We love love love the eggs from Gama Farms which we regularly buy at the Sunday Mar Vista Farmers Market. Not sure why yelpers have reported them closed, when we see them every weekend! Also we really appreciate that they reuse egg cartons (their own and others) and encourage customers to return empties. As a society we need to be doing more reuse and less generation of trash. They offer volume discount (results in great value over just buying a dozen) and their fresh eggs are not intended to be refrigerated and last. So delicious! I love Gama Farms produce. Most of my breakfast these days consists of their produce. The eggs are the best I've ever had, honestly. In the spring, the chickens must be eating all the bugs and weeds because the spring eggs are LARGE, almost always double yolked, a beautiful shade of golden orange, and CREAMY. I know they feed their chickens well because I am satiated with 2 eggs most days due to the double yolks/large size and just overall great nutritional content. Whereas, I can eat 5 commercial eggs per day and still feel like something's missing. After eating these good quality eggs and royal jelly, my own fertile window and ovulation became easier. Less or no cystic acne during ovulation for me when I eat these good eggs. And when I need easily digestible food, I just eat the yolks raw. They're DELICIOUS! I've been buying their potatoes and onions for several years, and when I stopped being vegan, their eggs were the first ones I ate. And YES, they've been OPEN through the pandemic and are STILL OPEN. They've kept me fed with good quality food throughout the whole thing. Anyhow, I LOOOVE their yellow potatoes. I can tell they're fresh because they're juicy, easy to cut, cook quickly, and don't need as much oil as dehydrated, old, grocery store potatoes. I don't buy my potatoes anywhere else. They're affordable to me as a single person who loves breakfast potatoes about 4x per week. They last a long time if I'm not in the mood for eating potatoes, too. The onions last FOREVER, and are great quality. I typically buy the bag that has more than 1 pound and cook those with the potatoes and for all my other onion needs. Hi everyone this is Nancy Gama one of the owners for Gama Farms.I am trying to fix all the misunderstanding of Gama Farms closing down. We never closed down the farm. My grandma passed away and we had to switch the name to A & G Farms till we were able to switch everything from grandma to Gerardo Gama. Gama Farms is located in Arvin and we have been there since 1989 thanks to Jesus and Elena Gama. To the customer concern of what we feed the chickens: We only feed the chickens fruits, veggies, alfalfa and any bugs they dig from the ground. Chickens are never in cages never fed corn or soy! To the customer who asked about the egg carton being scratched off: We use recycle container so you can always bring us containers! Please recycle don't trash them. Gama farms is allowed to reuse egg cartons aslong as we blur our the original content and put a label of our farm on it with its date, exp date, Julian date, and location. I recently (Wednesday 7/3) purchased a dozen eggs from "Gama Farm" at the OB Farmers Market. When I got them home I noticed the carton had some writing blacked out with marker and the farm's own label stuck on top. No big deal, I thought, kudos to them for being green and recycling used egg cartons. But then my suspicion took over and I decided to google them, leading me to yelp where one reviewer gives the google map coordinates to where their supposed 2000 chickens pasture (or graze, I don't know what chickens do, I just like them to be happy & healthy while they're doing it). I then tried to call both the number on their website and the one listed on that label, BOTH were out of service cell phone #s. Shady! Oh, and speaking of the website, their pictures page shows a few "farmers" picking up sticks, but nary a chicken nor an egg. Hopefully I'm mistaken and the whole operation is legit but I definitely have my doubts; I'll also post this review on the OB farmers market page...it does make me wonder if these certified farmers markets are doing much to actually certify their vendors...perhaps a local news investigation is warranted on the subject? Ps. The woman working the stand also turned into a biatch when I could have a different dozen that was considerably larger, muttering under her breath and copping a major 'tude. read more

I recently bought eggs from "Gama farms" at the Mar Vista Farmers market. The lady at their tent claimed that they are "organic, and pastured raised, and eat only grass, insects, fruits, and veggie scraps". There are no signs up promoting this, so I was slightly sketched out by her claims. I can't find any information on this farm... anyone know what's up? read more

I love this farm! I find them in Hermosa Beach at the farmers market on Fridays, as well as the Redondo Beach one on Fridays near the village. Gama Farms has the BEST garlic around! huge, juicy, tender cloves that taste amazing. I have planted some of this garlic in my own garden and its great :) love love love their garlic. Their smaller sized honey can be purchased for a great deal $7 and its deliciously sweet (how is it sweeter than other honeys?) They also have very nice potatoes and onions. These foods are all staples in our house, so I am very thankful to have a local organic resource such as Gama Farms around! they ROCK! excited for the coming fruit season :) read more

