my experience with "garage door doctor" was a good one..my garage door was stuck open about 3/4 of the way and i could not get my car out..called a compnay i had used for years and was a litlle upset at how rude they were and they did would not come out for service..i had a flyer in the mail from"garage door doctor", so i booked online and i waited for a couple of days as it was the weekend..they came out promptly at 8am on monday morning,and the technician (jason) worked extremely hard most of the day taking things apart and explaining what needed repair or replacement (the door itself,not the opener,is about 33 years old-here since the home was built,and rusting out)..after talking and discussing,i agreed the best option might be a new door,buit the expense was an issue..he told me of various financing options and the type of door needed,etcetera,so we had a 3 way conversation via tablet/phone with the office financing personnel who sent photos of the type of door needed,discussed color options and painting,and arranged the paperwork for financing as those doors are not inexpensive..all in all, the professionalism,the courtesy and the explanations were to my mind,the way a customer should be treated,especially on something such as a garage door.. i recommend this company and jason in oparticlar as a technician..he is wonderful and hard working! read more

They charged my in laws $600 for 2 hours of banging the garage door (that wasn't fixable) so they could get their car out the garage. They said this would go toward the final bill should they use them for the repair, but since they were well above $2000 more than locals it wasn't worth it. I had seen an advertisement for a garage door tune up at $29.95. I called and scheduled an appointment for Saturday morning. The tech came out and inspected the door and said he performed the tune up. He told me my springs, which were around 4 years old, were covered in rust and not working properly. He stated if I did not replace them it would ruin my garage door opener among other things. He then showed three different springs and explain the cost and warranty. I told him I wanted to see if I had any warranty left with the installer. I could not reach him until this morning. When I told him what had been done he showed me that nothing had been lubricated and the springs barely had any rust on them. Today when he lubricated the garage door you could smell the lubricant in the air. Saturday there was no smell. For what is worth, I am a 100% disable 76 year old Army veteran with a heart condition. At the weight the tech said the motor was having to lift was beyond my ability to lift, however today I lifted the door with the lifter disconnected. Had technician come out this morning to assess garage door repair. I never could get exact answers from him. He only interested in trying to sell me a new garage door. Then was talking about how was so tired and was off for 2 days , first I don't have you here to tell me about your personal and then pulls up these outrageous quotes on IPad saying I am waiting to call someone to see what he could. Scheduled an online appointment for a 1PM-6PM time span so I was stuck at home for 5 hours waiting. I asked if I could get a smaller window of time, no can't do that, I asked if I could at least get a 30-45 minute ahead of time call to let me know the technician was on his way, no can't do that either. I get a phone call at 5:40PM saying the technician is running late on the last job and will need to reschedule two days later for another 5 hour time slot of my day. No thanks, you guys obviously don't need my business any more. Took an hour for a quote to learn for a new door replacement $4k plus to repair existing door $3K plus then I had to schedule speaking with someone else on which option I would go with and require l/2 deposit for work done. I got my door repaired with new parts etc for $1,400. Guess these rates you charge pay for many radio ads I heard on this company. Shame on you! read more

Garage door spring broke. Paul came out and communicated clearly the issue and options of replacement, then went ahead and repaired and adjusted the door. Following the spring replacement, went ahead and ordered a new door and controller to be installed. The price of the original spring replacement was credited towards new door purchase. Within two days of having the spring replaced, Matt, the new door installer, came out and completed the install within 6 hours. Garage Door Repair We started with Garage Door Doctor they did a tune up and said the springs were shot provided reasonable proof to validate this claim. We were told approximate cost for replacement of two springs would be $1200 with 5 year warranty. That felt high to me but the real red flag was approximate cost, you are standing in my garage and just completed a tune up you should be able to provide me an exact cost. Ask for further clarification and was then told an additional $1184 - are f-------kidding me. I can get an entire new door for approximately that cost. See ya Went to Angie's list found Dupree Garage Doors. They were able to show up at 1 today $325 brand new springs 7 year warranty. Made some suggestions about replacing existing panels (they are 17 years old) and if I do something within a year they'll take into account what I have already spent. Highly overpriced service. They charged $309.80 for the spring on the garage door which Homedepot has it for $50~60. They charged, labor rate, plus mandatory trip charge plus emergency service call fee as all separate line items. Service tech asked me to sign something in the middle that bearing end plate needed to be replaced for $153 additional. Homedepot has it for $10 for pair. They charged two 16 ft Strut bar for $215 each which would be $10~15 maximum. They charged close to $1500 overall for replacing the garage door spring plus adding strut bar to stiffen the door panel connection. I only used them because they were available same day for emergency and they took advantage of me knowing this is emergency fix and I would able to get a pricing comparison. read more

There was a two inch gap of air between the top of the garage door and the garage. The technician moved the track higher and then installed trim to make sure there would not be a gap. The problem was solved and the trim looks great. read more

I called them for service work in Tomball. I gave them the brand of Garage Door (Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster Plus). Now I've worked on this door 2 years ago and replaced the springs. I have the manuals, part numbers, and watched all the YouTube video's on this brand of door mechanism. I offered to send them a photo of the roll up label which give the dimensions and weight of the door but they said they didn't need that. The technician arrive (maybe about 30 minutes late, but they're a service company and I expected that) and told me I needed to replace the parts. He further told me that they don't work on Wayne Dalton doors and they're only made to last 2 years. He wanted me to pay to replace the door. I told him: 1. I advised his company what the brad was and found it unacceptable for him to tell me they didn't work on this type of door especially after I already explained what brand it was. 2. He never identified what was wrong with the door, which lead me to believe he never event checked the springs, cable, rollers, or anything else. 3. He admitted that they're objective is to get the customer to replace the hardware. 4. He told me that he door only lasts for 2 years. I realize that builders always put up the cheapest stuff, but the door has lasted from 2015 when the house was built, and the springs didn't break until 2023. 5.
