After arriving in Myrtle Beach SC for a visit with the family, we all zipped over to nearby Conway…read moresince my mother had some shops that she wanted to visit. Since there was a comic book store nearby I knew where I would be spending my wait time while they did their own thing. Upon arrival, I had to say that Power Comics was quite deceiving and didn't look to be all that big from the outside. Wow was I wrong because once I headed inside I saw that the place was huge. The display case counter where you pay is off to the left once you enter and all around are shelves, racks and stands of all kinds with every bit of geeky coolness that one could hope to find. On the main floor they had a few tables loaded with long boxes for books that had moved off of the current releases batch over to the back issues but sadly I didn't manage to find the one single item I was looking for at the moment. This isn't their fault of course and I am just adding more words to the Yelp ;p On higher shelves above the reach of most people were the pricier issues and I mean comics that were in the high hundreds of dollars each. The main floor also had a massive Funko Pop section that I only looked at from afar. I didn't want to find myself snagging any of those since I didn't have the biggest suitcase with me for this trip. Truth be told my Pop additions are few and far between anyway. The glass counter had a number of collectible card sets. On the second floor was the pricier stuff with numerous gigantic statues that ran from the low to high thousands of dollars. I loved quite a few of them but I've neither the space nor the finances to bring even one of them into my small NYC apartment. Among the impressive statues were the Venom-Pool, a cross between Venom and Deadpool and an amazing Skeletor lifesize bust and chest piece. Eventually my folks joined me here and my father was impressed at the level of geek recognition I had for most of these characters. I joked that I could name more Avengers than Yankees or Mets on any day of the week. There were also some long boxes up there as well and they seemed to hold full runs of limited series and a number of collected editions. I didn't thoroughly peruse them so if there were more in there to discover I hope you find something you desire. My exploration found me discovering one of the McFarlane Toys KISS "Psycho Circus" action figures. It was the Space Ace one and with the legendary Ace Frehley having passed last year I just had to grab it. I do wish that they had The Demon but I didn't see one. The staffer onsite was not too chatty but it was early and there is a lot of store to pay attention to so I don't fault them for that. Suffice it to say there is a little something for everyone and I highly recommend this place if you should be in or near Conway, SC for anything. I look forward to going again when I return down to these parts.

Located in Market Commons in Myrtle Beach, SC near the Stone movie theatre and other eateries nearby and within walking distance. We were actually walking from Kings Grille that was about 3 blocks away. Decided to look in here because I love to find a nice book to read. They had a lot of books from romance to steven king to biographies,cookbooks, magazines and more! They also have music cds, vinyls, and dvds for purchasing. Upon looking, I found The Wicked Soundtrack of the original broadway show, and decided upon getting it. I also was looking for a Percy Jackson series books- I think trials of Apollo- and all those books were in the kids section with the Harry Potter Books and Goosebumps. For kids, they also have lots of toys and jigsaw puzzles. An unique thing to Barnes and Noble is that they also had tons of Harry Potter items- such as legos where one can build the scenes of the movies, and various shirts too. I couldn't find trials of Apollo though, but it's okay! Store was clean and organized. Went to the front to pay for the Wicked Soundtrack. Hardly a line, Cashier was pleasant- paid with cash and the total was $13.00 for the cd! Got accurate change. Oh and they also have a starbucks here plus a cafe to sit down and read, and wifi too! This quickly became one of my favorite stores in the Myrtle Beach area. I've never seen so many…read moreawesome things from the past to the modern era in one place! There were so many items from when I was growing up as a kid that I could have stayed there all day having fun. Everything in this store is incredible covering decades from the World War 2 era to now. It would be impossible for anyone to walk in here without connecting with something that made them smile. The variety of collectibles alone is enough for 5 starts. Now what really brings this place to the next level, like 10 stars, is the guy who owns it. He's authentic and passionate about everything in the store. There's so much there that you need him to get involved. He's super knowledgeable and knows where it's all located. I had a great time hanging out with him at the store and even came back a few days later for more stuff. The name of the store is awesome and fits it well. This will always be a stop I make whenever I'm in town!
