Went here for the 1st time on Sunday September 14th 2025 with my parents. I have been at a barnes and noble before, and love the bookshop vibes! Lots of books, and also music cds, and dvds! Located in Market Commons in Myrtle Beach, SC near the Stone movie theatre and other eateries nearby and within walking distance. We were actually walking from Kings Grille that was about 3 blocks away. Decided to look in here because I love to find a nice book to read. They had a lot of books from romance to steven king to biographies,cookbooks, magazines and more! They also have music cds, vinyls, and dvds for purchasing. Upon looking, I found The Wicked Soundtrack of the original broadway show, and decided upon getting it. I also was looking for a Percy Jackson series books- I think trials of Apollo- and all those books were in the kids section with the Harry Potter Books and Goosebumps. For kids, they also have lots of toys and jigsaw puzzles. An unique thing to Barnes and Noble is that they also had tons of Harry Potter items- such as legos where one can build the scenes of the movies, and various shirts too. I couldn't find trials of Apollo though, but it's okay! Store was clean and organized. Went to the front to pay for the Wicked Soundtrack. Hardly a line, Cashier was pleasant- paid with cash and the total was $13.00 for the cd! Got accurate change. Oh and they also have a starbucks here plus a cafe to sit down and read, and wifi too! I walked in and went straight to the service counter where no one was working but no sooner than I touched the keyboard on the "employee only" computer a man appeared. He greeted me and I mentioned the author I was hunting. He did his computer magic and helped me promptly. I slapped him on the back and thanked him for helping me when no other book store could. I visited the Market Commons location with my granddaughter on 4/6/26 to inquire about Nee Doh's sensory toys. The Barnes & Noble website showed the item as "temporarily out of stock online," but suggested checking local stores, so we stopped in. Deborah at the front desk was kind and willing to help. As she was reviewing the website information with me, a woman approached her abruptly and demanded she return to the front desk. She then turned to me and, in a very dismissive tone, told me they did not have the item and proceeded abruptly "was there anything else she could help us with". I replied NO! I was so sorry to have bothered her. I later learned this was the manager on duty, Kendall. The interaction was unnecessarily rude and left both me and my granddaughter uncomfortable. Deborah was doing her job with assisting us and the manager's behavior did not reflect good leadership or customer service. This is not the experience I expect from Barnes & Noble. My suggestion for Kendall is to find another job that doesn't involve customers. read more

Came here to do some work while on vacation for a couple of hours, the cafe had plenty of seating, the wifi worked very well. Parking is free here, it can get crowded with all the other shops around. read more

Probably the most aesthetically pleasing Barnes and noble that I have ever been to! It's in the Market Commons.

Bad experience. The grey haired gentleman (Einstein-esque) who has been at the store forever was so rude to me today. First he brings people to his register in front of people waiting in line. (Out of his line of sight). Then when I tell him that we need some help because the line is confusing. I thought he legitimately responded that he'd tell a manager (since he was busy on register). I was incorrect. He had turned to another customer and said, "Yes. I'll tell my manager the customer says the line is confusing" in a really unnecessarily sarcastic and mocking tone. He proceeded to do nothing to address the problem. Not sure what I did to receive such a crappy attitude. read more

I was looking for a place to grab a coffee while walking though the area and Barnes and Noble had a Starbucks. Works for me! I was amazed that a storefront book store was around. I ordered my cold carmel coffee and looked at some books. This is a great place to come to for reading and grabbing a coffee. I enjoyed the experience. read more

I stopped in B&N for lunch and coffee on the way to an appointment. I like B&N and try to support it when I can. I am a member. The staff indicated they had supply problems and had no sandwiches. They had just run out of soup. All they had were chicken nuggets which they sold for $5.95. They were inedible. One nugget could not be chewed it was so hard. The others were dried out. I told the manager who said she "was sorry" and that I could throw the inedible nugget and trash away. Had she seemed to care, I would probably not be writing this review. read more

I love Barnes and Noble in general and this is a nice one in Market Commons. They have a good selection of books and have staff on hand who are happy to help you find what you're looking for. The starbucks cafe on site has a good variety of coffee and tea drinks to wet your whistle and the dessert selection is AMAZING. I can't believe the variety they have here. Who would have thought. When I purchased my books they gave me a coupon for BOGO cookies and I redeemed immediately. The cookies were large and soft and delicious. i usually really enjoy going to barnes and nobles and i did until i got to the checkout. there's a man who works at this location who literally looks just like Albert Einstein. he was quite annoying and made nitpicking jokes at me. i just wanted to checkout one book and because he wouldn't stop making jokes (which were pretty rude) it took way too long. other employees seemed nice. read more

This place is large and clean with intriguing book displays. All employees were pleasant. The biggest perk is sitting at the cafe to enjoy a drink/snack while reading (buy a book before you go to the cafe... you'll get a coupon!!). There are lounge chairs and outside seating. I was desperately looking for a specific book to read on vacation. I'd been to other bookstores but couldn't find it. We stopped in to this B&N location, but based on how bad the service is at our home store, I didn't have high hopes. However, as soon as we walked in the door a gentleman greeted us, found my book and suggested I check out the clearance table they had just put out. I ended up buying two shopping bags full of merchandise. I highly recommend this location. read more

