Since I recently moved to New York from LA, I've been searching for a OBGYN, and thought I found the perfect match with the office of Dr. Goncharov. Unfortunately, due to their poor receptionists they lost a potential patient because of careless mistakes. I called on this past Monday to inquire if they were accepting new clients and accepted my new New York insurance. Wanita, who I spoke to said Dr. Goncharov did not, and I could see one of the nurses Marina instead who is in the office on Fridays in Manhattan. She scheduled me in for the same week on Friday. She needed to validate my insurance number (which I did not have at the time), and asked me to call back the next day. The following day, I called the office with the information and a different woman I spoke to had no idea who I was and had no idea about my appointment on Friday. First red flag. So I rebooked the appointment for the same time, and confirmed that they accepted the insurance. She said yes. This morning (Friday) hours before my appointment, I receive a phone call from Wanita asking for my insurance phone number because she has never seen the insurance before and was not sure if they accepted it after both of them confirmed they did. Is it that difficult to perform a Google search to contact them? Once again, I did not have the card on me and had to call her back with the telephone number, and wait for her to call me back 2 hours before the appointment to confirm if I could even go there. She said that Marina only took it (yes, we already established this and thats why the appointment was with her), but she wouldn't be in the office today. WTF? I had to cancel all of the arrangements I made to come into the office after I had already took the afternoon off of work to come in. Oh, and it gets worse. Wanita said that Marina is sometimes in the office on Fridays, but really had no idea if she would be there the following week or any future Friday in fact. It is a yes or no question after you look at the doctor's calendar. Seriously? Red flag after red flag, I finally said "I'll go somewhere else". It shouldn't take six phone calls to schedule an appointment. If they can't do that right, I'm not really sure if I'd want to trust them with my billing or body. read more

What can I say? My experience with Dr Goncharov has been great. I found Dr Goncharov on yelp and didn't regret it. My first visit, didn't wait long, staff was very courteous and accommodating. I met with Dr Goncharov, didn't know wht to expect but was not disappointed. He informed me of what the next step would be and was pretty thorough with my medical background as I was high risk. They really accommodated me. He and his staff are very caring and it made for a less stressful pregnancy. You can almost always get him to talk to if you have concerns. He delivered my baby April 26 c section. We delivered a healthy beautiful baby boy. While in the hospital, he was there every step of the way. The doctors are great as well as the nurse practitioners. The only problem is the ladies at the front desk- the one on the left and the middle have attitudes and won't even smile, no thank you, no please. The only one who was decent was thre one who sits on the right who immediately informs the patient that they will be called soon. I might as well have walked into a bar and shouted "Hey! Any dudes wanna give me a pelvic exam?!" This man fulfills every woman's fears surrounding a male gynecologist--he is unprofessional, inappropriate and self-serving. "Doctor" Goncharov has a PHD in con-artistry. I visited his office when I was 21 years old and operating on public health insurance--already a dangerous and vulnerable situation. The only reason I chose Mr. Goncharov's practice was because he had rave reviews on Yelp and ZocDoc. Obviously another one of his scams. During my 10 minute visit, he violated my trust in a medical professional and only spoke in Russian to all of the nurses about me. He performed a vaginal ultrasound WITHOUT MY CONSENT--something completely uncalled for and expensive during a routine Pap smear--and placed the creepy cherry on top of the cake of disrespect when he said verbatim "you have a beautiful uterus. It will make your boyfriend or husband very happy one day." After growing as a woman and visiting other doctors who did NOT perform an unnecessary ultrasound or make creepy comments whilst probing my vagina, I would NEVER visit this practice again. I shudder at the idea of my teenage daughter exposed in a room with a man who says "if your boyfriend goes down on you, he could get an STD." A few weeks later, I got two letters in the mail from my insurance company saying "Hey, we were charged about $600 more than what we cover for unnecessary procedures and testing by your OBGYN...it's okay this time, but watch out!" Even MEDICAID had more integrity than a "doctor" trained in the field of female health. Dr Goncharov has worked with me and my wife for months and has gave us a lot of great advise and prep for the big day. Our labor started in the middle of the night