I would say 3/4 stars for therapy and 1 or even negative stars for dealing with insurance, billing…read more... I would never go to an Ivy Rehab facility again. I had a series of compounding injuries last year and in different referrals went to Spear, Park Sports, and had in home therapy and there are definitely pros and cons to all of them. At it's best, I definitely got more attention and personalization from the physical therapist at Park Sports than at Spear. But at it's worst, the therapist seemed uninterested in being there, arguments over pulling down the parallel bars needed to safely do the exercises I needed, and sometimes attitude about asking for a rest. I'm really grateful for the good sessions, especially in the beginning. But even if it was sporadic, having those negative sessions and not knowing what energy I would be met with was difficult. I was also asked to redo my progress survey so it would look like I had improved more than I had to corporate. Like Spear (and all PT I've had in NYC) the therapist meets with you for about 15 minutes and then supervises while also treating several other patients. I've now moved and benefit from greater one on one support. In terms of insurance and billing, it felt like no one was communicating or keeping track. The front desk would tell me to ask the therapist who would tell me to ask the front desk. I was pressured to front load my sessions (they even wanted me to come in several days in a row, which I pushed back on). I didn't even know I'd gone over my allotted sessions and was told I would definitely be able to get more through insurance ... Then got a surprise bill for over $700 right before Christmas. I did not get calls back from the front desk, and Ivy rehab has been incredibly difficult and at one point rude to deal with. They say my insurance just hasn't given an answer to the forms they submitted. My insurance says the forms where never submitted and they don't even have records of my last month of sessions being submitted for insurance at all. It's a mess. I was told they would put a pause on the bill while insurance decided, but they sent it to collections without warning me. I don't really know who to believe. By contrast, Spear and insurance/billing was 100% clear and everyone was always on the same page (my therapist there helped me space out the sessions to cover the whole length of anticipated recovery time) and insurance showed everything being submitted on time. As I said, I have mixed feelings of gratitude and frustration. I would say if you want to work with Park Sports be ready to be on top of the insurance and don't let them front load your sessions if you have a complex injury with an unknown projectory.

This place has clearly merged with a larger conglomerate and, while I feel the individuals here by…read moreand large give a strong effort and do care, the experience here ultimately feels too much like an unfeeling bureaucratic nuisance--not the sensation you want when you are struggling, in pain and in need of help. The therapists I saw here were kind and helpful where they could be. Over the span of three months, largely going twice per week, I don't think I ever had an appointment here my therapist had fewer than 3 patients at the same time slot. I am largely a self starter and follow directions well, but the lack of immediate feedback or direct instruction could at times be quite frustrating. Want a recommendation for a specific therapist? I can't give you one, all three therapists that I worked with left here in the short time i had been coming here. Their website is super old, clunky, and frustrating as well--lots of downtime and system maintenance, I had multiple issues logging in even after resetting and verifying my password. With the minimal direct feedback you receive during sessions, a lot of relevant information related to your treatment is here, and did not feel as accessible as it should be. When I needed information or to make or change an appointment, it would often take a couple of calls or emails for a response. As I said, people were kind, and seemed to want the best for you--and I did make physical improvements during my time here. But ultimately, if I do need more PT in the future I think the strong likelhood is that I would seek out another option or facility.

I had a nagging leg injury from a…read morehike that wouldn't go away on its own, so I decided it was time for me to finally get professional help. I could have gone with a traditional, if not, old school physical therapist, but decided to give PhysioRX a try. I was nervous about going here though, as I'm not a super athlete or major weight lifter but figured if they had such great reviews, that I should give them a shot. I'm so glad I did! I had my phone consultation, then an in person one. I mainly worked with Connor who was an absolute joy to work with. While the approach wasn't what I expected, I am just as happy as every other reviewer. Once I did the phone and in person consult, I was equipped with an app where they assign all the exercises specifically for you. It was so easy to use. The exercises were personalized for me, and when I found ones I didn't like, they'd swap them for something else. I basically texted Connor and Will 4-5 times a week on my progress. Will, who was my secondary coach and available just as much as Connor was, and he was also awesome. Even if I didn't give them an update on how my workout went, they'd often check on me anyway. I had some weeks where I really didn't want to go to the gym, or felt very discouraged. They were there every step of the way. We even did some check in calls which I appreciated so much. I only intended on working with them for 1 month, but every time the month was finishing, I felt I had a lot of progress and continued my journey to 3 months. To be honest, I'm soooo sad to finish my 3 month stint because both of them were so great to work with, and I've seen major improvement in my leg. As someone who doesn't see themselves as an athlete by any means, their coaching really helped me get to a good place. I also realized that I was going to the gym all wrong for years. I learned so much from this experience, and kind of see my injury as a blessing in disguise as I now view rehab, exercise, and the gym in a completely different way. Thanks to Connor and Will for doing such impactful work. If I ever get injured again (although I hope not), I'll gladly reach out to PhysioRX. If you are on the fence, just book some time with them. You won't regret it!

It was super quick easy to set up an appointment by calling the clinic or filling out the form online. Their front desk staff are always so welcoming and helpful, and their therapists are highly skilled and knowledgeable. The space is bright, clean, and well-maintained, and the clinic is conveniently located near the Bergen St subway station and in a super cute neighborhood with lots of shops, restaurants, and bakeries. I worked with Kevin who is very friendly and professional. He was very attentive, from taking the time to time to thoroughly assess my condition to ensuring that I performed the assigned exercises correctly to prevent further injury. He regularly checked in on my progress and made adjustments to my personalized treatment plan as needed. I felt like he was truly committed to my recovery and that I wasn't alone throughout this journey. I'm super happy with my progress since starting PT at Spear. Not only did my pain decrease significantly, but I have also gained strength and mobility. I was so anxious that I would never be able to run again, but I have since been cleared to run even longer distances along with enjoying other physical activities (e.g. biking, rock climbing) that I love! I highly recommend this clinic.

My neighbor, Mr. Chen, a 30 year member of our tightly knit Forest Hills street took ill four months ago, and I had slight reservations (mixed emotions) about going to see him even though we spent a lot of time together over the years. A stroke hit him quite hard and I was told that it severely hampered his memory, that he does not speak and that he mostly confined to rolling chairs and mechanical beds. Nursing homes always feel like Gods waiting room to me, they sadden me as the next step seems so near. Attached tubes to veiny bodies, hollowed screams down long halls and the empty eyes fluttering about are all abound. Bedford is smaller in scale, attendees and health care workers are on the go, room to room, activity to meals, smiles beaming when they look up to greet you. I found this to be the continuous theme from my arrival to my departure and the end result? Peaceful minds, content eyes, friends and family's gratitude.
