This is an old, attractive medieval building on the river, just behind the Green Dragon…read more Unfortunately inside it is a bit run down and dilapidated. In the day it seems to attract families with young children and in the evening older clientelle, probably locals. An old magician called Wally Sleight wanders about in here in the day trying to get customers to buy him a pint in exchange for a trick. Unfortunately there are never any seats out of the riverside but I think (not sure) they have a small garden. Anyway this is another for the ghost guide: Not very exciting I am afraid. The pumps have been known to activate themselves, and ice is thrown around by an invisible hand. Interesting that the Green Dragon, almost next door, has pumps that switch off. Maybe it is the same ghost playing tricks or prefers the beer at the Witch to the Dragon.

You gotta love the age of Lincoln, this building is lovely and like them all is very old. For all of my British mates reading this, yes I know old news!! haha but for us Americans this building is only 11 years younger than our country. It was early in the day so there weren't very many people there. I was met with politeness, open to sit wherever and to take my time. I setup my laptop and had a beer. I thought I would have something to eat and was so amazingly surprised that they had vegan options here! It definitely gave me hope that this was going to be a great trip. The food was great, the beer was great and the service was amazing! It was a great start to my trip to Lincoln, thank you Horse & Groom.

The best way to get to the pub, on a summers day/eve is to walk along the canal path of Britain's oldest man made waterway, the Roman built Fossdyke Canal, from Brayford Pool. They also have a lodge where you can rent a room with kingsize beds. (Not stayed so can't comment). Food yum..you can eat on the terrace until sunset. The main courses are between £9 and £19. Huge steaks. Pan Seared Sea-Bass Fillet.Oven Roasted Salmon Served on a Bed of Wilted Spinach and Sautéed Potatoes with Lemon and Herb and veggie dishes for moi. Lovely place. The heating was off most of the time we were there, the shower room had black mould and the lighting was so dim that it was impossible to read. To sum up i would never go back to this appaling place and would advise other people to do likewise unless they were stranded in a blizzard and had no choice