I like Barnes and Noble, use to visit periodically to browse. But I also buy books online and download to my tablet. It is convenient to buy stuff that way and I stopped going to the brick and mortar stores. After having dinner in Market Commons, we decided to walk off a few calories. The Barnes and Noble is was right down the street so we stopped in. We rediscovered the fun it is to browse the books, pick them up and read the covers. Check out the artwork and actually turn real pages! Oh no, I will be in danger of getting a paper cut!! There is a research /customer service desk with a couple of computers, so you can look up and locate your treasures. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made some suggestions. We wandered around for about an hour and found some books that struck our fancy and made the purchase. Now, it is more expensive to buy the physical book than a virtual one (unless on sale) but the was a bit of satisfaction doing it the old fashioned way. It was fun. I usually walk in to a bookstore just for the smell of it. Having an e-reader is nice, but nothing beats the smell of a good ol' bookstore. I visit this particular B&N when I'm in town, and am never disappointed with the sales and selection of books, toys, gifts, etc. Plenty of parking available behind the building, which allows you to enter through the music / video side of the store, or if you can find parking along the streets of Market Common, you can simply walk in the front door. If you're not a member of the B&N rewards club, be warned that they cashier is trained in pushing memberships, even if it only saves you $4 today, it'll definitely come up in conversation. Aisles and selections are always organized neatly and never messily, which makes for easy browsing. Does Yankee Candle have a bookstore scented candle? read more

So my wife ordered a large white chocolate mocha. When I came in after parking my car I noticed she was sitting and waiting. The three people working at the time around 6:14pm were sitting there talking among each other and not doing anything to prepare my wife's drink. So finally after about 10 minutes when other customers show up they finally start preparing drinks... for those customers. My wife went up and asked where the her drink was and one of the workers turned towards her friend and apologized to her coworker for forgetting, no apology toward my wife. An apology to my wife would have been a start. It would have to be our worst experiences we have had at a B&N and put a swore mood to our vacation. Great location, great bookstore. Located right next to movie theater, Cold Stone Creamery and other shopping and restaurants. My dad likes to hang out here while my mom and I shop around Market Common but we always make end up browsing Barnes & Noble at the end of our shopping trip. They have a great selection of books and other things as well. Ended up purchasing a cook book, 2018-19 planner, pens, a reusable grocery bag and a jigsaw puzzle! There's also big tables and wifi that would be perfect for studying or working, as well as an adorable kids area. Some honorable mentions include records for sale and a Starbucks. The only problem I had was that I went looking for a specific book about living in Spain (as opposed to traveling in Spain). I brought up the books on my phone and asked the employee if they had them and she seemed annoyed with me yet looked them up for me anyways. She told me I could find them online and that was the end of it. I didn't let it ruin my trip, she could have been having a bad day. Barnes & Noble will always be one of my favorite Myrtle Beach hangout locations. There's nothing better than being surrounded by good old-fashioned paper books. read more

How quaint, they have books here that are made of paper. This is one of two traditional bookstores in Myrtle Beach. The other is Books-a-million at Coastal Grand. If you're needing a book or magazine fix then they're both about equal. They'll both also sell you coffee. Of course, you can beat the price online in plants of places but here you can browse it first and have it now. The media collection used to be the place to go but it's 2016 and most folks aren't buying CD's anymore. read more

I went into Barnes & Nobles like any other time I've gone. But this one time I went I felt very uncomfortable, and discriminated. I was looking at books with my siblings that I wanted to purchase but the staff followed me around like I was a criminal. I get it's there job to keep the store safe but it is not okay to invade personal space and ruin someone's shopping especially with family. After buying books, we spoke to the lady respectfully saying if we made it seem any way that was not our attention and how she made us feel uncomfortable. She was really rude about it and did not care. We ended speaking to the manger, who was really nice and respectful, and we explained to her the situation and she understood. She was sorry for our experience. I've gone multiple times to Barnes & Nobles, and it's disappointing how they made us feel uncomfortable in a place I love. read more

I was at Barnes and Noble and I had noticed some workers following my siblings and I around the stores and I had felt extremely uncomfortable. I noticed one of the workers staring at us in the rudest way and I tried making it obvious that I wasn't trying to steal anything. Every where I went there was about 2 workers following us and we ended up buying something and we left. We came back to let them know that they where making us feel extremely uncomfortable and the lady was extremely rude to us. Her response was "okay..." I get it's she job to look after the store but she could have at least apologized for making us feel uncomfortable instead she ended up bringing the manager. We explained what happened and she told us that we were being mistaken with another group in the store but the other group was a group of 10 and we where a group of 3. The manager whatsoever was nice and understanding and apologized for our bad experience. I am a member of the store which makes it even more disappointing that they would think we would steal. read more
