Of course I bought some nuggets, cones, and fries, they are known for their fresh, crispy, well seasoned nuggets. The vibe is super casual and convenient, but during busy times, the wait can be a little longer than expected. Worth the wait for something fresh and clean. Today I decided to try one of their spicy sandwiches. It was a bit though. I wasn't a fan. especially with all the competition around to get a better quality chicken sandwich, I'd wouldn't wanna order that from here again. This place has nosedived in quality in the past year. I have been here on several occasions and have been consistently been disappointed with the experience. The last time I came here to eat something, I ordered a special and waited nearly 30 minutes for it. I was wondering what was taking so long and took a glance at the kitchen, and noticed how short staffed it was. This place is also insanely understaffed. In the past, there were far more workers working different shifts on different days of the week. But now, they are only rolling with the same few people who are likely tired and overworked by all of these orders. If you are struggling with staffing, then you should be putting a big help wanted sign up. If you're understaffed, be honest about it and say that you need more help and you're struggling. After getting home, and getting my nuggets and fries after 30 minutes, I took a bite into the first nugget. And it was raw and undercooked. I spat it out and threw out the bag right away. Food is good, all the kids love it which is why it's so popular here, college, high school, middle school etc. however, I've had the most frustrating time getting an order after 8pm. They used to close early (8pm) but recently they extended their hours to meet the needs of this community. Today I tried to order online, I finished my order at 8:33, but missed the 8:30 cutoff by 3min. When I drove there to order, I double checked and the sign on the window said they close at 9pm despite most of their interior lights being turned off. The person at the register mumbled all the things they couldn't make since they were "closed" (it was 8:40). I wasn't able to order everything I had hoped but I ordered nuggets and fries/cones, I needed to feed dinner to the teens at home. So in a nutshell, as an adult this place has always annoyed me with their sub par customer service (I really only expect kindness and a smile). But today was it for me, the early closing, can't can't can't. The kids like the food but since I'm the adult that pays for it, I'm done. Kids opened up their food, only one bag of nuggets...$20 later and hardly any chicken. Even my teenager said, they skimped on our order because they wanted to get out of there. read more

This is a place that in my opinion has only gone downhill since they opened their doors years ago. When they first opened their food was delicious and they were very generous with the portions. About 2 years ago they remodeled the store, I don't know if they went under new management, ownership or what, but ever since then things have been worse. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap today, my favorite sandwich, which I've gotten for the last 7 years. Now as I said things have only gotten worse there. When I first got this sandwich back in the day it actually had buffalo sauce on it. Now it's like someone sneezed buffalo on it, I always have to ask for extra sauce. But today it was tiny! Like fit in the palm of your hand tiny. After my order I got a text message from garden catering asking how my experience was. I stated this was the smallest sandwich they have ever served me. Now here's why I give two stars... Rather than apologize, or offer to investigate and get back to me, I am basically told that I am wrong. The explanation I was given was that their portions are according to weight, and that the sandwiches have always been that size. And then they gave me a coupon which I assumed would be for a free meal, I clicked on it and it was for 25% off. I mean I guess that makes sense since they're giving me 25% less sandwich? With so many options on Black Rock turnpike I don't think I'll be returning to garden catering to use that coupon anytime soon. read more

Fast service and friendly staff, nuggets are crispy and taste like real meat. They don't have too much flavor but the sauces you can pick from are tasty as well as the seasoning they sprinkle on right before they serve you. I usually go to the New Haven location since I live in Hamden but lately, I've been coming down to Fairfield because this location does my favorite dish better than the New Haven one. Better portion size, more seasoning coverage, and even the right amount of sauces for the order. I'll definitely be back regularly for the next 2 months. I recommend trying the "Big Jeffrey". Day 35 of Covid Lockdown: After finishing a long week working from home decided to go for a drive and since it was getting close to 8pm, tried to find someplace nearby. I was craving Layla's Falafell so stopped over in Fairfield, and noticed another restaurant right next to it, with people waiting outside. I read out loud "Garden Catering" which made my daughter get into a frenzy and she kept shouting, "oh you have to get the Potato Cones". Since I have learnt not to question her choices, we went ahead and placed an order of the Potato Cones and "Spicy Mac Bites". After having waited for 10 minutes a young lady popped out of the store and left our order on a table. Being the impatient types we both tried to sample what we had ordered before we even made it to the car, and after one bite of the Spicy Mac Bites, I just called the lady back and placed a another order of them. The hostess was delighted by my enthusiasm and was so kind that she brought out a large cup of cookies and cream milk shake to go with our order. In this day and age, such gestures are so rare to find, that I was taken a back by such kindness. After spending the day at Yale, I decided to make a 30-minute drive south to Fairfield, CT to try some of these nuggets that one of my classmates (who we will refer to in the most endearing way possible as Nerd #1) have been raving about. Nerd #1 spoke highly of these nuggets and highly recommended them. Therefore, as the smartest person in the program, I didn't want to argue with Nerd #1 so I had to try these nuggets myself. Garden Catering has a small private parking lot that they share with about four other businesses which made parking quite difficult to find. The atmosphere at Garden Catering has that of a fast food/take-out restaurant, but who cares what the place looks like, I AM THERE FOR THE NUGGETS SO GIVE ME SOME NUGGETS! Ordering the chicken nuggets is quite simple, you go up and tell them about how many pounds or fraction of a pound you would like and give them your name and you wait. The wait is not long, so if you are craving chicken nuggets, you don't have to worry about murdering anyone to get your chicken nuggets. Once you receive your nuggets, MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR THE SPECIAL SEASONING!!! This makes the nuggets so much better! The special seasoning that they offer to their customers enhances the chicken nuggets because the saltiness and various spices elevate each nugget. Without this special seasoning, I believe, in my own opinion, that the chicken nuggets would be lackluster because I tried some without the seasoning and I didn't want to go back. In regards to the nuggets, I would describe each nugget at Garden Catering as being uniques since each nugget is uniquely shaped and no two nuggets are the same (you can name them if you want, but don't get too attached)! The nugget themselves are lightly battered and fried to a nice golden-brown crisp. The batter to chicken ratio is perfect to the point that you are able to taste the chicken in each bite as oppose to being overpowered by the batter. The nuggets were not oily like the stereotypical fried food nor were they heavy. Honestly, I could have eaten more! Furthermore, each chicken nugget was moist and plump. Overall, the journey to Garden Catering was worth the 2 hour drive and yelling at some CT drivers. Nerd #1 did not steer me wrong in recommending this place! read more