and it was not hard to reach him. Dr Goncharov was present during the delivery and got our son out naturally with no complications he really loves what he does and goes the extra mile to make sure mom and the baby are safe. I am a new mom of 3 days to a beautiful baby boy and am so thankful to Dr Goncharov for all that he did to make my pregnancy and delivery as smooth as possible. From the beginning, he spent so much time explaining everything and providing a lot of value added information about what was going on and next steps. For first time parents, this was greatly needed and appreciated. We felt very comfortable and confident during the pregnancy because of his calm and informative style. At the end of the day, the labor is what I was most worried about and having the right doctor that you trust and handles any situation that comes up is what's most important. Things didn't happen in the most ideal way for me as I was overdue, not dilating despite my water breaking, etc. Dr. Goncharov was with me every step of the way and even stayed over in the hospital the night of the delivery to ensure he was monitoring mine and babies progress. I don't know many doctors that would have that type of commitment towards their patients. I truly believe other doctors would have been quick to do a c-section or not be as patient as Dr Goncharov was with my delivery. I was so scared about the pushing and hard labor you hear about but he was so calm and gave such awesome breathing and pushing guidance that my son was out in no time with minimal discomfort. Truly amazing. It was way less difficult and painful than I imagined. And the doctor had a lot to do with that. I'm very thankful and appreciative for all that he did for me and my husband. First of all I'd like to say that it took me a few years to write this comment because i didn't want to write something negative about anyone but I have to about this doctor. In 2017 I got pregnant, very early in my pregnancy I googled and found this doctor based on his good (maybe fake) reviews. I was in my first trimester and this doctor never even did a sonogram on me himself, it was always his Technican. I started bleeding for a few days, I told the doctor that I was bleeding, his Technican did a sonogram and some other tests and never told me that I was having a miscarriage! Finally when I went to the emergency room that same exact day they told me I was having a miscarriage. When I received a phone call from this doctors office regarding my tests they told me everything was fine. Shame on you! How do you see me a few times and not see that I was having a miscarriage. You need to pay more attention to your patients esp very early in their pregnancies! Never went to him again after that. read more

After moving back to Brooklyn from Virginia I thought I left the best GYN in Virginia. I found out I was pregnant 5months after moving back to Brooklyn. I love my GYN I even flew to Virginia for him to confirm the pregnancy. Knowing that was my last visit I started to ask my friends for recommendations for a GYN in Brooklyn, they recommended a few good Drs but I decided to do some research on my own. I found Dr. Dimitry on yelp, he didn't have this much review but I was drawn to him and I decided to give it a go. My first visit to the office I had my guard up. I was pregnant and wanted the best Dr for myself as well as my baby. The wait at the office was not long, the staff is ok lol some of the girls are sweet and some are ok. Meeting with Dr.Dimitry for the first time he broke every barrier I had up. He was very patient, showed a lot of compassion, and answered every question my husband and I had. He provided us with his personal phone number so I could reach him whenever I had a concern and this guy answered every time I called and helped me through what was going on! I've never met a dr like him. My husband and I are truly blessed! We had our beautiful daughter in February and Dr. Di did an awesome job with delivery! I had to have an emergency C section and he came in and explained everything to us. After the birth he came and visited us while our daughter was still ICU, we didn't know what was going on as the hospital told us limited information and Dr. Dimitry took the time out to call the head Dr and update us on everything! Though I am a patient of Dimitry Goncharov, I must say I was in great hands with his father as well. I highly recommend this practice for their limited waiting time (in both the park slope and Madison Ave offices), exceptional staff and the bedside manner of both doctors. Absolutely appalled at Alexander Goncharov, M.D. He completely and utterly mistreated our 21 year old daughter. She went simply to seek advice on the contraceptive pill as the one she had been given was causing problems. He shouted at her, tried to insist on an internal examination, which is absolutely inappropriate and gave zero advice. Telling her to go and see someone else. My daughter travelled over an hour to a last minute appointment as she was really suffering, and to