The church is over 100 years old and has beautiful, original stained glass windows. They also put on a Christmas Bazaar that has been held every year since 1913 with a raffle and tons of handmade crafts, baked goods and other treats. The church itself is nice and in good repair, with cool stone lines inside to ward off the hot Galt sunshine. Our priest for the day (there were four children being baptized yesterday) did a nice job of welcoming everyone, doing his requisite serious sermonizing and also offering a little sense of humor. And yes, my new little Godson made it through the full mass and ceremony like a champ -- with no crying even when he was getting passed around and being sprinkled with holy water.

When it comes to music in our worship service we play a blend of hymns, choruses from the 70's, 80's, and 90's, as well as newer contemporary Christian songs you might here on the radio. There are a few people in their 20's, 30's, and 40's and a few kids and grandkids, but the majority of the congregation is 60 and older. Our worship service is at 10:00 and usually is over at 11:00-11:15. While Galt UMC may be a smaller congregation they have a big heart! They are a friendly group that not only cares for one another, but seeks to help guests to feel accepted and loved. We are a Church that seeks to guide one another in following Jesus, thrive in community, and heal the world.
