs to the actor !!

    Super fun Halloween Eve night

Had an amazing time at Gallows Hill Museum and theater. I purchased tickets a month or two in advance knowing that Halloween Eve was going to be very busy. I purchased the triple ticket which included the museum, show, and trolley tour. Unfortunately, they had to cancel our trolley tour because of the streets being shut down. Not only were we refunded our money, they invited us to still come check our the museum and show free of charge. We had an absolute blast going through the museum. I was honestly expecting the normal museum experience, but it ended up being an interactive, fun guided tour. Our tour guide was perfect for the role and made the experience fun. The show was also fun and stimulating. It was great getting to hear local ghost and witch stories. Photography is not allowed inside, so I don't have any photos, but I think it was worth the experience to go see for yourself. I believe the owner was outside helping direct traffic tonight. He was awesome, and clearly knows how to run a successful business. We will absolutely be returning to experience the trolley tour the next time we are here in Salem, MA!! Halloween Eve was a success. Thank you Gallow Hills!!

We did both experiences (the escape and Gallows Hill show) and really enjoyed both. The escape is a guided interactive room by room experience with a lot of special effects, lighting and surprise moments. We weren't sure what to expect and sort of stumbled upon this place but it was fun for the area. Not exactly a Salem themed escape but was fun and each room was really well done and our guide was fun and clearly into her role. We also did the Gallows Hill show and thought it was great. It's a short show. Maybe 10-15 minutes total. You get a bit of spooky and jump moments with some Salem history and special effects. We bought both tickets bundled and thought it was worth the money compared to some other experiences and museum like stops in the area. Worth the visit!

After seeing this attraction for awhile now we decided to stop in and check it out. First, I have to say that all the workers whether it was in line organizing people, cashier, ticket taker and of course the actors, every one was super pleasant and answered any questions. The "gift shop" is a small area but they do have a handful of cute mementos. Restrooms were very clean and orderly the day we were there. We didn't choose the combo ticket for The Lost Museum just because of time constants and did see The Main show which talks about the Witch trials and old wives tales. It was explained that the effects are comparable to Disney, that I didn't find at all and were slightly gimmicky at times but as a whole the show was worth the money, which wasn't an outlandish charge and did have a few people in the audience jumping in a fun way. All in all my daughter & I were happy with the show, which lasts about 20 minutes. I would go back and see what The Lost Museum is now that they found it :)

Black Mary Widow and her Daddy completed our Salem trip! They were so funny and entertaining and I truly enjoyed all the jokes and stories. Please book a ghost trolley tour with them! You won't be disappointed!

We got tickets through the GoCity card, and had to make our reservations for a time slot slot the day before. We arrived and checked in, got our sticker, and then waited at a second area to enter the museum when it was our turn. First part of the "tour" was a presentation of the history of the trials with creepy looking mannequins on display. I recommend you sit on the stools in the center of the room for best viewing as you have to rotate around left on your seat to see each display as they are presented. It's actually quite informative but the presentation of it was kind of cheesy to be honest. After that is over, you are taken to the back end of the museum where there are exhibits about how witches are presented in movies (ie the witches of Oz), and defining witch hunting then and now. There's a gift shop for all things witchy at the end.

They do not allow photos or recording while walking through the gallery - the staff even states that they are watching on the surveillance cameras for anyone pulling out their phones. We enjoyed walking through each section and reading about each horror character and the fun facts about the movies or TV shows they were from. I really liked that the characters actually looked like the people and not some knock-off wax museum. Some of my favorites were the wall of actor face molds and the slasher room. In messaging Hocus Pocus Tours with a couple questions about the tour and travel to and from Salem, the owner Susan replied immediately and suggested that I call her. This led to a one hour phone conversation where Susan was so gracious with her time, knowledge, and suggestions, not just about how to make the most of the tour, but how to appreciate a day in Salem. I can see why those who had the opportunity to take the in-person tour with Susan really enjoyed it. Covid changed the business model and Hocus Pocus now offers a self-guided tour by purchasing one of two tour apps. I opted for the $19.99 grand tour and it was well worth it. It has 37 points of interest. The app is user friendly and well designed. It provides a map of all stops, tracks where you are, and guides you to the next stop that you select on the tour. When you get to your stop, you can confirm you're at the right spot by comparing a photo of the site with what you see. Then you click on a 2-3 minute audio recording that provides a great snapshot of the significance of the site. As Susan had pointed out to me, there is much more to Salem than the historic witchcraft trials. It includes author Nathaniel Hawthorne's The House of Seven Gables, America's oldest candy company, and other interesting sites. Of everything I visited, I experienced a very deep emotional connection with the 1692 Witchcraft Memorial with 20 stones dedicated to each of the victims of the witchcraft trial. The tour includes brief descriptions of some of the victims including those written about in Arthur Miller's The Crucible. If you plan to visit Salem, I highly recommend this tour. All sites can be visited on the outside and some on the inside at no charge. Some sites, such as The House of Seven Gables, charge separate admission fees. If you want to travel to Salem and don't have a car, the ferry from Boston offers a nice, scenic, and entertaining 50 minute ride. The commuter trains run more frequently and can come in handy if the ferry schedule coming or going doesn't meet your needs. There are plenty of good places to dine at to break up the tour. We had lunch at FINZ and really enjoyed it (I'll post separately about that).

I highly highly recommend Hocus Pocus Tours, I learned so much regarding Salem, the witch trials, the history behind the two, and a little bit of Hocus Pocus and Bewitched. So much fun!