I am a daily egg eater. I like them cooked any style. Over easy to hard boiled, scrambled, poached, and I love hollindaise too! Now, knowing that about me, I have to tell you their eggs are delicious and way better than store bought. They are more "meaty" tasting with bright yellow yolks and tasty whites. My husband is not the biggest fan of eggs and he just loved these. He too commented on the richness of flavor. He normally doesn't eat the whites in store bought eggs because they are flavorless and all slimy texture to him. He ate every part of the Gama egg. I'm giving only 4 stars because the part about the pastured chickens is in question and perhaps not the friendliest service. Still, way better than store bought by a mile. Why would a farmer in Arvin come to Riverside once a week, for 5 hours, and sell rotten and crappy food? I bought a 10 lb bag o f oranges, half were molded, couldn't see it through the bag. Bought tomatoes, eggs, 2 out of 12 were brownish when I cracked them one. I was afraid of what I couldn't see, so tossed them. I bought little potatos in a 1 lb bag. Again couldn't see the wrinkles, and how soft an bad they were until I got home. I'm so mad, I might never go to riverside ca again unless I check every item. I might go back and throw the bad items back to them from across the street. I thought you only got top quality stuff at farmers markets. NOT SO, THEY DISGUISE THEIR CRAP AND DUMP IT ON UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE. IM VERY DISAPPOINTED! read more

I have lots of issues with store-bought eggs, mainly, I don't want my eggs coming out of some nasty factory. I am so happy to have discovered Gama Farms (via Good Eggs). The eggs are amazing! I wanted to read more about them and found a bunch of negative reviews here but I was very pleased to read the farms response and see their photos. Looks like happy chickens to me, outside in a lovely setting. The main thing is, these eggs are incredible! They are delicious and fresh and taste the way eggs should taste. They are at the West Hollywood Farmer's Market (Monday 9a-2p) as well. Thank you Jessica for the review. I didn't know they sell garlic, and will look out for it. They sell great eggs. I get eggs from them because they claim a "no kill" policy, allowing the hens to roam their produce farm freely. This is kind of a grey area because it means the old/sick/slow get picked by predators, but it beats store-bought. 180 eggs or more gets quantity pricing, at par with Trader Joe's. I am NOT convinced the cage free free range eggs i bought this weekend at Cerritos farmers market are TRUE pastured and finished eggs. First of all, when i asked the worker what the chickens ate he kinda looked at me and then turned to help soemeone else. So i waited and asked again, he looks and said whatever is in the ground and waves his hand to demonstrate ground. While i waited, i even thought i should leave now. Shouldnt be so hard to answer what kind of feed the chickens eat? So i bought an 18pk for 6 dollars. Great deal, huh? If you buy pastured eggs you know they can cost btw 5 and 13 dollars/dz. Well here we are making bfast amd these egg yolks are as light as cheap store bought eggs. The shell is hard, but the whites are runny. The yolk, aside from being PALE yellow, is not compact and round, rather it falls flat when i put it in the pan. Im sure these birds hit the grass but what are they eating? Feed? The yolk and white are dead giveaways. Thank but no thanks. I should have known better. Look for a farm you can trust and get legitimate info from! Ill go back to paying more for healthier eggs and leave the deals to those who dont care what their chickens eat. read more

I like their eggs and purchase them at the Culver City and WLA LaCienega farmers market. I'm giving them 2 stars because their customer service sucks. I had a cracked egg in one batch, so I make it a regular habit to check all the eggs (these eggs are not cheap). Every time I do it the person behind the table ask me why I do it. Never once when I tell him/her the reason did anyone offer to replace the egg. I just bought another dozen yesterday. When I told the woman the reason for my careful inspection, she told me they NEVER sell cracked eggs (she inspects each one personally herself) and if it was cracked I must have cracked it on the way home! Not sure about the validity of their pasture-raised eggs... why is there no sign or a way to promote that they are hormone-free, cage-free, pasture-raised hens? I think if a farmer followed such ethical standards, he would have a sign to share this information because it would attract people. The guys selling the stuff were not very friendly and were hesitant to tell much much about the farm when I asked. Something seems shady to me about it. I'd love to go and visit the farm to know for sure. It's very important to me that I don't support animal cruelty. read more