experience this man, was belittling and scary for her. My experience with Doctor G was nothing short of exceptional. His office and staff - two locations, very easy to access(for me having the Brooklyn location was so great because it was so close to home and close to public transport as well). Very accommodating staff and always a minimal wait time. Everyone remembers you by name here and it's so rare to find a doctors office where the front office is so kind and considerate. Dr G- from the beginning of my pregnancy until my baby's birth, he was always there for me. From when I had a month long trip down to Mexico and called him with questions(he would always call back within hours), to when my mom passed away suddenly and he was helping me manage the stress of dealing with that during pregnancy, I always felt very safe with him as my doctor and so thankful he was there to bring my little one into this world. He always saw me during my appointments with him and made me feel like I was a special and important patient and never like just another one. I couldn't recommend his practice more highly. He really goes the extra mile to create a relationship with his patients and makes himself very available. You will never be in the dark about what's going on with your pregnancy and what is happening every step of the way during the actual birth itself. I have NO WORDS for how amazing Dr. Goncharov is. We found him thanks to his amazing reviews on Yelp, so I felt the need to pay it forward and leave one of my own. I wanted a super natural birth for my first baby -- no interventions if possible. I envisioned having the baby at a birthing center with midwives. I ran into complications (heavy bleeding due to fibroid) early on, however, and needed to see a doctor. Enter Dr. Goncharov. I have HATED every obgyn I've ever seen before this. I always felt rushed by the doctors, treated terribly by the front desk staff, and like a cog in a machine (especially from the likes of places like Spring Obgyn - that horrible baby factory). Dr. Goncharov never rushes. He really listens. He is kind and amazingly good at what he does. every visit felt informative and we felt heard. Fast forward to the day I went into labor. Dr. Goncharov called me multiple times during my labor to see how I was doing. He even called at 2am -- who does that in NYC??? Then when i went into the office during my labor (rather than deal with the hospital) he stripped my membranes (twice) to move along the labor process, which worked. When i finally got to the hospital, Dr. Goncharov was there, remembering my preferences for no drugs and yet helping me to move through the labor process as smoothly as possible. He was calm, caring, skilled - everything you want in a doctor. I was able to have my natural birth, and he even did specific work to stretch my perineum so I barely had any tearing. He is THE BEST. I would give him a thousand stars if I could. The new office is also gorgeous, although I didn't mind seeing him in Brooklyn near my home. I worry that he won't be able to be the treasure he is with a new onslaught of patients, but I want everyone who wants an amazing OBGYN to find this one! read more

He is a great professional, knowledgeable, friendly and caring. I almost switched doctor. Heres why I got charged alot for my exam. Naturally I got upset and called billing and insurance. Third party does billing!! The Doctor does not bill!! They read his notes and tries to maximise profit. I talked to doctor and understood why I got billed what I billed and now I am okay with the bill. If you get ultrasound! Expect around 300 out of pocket!! I also understood my current situation more, thanks to Doctor listening to my questions. This is more than I can say for some obgyn. I've been seeing Doctor Dimitry throughout my pregnancy and he was great. Always explained everything , always took his time. I delivered yesterday with his father Dr Alexander Goncharov. First I was a little worried since I almost didn't know him but he was amazing ! Me and my husband loves him. I was in labor for more than 30 hours so when the time of an actual delivery came I was exhausted and noxious. Due to the VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY Unprofessional receptionist I spent almost an hour in the freezing December cold because none of the receptionist.. not one out of the 3 that I spoke to could tell me the correct address of the clinic. How do you work someplace and not know the address? I got the number to this place from a friend and made the appointment via the phone. I asked the receptionist for the address and she told me that she couldn't tell me... So I said, "how am I going to be able to make my appointment if I don't know the address?" She then said "It's 1766 Kings highway" So the day of my appointment I arrive to the address at 3:00pm (my appointment was at 3:15). I didn't see a clinic in sight, I call the clinic and a woman with a very heavy accent tells me that the address is "1766 East Ralph ave" I asked her for directions and she said walk