I mean early. My prior gym closed and after 10 years of going there at 4:30 AM every morning, I was desperate to find another place that could accommodate my peculiar taste in workout time. I needed it to be close to home and was lucky that the Training Centre had opened less than a year prior. The owners here, Sharon and Michael, are the greatest people ever. Sharon was formerly the co-owner of my previous gym and is absolutely fantastic. She is super knowledgable and very committed to making sure everyone has a good experience. She recognized the need for us early morning people and opens at 5:00AM which still works for me. The place is spotless! So clean!!! The machines are all new, they're modern and well kept, and while the space is more limited than what I'm used to and the congestion is more a function of the equipment being close together rather than by tons of people, it works! There's pretty much a full complement of Matrix equipment and free weights as well as treadmills and elliipticals. Sure, there are some pieces of equipment I wish we're there but I understand and have adjusted. I don't avail myself of the TRX classes or any of the yoga, Pilates, or aerobics but note that the room in which there held is incredibly small and limiting making registering for any of the classes an absolute necessity. I found the box/gym because my high school friend took me to his gym while I was back in town and have been joining him and his family for the past 2 years when I go back to where we grew up. The space reeks of nostalgic CF gyms and that makes me yearn for the days when it wasn't as corporate as some places have become. It's situated in an industrial park and lacks the creature comforts that some boxes have embraced (like A/C, for example). It's beyond clean for a CF gym and has oodles of equipment and devices to ensure you get a proper workout and instruction from one of the many qualified and excellent coaches. The membership embraced me and my loud nonsense (personality) which isn't always the case when I'm visiting other CF locations. They are all supportive, engaging to new people (there have been other instances where I wasn't the only drop-in that class), and there's no territorial or ego struggles among the members. Alex has created a culture that embodies what the name means and has meant for the past 2 decades. I can't recommend TPA/CF enough for people in the area or those looking for a place to drop in and not be judged or held at arm's length the entire time. This is a place for fitness, improvement, and celebration of the fitness journey. What Alex has created here is something truly special and I will be returning soon.
