Nothing ghost or haunted about this show...It seemed the volunteers were staged. Just basic "mind reading" basic tricks.

My daughter saw this online and suggested we check it out and glad we did. They had a choice of seating, VIP - First Row $40, Prefferred Seating $30 and General Seating $20. It is set in what looks like a school auditorium with just regular chairs. They have music playing and Nick the sophisticated psycho, buddy the clown and a magician walking around doing some tricks before the show. He actually did one to my wife and made her scream. The show consists of another magician who I found to be very entertaining. He started off the show with some tricks, some mind reading and some eerie things. All pretty cool. There is audience participation so it makes it even more fun if you like to be involved. They change it up every year so it's never the same. There are curtains on the windows to make the room darker but the light still shines through, it would be better at night where it would give a more frightening feel. It's not a very large auditorium so all seats are pretty good. Their website explains the show and seating arrangements. If you visit Salem I highly recommend checking it out. On a personal note, I lost my sunglasses, not sure where, but I went back and asked , and sure enough without hesitation Nick who was the sophisticated psycho, went directly to where they were and gave them to me. My daughter is of age now to start doing a little more in Salem during Halloween. Not too spooky or graphic so I thought this was a good idea. And honestly- it was. BUT... I think this show is overpriced. We spent $20 for general seating. Our seats weren't bad but I think it should have ben $10/$15 per person. Also- it says 7+ for this show- why did you let toddlers in who could not stay quiet? Be kind to your other paying guests and turn them away (sorry but it wasn't the place for them.) On the website it was cited as a circus side show type of show... it wasn't. It was one mentalist and his tricks. We enjoyed watching BUT just a heads up to some people he said he was doing a possession and also reached out the 'the deceased' in the show in case you aren't comfortable with that don't attend. The mentalist kept saying we will come back to that in the show but never did. We enjoyed stepping out of the cold for a bit, trying something different but could have been better for sure. Also- spread the love. One lady in the audience got a lot of attention throughout the show. Lot's of people would have liked some of that time. And al those thinking of paying more- it only gives you a better seat not guaranteed to be a part of the show. Save that money and sit in the general seating. read more

This guy isn't good enough to charge...this should be a free show for neighborhood kids. This NOT a legit show (the $20-40 price is insane). I actually thought 'with as much as they charge, this must actually be pretty good. WRONG!!! Not for adults. This was such a terrible, terrible "show" called Hysteria. It was just awful from start to end. We had to sit there for 120 miserable minutes, a lot of the audience fell asleep around us. We kept yawning and were so hungry. It is in a dingy warehouse type place. The seats are wooden and incredibly uncomfortable. This was not a magic show, we made the mistake of not reading reviews to prepare us for this awful performance or whatever it was supposed to be. My friend thought the main guy was an opening act because he was just terrible. Then we realize he is the main act and every "act" he kept getting worse. At one point he wanted people to pay tips for some assistant for a really bad act. There was 0 magic in this show, and we have seen side acts at circuses and other venues which were really good. This was so bad, nothing what was advertised. It was anticlimactic and such a waste of money and 120 mins we will never get back. We wish we could get refunds. Do NOT recommend attending this show. Terrible jokes too, we all couldn't wait to leave and get on with the rest of Salem. It doesn't even deserve 1 star read more

I write a magic and horror based comic so upon finding out about this show I was very intrigued. It's in an old church in very easy place to get to. It was nice spooky atmosphere. Ukraine the music they played was a mix of classic rock and spooky soundtracks. A nice mix to ensure that you knew this was going to be as much fun as it was spooky. The Mentalist has a very calm and understated presents and each trick is legitimately head-scratching. My fiance does not like big jump scares so this was great for both of us read more

This show was very fun and entertaining, but we did not hear about ghost stories. It was about people who have died and magic tricks (which I could mostly work out). He also asked for our name, dob, location, ghost story etc and never told ghost stories but then pulled it off as "magically" knowing our age and dob and stuff from what we just wrote. Also I looked up some of the so told stories and they weren't true... but like I said it was fun but I was hoping for a night of hearing ghost stories! read more

Don't waste your money. This show is a complete tourist trap with flashy marketing and nothing to show for it. I think I fell asleep at one point. It was very anti-climactic and they plant people in the audience to to be part of the show so it was very staged and ingeniune. Not to mention the show lacked any kind of production quality whatsoever. All of the 4 star reviews on this platform must have been planted also. read more