up several blocks to Ralph ave and take the bus down to the clinic. I mapped the address and grabbed a bus to 1766 East Ralph ave, When I get there I again do not see a clinic, I call back again, Its now 3:30 and yet another receptionists tells me that the address is incorrect and I need to head to 1766 E 12th street. At this point, I am freezing and furious, 3 times I was given different directions. When I spoke to the 3rd receptionist she told me that it was my fault because I must have heard wrong and that the doctor would be leaving the office and 4pm and wouldn't be able to see me. I asked to speak to the doctor to figure out what the heck was going on, why no one could give me the correct address and to see if he could squeeze me in or figure out something but the receptionist said that he was with a client even though it was my appointment time. It was such a waste of time. One thing that I know for a fact is that good clinics and hospitals have amazing people that work for them. I would never trust a doctor with my woman's health that would allow any of the fools that I spoke to over the phone to work for them, (people who don't even know basic things like the address they come to everyday to work). Words can't describe how thankful I am to have found Dr. Goncharov. He is certainly as good as it gets and is the best doctor that I have ever worked with. The quality of care is extraordinary and his passion for what he does quite evident in all that he does. I was a high risk pregnancy that had lots of hiccups along the way and Dr. Goncharov always took the time to explain everything and took the necessary actions to ensure that the baby and I were always safe. I could get an appointment anytime and Dr. Goncharov made himself available to get back to me with any questions and for after hour calls. What really sets Dr. Goncharov apart is that he treats you like you're his only patient. He is extremely knowledgeable and is great at anticipating needs to make you feel comfortable. The level of care was tailored to meet my needs not only from a clinical perspective, but making sure I felt comfortable emotionally. As far as I am concerned he is an absolute Saint and has the most important job of bringing life into this world. I cannot recommend Dr. Goncharov more! He has a wonderful, caring personality who guided us through our first pregnancy, despite a couple scary moments along the way. Amazing from start to finish. For starters i am not an easily pleased person and Dr.Goncharov was my third OB. I switched twice during pregnancy and found him at 32 weeks. In terms of office visits they were quick and painless. He spent a lot of additonal time with me checking in with my concerns and listening to me as not only a patient but treating me like a person. When it came time to deliver everything was super smooth. I loved the hospital, and he met me there right away. During the entire time he was genuinely present to both my physical and emotional endeavors. He checked up on me constantly and made jokes and brought an overral confident and humble attitude everytime he came in. I couldnt ask for a better experience. I wouldnt change a single thing about him. Including the fact hes the best dressed doctor i;ve ever met :) Eternally grateful to him for making my experience so easy and swift. Looking for an ObGyn who is in awe of the miracle of giving birth (as opposed to the business of being born), with less then 10% C-section rate? Look no further! The day my son was born, things did not look great: I was overdue (40w+2), my membranes ruptured (big gush @5am, movie style!) without bringing on the labor, baby's heart beat wasn't all that reassuring and my small frame and advanced maternal age didn't seem to help either. I honestly believe that pretty much any other doctor would convince me that my son and I won't make it vaginally and simply schedule us for a C-section. Not our good Doc! With Dr. Goncharov, you more than likely will NOT have: 1) an induction based solely on your due date until 41-42 weeks of gestation, 2) an episiotomy, 3) any other invasive gynecological procedure/intervention, 4) a C-section etc, unless absolutely medically necessary. What you will have is: 1) a positive, drama-free and non-judgmental treatment throughout the pregnancy; 2) access to the most accurate and comprehensive non-invasive prenatal genetic testing/screening (Panorama etc.), 3) close and frequent monitoring towards the end of the pregnancy to ensure baby's well-being, 4) enough time to labor, 5) enough time to push, 6) immediate skin-to-skin contact after delivery, 7) delayed cord clamping, and much much more. Looking back, I can honestly say that the day I gave birth to my son was the best day of my life. Both me and my husband actually enjoyed the entire process, not only the 8lbs 4oz end result. It was a truly glorious, empowering, out-of-this-world, triumphant and nearly orgasmic experience for both of us. My recovery? Beyond smooth and quick, with minimal postpartum bleeding/lochia and virtually no pain.
