I regularly attend Magic nights and events here and the staff is both fun and knowledgable. They also have an excellent array of new and used games. They've fixed my PS2, Switch, and Switch 2 for various maladies. Plus TCG accessories, Warhammer, D&D, board game, comics. My local go-to place for all of these things. read more

I have been there for a switch lite charger repair, multiple game purchases, and random stop ins with my daughter for collectibles. each time the staff has been extremely friendly, helpful, and very personable. I plan on dropping off a galaxy s23 ultra for a screen repair, and actually look forward to the experience. I've never done tabletop D&D or warhammer, etc, but if I did, this would be the place to go for everything you would need, including game nights. Love this Place. read more

Great place. They took my vintage Game Boy Color consoles and got them both cleaned up and working well. The store has all kinds of old gaming systems and games as well as any tabletop gaming minis you could think of. Wish i lived closer so i could spend more money here. read more

Best game store in Maine, pretty consistently for my money; around half of all RPGs I own came from here over my 20+ years of collecting. Used to be comics and video games, now it's got a ton of tabletop stuff, as well; I miss the "hidden gem" feeling of the old shop, but I'm glad they've stayed open even through Covid. I enjoy this place! They got some mad cool retro stuff that can be very hard to find. They have game cards for just about every console, and they will take in stuff too! The people who work there are super nice and know all the nerdy ins and outs. They have a really good selection of dungeons and dragons figurines and paints for those. However, their comic selection is a little lacking for those who want to read something outside of DC or Marvel. They have a great selection of tabletop games and game guide books. Tony is a no BS, no frills type of guy when it comes to quoting repairs on devices/consoles/smart phones. If he thinks you could save some cash with a device warranty, he lets YOU decide if you want to go that route or not. Highly, highly recommended! I brought in a 1989 Gameboy, looking to have several repairs done. There was great and consistent communication from the staff, so that I knew exactly what was wrong with my system as well as when the repairs would be finished, as well as what needed to be repaired and why. THANK YOU!! I am a physician assistant at a hospital in Southern Maine, working crazy hours at the moment with the covid-19 pandemic. I was on-call one day last week and my phone fell, the screen shattered and I needed to get it fixed immediately. I called many places close to where I live and was unable to find anybody open or willing to fix my iPhone screen. I called Game Box and they gave me a quote on the phone and had immediate availability. It was a 45 min drive from my house but it was my only option. I did not tell them on the phone that I was a healthcare worker but it came up in conversation while I was waiting outside to pick up my phone (they are very good about safety with social distancing and pandemic precautions). When I went to pay for my phone the asked if I had my hospital badge on me (thankfully I did) and they covered the cost of my iPhone repair! The sweet gentlemen working in the thanked me for my work in healthcare but these fellas deserve a lot praise as well and I am very grateful! This was such a very unexpected and appreciated generous act during a very stressful time. I am so thankful I made that drive to have my phone fixed at this location and in the event I break my phone again (which is likely) I will be making the commute back to Game Box to continue giving them my business. read more

Although they don't have the best selection, they are still a million time better than Game Stop. The owners actually like video games and are very knowledgeable and act like they actually want to be there. They even sell combo NES/SNES systems , which I'm sure work much better than the NES, even back in its heyday. As far as brick and mortar stores go, nobody has them beat. read more

Aside from the slightly smaller selection than some of the big box stores, game box is everything you can ask for in a game store. This store is run by folks who love gaming and it shows. There is no substitute for people who know what they are talking about. This is not only a place to buy the next game you want. It's also a great place to get a recommendation or just talk about what you're playing. Both my boys are thrilled when we go to game box and could care less about the competition. Choosing to shop at game box is a great way to support a local business while still getting everything you need. Highly recommended. read more

This place is the best. The staff are continually finding new ways to go above and beyond with service. They attempted to fix my smartphone, and although they tried everything and it was fried they didn't charge me a penny. I asked them to special order me something, I promptly forgot about it for a long time and didn't listen to the message that it had arrived. When I finally went in to get it, it was right on their desk with a note, no attitude at all. They are funny, and they know what they're talking about. It's not a Gamestop, this is true positive nerd culture and it's an absolute joy to go in. Everyone I've seen at Game Box has been excited to be there, and that goes doubly for the employees. noticed i had a hot butt. rephrase, iPhone in back pocket felt hot. had low batt, screen issues for days and seemed to be swelling. Yelp only had Apple repair in Portland an hr away. spoke to ATT Brunswick who said to go here. it was in fact a swollen battery that i hear could even explode. they had some in stock and was done in under 10min, $30. so if in these parts, here ya go if your pants are on fire (has happened). read more

This has to be one of the best game stores I have been to in a long time. I was able to find copies of Fatal frame and Fatal Frame 2 for far less than on the internet. Staff is extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. They also repair game systems and have games for pretty much every system. If you are into retro gaming this place is worth going to! read more

Should not have comics as part of the title just last few years for back issues. That's a magazine rack not a comic store.

As far as a game/comic store, they have the essentials, consoles, games, comics, cards etc. However being the "mom n pop shop" of video games means your paying TOP DOLLAR for everything. One downfall is they dont carry computer games at all. And use caution when having them repair your systems, they ARE NOT liscensed repairmen, so anything they work on, becomes void on any origional or purchased warentees, and you get stuck going back to GameBox and paying TOP DOLLAR PRICES because NO ONE ELSE will touch it when it breaks again. read more