My wife and I attended this show last night and despite much of what everyone reads as far as negativity in their reviews I am so glad that we did. Yes, the auditorium is small but that being said you are in an old church in Salem and what better ambience would you want. I have enjoyed Magic all my life since I was a child and from a professional stand point it was a great show and being a Magician myself and not in this genre of Magic it was enjoyed fully by not only I and my wife but from many others around us as well. I could hear all their conversations around us and they were not only raving about what they saw but confused as to how much of it was even possible. Christopher Grace is a very professional and well presented Magician and would highly recommend this show highly. All being said, when attending any of another Magicians shows I attend as exactly what I was when I was a child and seeing the Magic for the 1st time and not as a Magician. With an open Mind. I never reveal that I am as well unless in fact they already know me or If I find it entertaining enough to take the time to say hello and congratulate them on a great show. Which I did last night. This is one of the best events you will get to see in Salem! There are tons of things to do, but this needs to be on your list. They have crafted a show that boggles the mind and will leave you scratching your head. When we went it was SOLD OUT! It was well deserved. The things Chris does are out of this world. A great combination of magic and comedy. No cheap tricks or shills, only legitimate skill. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and would recommend to anyone with a few hours to kill (or make your way to Salem just for it). Just the right price to sit and watch. read more

The magic was great & the performer was great! Very educational. Was a little disappointed because I thought it would be "haunted" as the title suggested & it really wasn't. There was also a couple in front of us that talked the entire time & eventually left early. Not the shows fault but very annoying & inhibited our experience at the show. read more

Are you going to Salem to get into the spirit of Halloween? I recommend this show 100%. The show includes amazing magic that will entertain and fool everyone, even if you think you know how magic tricks work. Other parts are just shocking when there is obviously no trick, just an amazing performer. Christopher Grace, the magician, started the show by walking on broken glass with his bare feet. He even let someone check his feet for wax or whatever. It wasn't fake glass because you could hear the crackling under his bare feet, even over the screams of the audience. I mean, who IS this guy? Later in the show, he stuck his fingers inside of a volunteer's stomach and pulling out blood and guts. PERFECT FOR HALLOWEEN. For the rest of the show he read people's minds, telling them the names they were staring at in books, or showing he had predicted the initials of a volunteer's cousin, who wasn't even in the audience. The most amazing part was Chris talking about people we knew who were dead. We all wrote down people we had 'lost' and without ever looking at the papers we filled out, he was able to tell us who we were thinking of, and details of their lives. Really spooky! One woman next to me got really emotional, so don't bring any friends who will be offended by this stuff, but if you want a truly spooky time this October, make sure to get to this show before OCT 31! Parking is really easy, with a lot right across the street from the 'theater'. It's a function room of a church, so look for the banner they hang between the trees. They also sell candy and drinks in the lobby, if you can't wait for trick or treat. read more

I attended Salem's Haunted Magic Show/Live Seance: THE GHOST of ARTHUR CHASE and it was awful. This was not a seance at all. The host did silly tricks the entire time, in an effort to convince the group to believe in ghosts and the paranormal. Once he was done trying to convince us, he abruptly dismissed the group by doing a ridiculous "banishment spell" and telling us that it was over. We all looked at each other in astonishment. At no point did he even attempt to do a seance. The guy sitting next to the host fell asleep. One woman was so annoyed by what was going on that she asked "are we ever going to do a seance?" the host gave a nonsense answer by saying "we do less traditional seances." It was supposed to be 90 minutes and it was only about an hour. There were only 12 seats at the table and there were 13 guests, so the host made one of the guests sit in a folding chair, on the side all alone to "keep an eye on things and make sure it was legit" as he explained. If I were that man I would have demanded my money back right then and there because they clearly overbooked and were not prepared. This was a disgrace. This event was an insult to my intelligence and completely falsely advertised. This is fraud at its finest. The tickets were $85 each which is criminal. The people who run this event and advertise for it should be put out of business for blatantly lying in their ad. It is a scam. Don't do it! If I could give this NO stars I would. read more

This is THE BEST magic show I have been to. The magic is so real and mind blowing. Audience participation is very high, which makes it more exciting. My friend and I sat VIP which were awesome seats and had a killer view. The smaller crowd was also a pleasant surprise, it wasn't as huge as what I was expecting which made things even more personal and cool. Words can't explain, just come see for yourself! read more

Total amateurs pretending they know how to put on a production. The magic and illusions are completely transparent and not well executed. Salem during Halloween weekend is impossible to find something to do. We saw this show last year and came back for 2015. It was a totally different show and we had a great time. Not only were there awesome illusions and magic tricks but Jonas was hilarious. The volunteers were really funny also. Definitely recommend coming here when in town! My only complaint was that it wasn't longer and the seats were super uncomfortable at the new location! read more

This show was so bad it was actually funny. The "magician" not only seemed drunk, but he messed up on about 3-4 tricks which was a little pathetic. I was not impressed by any of the "tricks" and would not recommend anyone to go to this show. I was extremely disappointed but at the same time entertained at how awful it was. If you want to waste $20 and watch a semi sober man act on stage as a magician, then this is the show for you! read more

The show was good, At first it had a slow start getting into it by there were many highlights with comedic touches. I went in with my expectations a little higher then what was given for the price of the ticket. Overall the show was good and had a good laugh. The way the performer would talk to the lighting/audio tech did take away from the experience. read more
