Dr. Kofinas examined me and discovered that I had many more fibroids than I had known about and a significant amount of endometriosis that I had not known about at all. He seemed confident that this was the reason I wasn't getting pregnant and we quickly scheduled my surgery to correct these issues. I can't explain the emotion and relief I felt to finally feel like there was a reason for my lack of success and not just "unexplained infertility ", the diagnosis that my previous doctor had given me. I had proceeded with multiple egg retrievals and finally a successful embryo transfer a few months ago! When she finally acknowledged me, her demeanor was rude and dismissive. She unapologetically mentioned that her train was late, as if that excused the delay in my care. When I asked how long it would be before I could see the doctor, since I also had professional obligations, she responded with sarcasm and muttered an incredibly offensive comment under her breath: "These dikes are going to just have to wait," followed by a chuckle. As someone who chose CCRM because of its reputation as an LGBTQ+ inclusive clinic, I was shocked and deeply hurt. No patient should ever be made to feel unwelcome or disrespected--especially in a space that promises compassionate and inclusive care. I will not be returning, and I strongly urge CCRM to reevaluate how their staff interact with patients, particularly those from marginalized communities.

I am leaving Genesis Fertility Clinic because both their billing practices and the lack of…read morecontinuity in my medical care completely destroyed my trust in them. I specifically selected a particular doctor to handle my fertility care. She performed my saline sonogram, and I was later told she would be unavailable during my embryo transfer because she was on vacation. I completely understood and accepted that temporary absence. However, it has now been approximately seven weeks, and I still have not seen the doctor I specifically chose. Instead, I have been seen by two other doctors without receiving a clear explanation of when--or whether--I would see my chosen physician again. If patients are selecting a clinic because they want to be treated by a specific doctor, Genesis should be transparent from the beginning about whether that doctor will actually provide their ongoing care or whether patients will routinely be passed among other physicians. The billing situation made my experience even worse. My pregnancy was confirmed on August 13, so the clinic knew I had transitioned from fertility treatment to pregnancy monitoring. Despite that, on September 2, I was charged a $50 copayment for a pregnancy scan and specifically told that I would be charged $50 every time I returned for another scan. I questioned the amount but paid it while I contacted UnitedHealthcare. UnitedHealthcare verified that my correct copayment for a pregnancy scan performed at the clinic was only $25--not $50. When I contacted Genesis, a billing representative told me they were relying on "old policies" and that they normally verify fertility benefits but do not check pregnancy benefits. That explanation is completely unacceptable. A medical office should verify each patient's current benefits--not charge patients based on outdated information and expect them to discover the error themselves. I was told someone would call me back, but 48 hours passed without a response. I only received attention after calling again and requesting my medical records. Genesis eventually verified the $25 copayment with UnitedHealthcare. The clinic then confirmed in writing that the pregnancy-scan copayment in my chart had not been updated to the correct $25 amount. Genesis is now applying my $50 payment as two separate $25 copayments for my August 26 and September 2 scans. I understand that this may make the final balance equal $50 for two visits. However, that does not erase the fact that I was charged $50 for one visit, given incorrect information, and told that the same incorrect amount would be collected at every future scan. Had I trusted their billing department without contacting my insurance company myself, I would have continued paying twice my actual copayment at each visit. The attitude I received when I questioned the charge was dismissive, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Fertility patients are already dealing with enormous physical, emotional, and financial stress. They should not also have to investigate their clinic's charges, repeatedly chase down the billing department, fight to have their correct benefits recognized, and wonder why the doctor they specifically selected is absent from their care. This was not merely a harmless computer error. Genesis admitted that they were using outdated information and had not verified my pregnancy benefits even though they knew I was pregnant and would require additional scans. I have requested my complete medical and billing records, signed the necessary authorization, canceled my remaining appointment, and chosen not to return. After seven weeks without seeing the doctor I selected, being incorrectly charged, receiving inaccurate benefit information, and then being treated poorly for questioning it, I no longer feel comfortable trusting this clinic with my care. My advice to every Genesis patient is simple: call your insurance company yourself, verify every copayment, compare every charge with your Explanation of Benefits, request an itemized ledger, keep everything in writing, and ask whether the doctor you selected will actually be the doctor treating you.

My doctor, Lauren Bishop, from our first interaction displayed tremendous empathy, consideration, sensitivity, and pragmatism. I knew that I would be able to have a child with the help of doctors and specialists at CUFC. My road to getting enough embryos for a transfer was long and unforgiving. When I suffered set-backs, Dr. Bishop and the care team provided me with the space to grieve while always being ready to reengage. When I decided to do an FET, I went in with very low expectations- the story I told myself was that my egg were "poor quality" and thus I shouldn't hope for one of my embryos to implant in my uterus. Dr. Bishop had faith and encouraged me to lean into the possibility. When I got my beta results, I was delighted; I had already had symptoms of pregnancy so receiving that verification that I was indeed pregnant, really was a sweet treat. I have now graduated from CUFC with my little embryo. We will be transitioning to our OB/midwife now. I will miss the team at CUFC- the effecient check-in's; being in-and-out of morning monitoring in 15 minutes flat; the ability to email my doctor/nurse/care coordinator; the constant flow of useful information about my labs and meds. While I love my midwife/OB's practice, I will deeply miss the care of CUFC.

I called on this past Monday to inquire if they were accepting new clients and accepted my new New York insurance. Wanita, who I spoke to said Dr. Goncharov did not, and I could see one of the nurses Marina instead who is in the office on Fridays in Manhattan. She scheduled me in for the same week on Friday. She needed to validate my insurance number (which I did not have at the time), and asked me to call back the next day. The following day, I called the office with the information and a different woman I spoke to had no idea who I was and had no idea about my appointment on Friday. First red flag. So I rebooked the appointment for the same time, and confirmed that they accepted the insurance. She said yes. This morning (Friday) hours before my appointment, I receive a phone call from Wanita asking for my insurance phone number because she has never seen the insurance before and was not sure if they accepted it after both of them confirmed they did. Is it that difficult to perform a Google search to contact them? Once again, I did not have the card on me and had to call her back with the telephone number, and wait for her to call me back 2 hours before the appointment to confirm if I could even go there. She said that Marina only took it (yes, we already established this and thats why the appointment was with her), but she wouldn't be in the office today. WTF? I had to cancel all of the arrangements I made to come into the office after I had already took the afternoon off of work to come in. Oh, and it gets worse. Wanita said that Marina is sometimes in the office on Fridays, but really had no idea if she would be there the following week or any future Friday in fact. It is a yes or no question after you look at the doctor's calendar. Seriously? Red flag after red flag, I finally said "I'll go somewhere else". It shouldn't take six phone calls to schedule an appointment. If they can't do that right, I'm not really sure if I'd want to trust them with my billing or body.

He and his staff are very caring and it made for a less stressful pregnancy. You can almost always get him to talk to if you have concerns. He delivered my baby April 26 c section. We delivered a healthy beautiful baby boy. While in the hospital, he was there every step of the way. Thank you so much for being so attentive to my concerns and needs.

The billing team at RMA (Cynthia & Iskandar) are great also and helped me with any billing inquiries. The phlebotomists who drew my blood for monitoring are excellent as well. I'm scared of the sight of blood and I get nervous but Yasmin & Jennifer are so kind! It was bittersweet when I graduated from RMA (I am 15 weeks pregnant now). I miss going there! To those who are thinking of going here, please do not hesitate! Have an open mind that IVF is not 100% guarantee....but they will do their best to reach your goal. If you have PCOS, endometriosis, etc., they will not try to get to the root issue and help you, they just want to push you to IVF. Outside of the questionable medical attention, my biggest gripe is with the admin. Nurses take forever to respond, procedures are not explained to you in advance, you do not have a direct line to finance, etc. I had to follow up nine times, including the day of a procedure for them to submit a pre-authorization. To make things worse, after I told them I was no longer seeing them, several weeks later RMA submitted a rogue pre-authorization to my insurance which caused a massive issue. I would seriously avoid this place at all costs. Reproductive health is stressful enough as it is. You don't need the extra layers of stress that RMA creates.
