    Beautiful flowers and gazebo

First established in 1958 by an Italian immigrant who saw an opportunity to capitalize on the post-World War II housing boom and serve a generation of proud, young homeowners, the Garden City Center of today is still a premier outdoor shopping destination for locals and visitors alike. Whether you're looking for name brands or independently owned shops, casual dining, or date night fare, this open outdoor mall is full of live, flowers, trees and open spaces. Check out stores like Mod Mama for future mothers; culinary goods from Williams Sonoma; athletic outfits from Lululemon; fine jewelry from Providence Diamond; trendy women's fashion pieces from Francesca's; upscale home decor from Pottery Barn and/ or Crate and Barrel; a box of goodies from Sweenor's Chocolates; and chic women's styles from Chico's. Eat at Tavern in the Square, Asia Grille, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza, Avvio, Bistro 22 and many others......Top off the day with a Rhode Island ice-cream favorite, the Awful Awful at Newport Creamery.

This is one of the most beautiful places you can visit in Cranston Rhode Island. Unfortunately due to the virus situation I just wanted to post pictures of the establishments to let people know the stores are still here but the employees are not. Businesses are suffering but some still have take out. I'm hopeful and praying businesses will be taken care of as well as the employees suffering during this crazy time. Walking around the shopping center is one mile so it's nice to walk and window shop, with proper social distancing of course! Some of the restaurants still offer take out which is a great thing. I can't wait till we return to some type of normalcy!

The absolute best! If you're looking for great family-friendly community events, restaurants, small-business pop-ups- visiting Garden City Center is a must. I love coming here with my pups because there are so many dog-friendly stores!

Oh, Garden City Center... The years have come and gone, and you've always been there. From my very first job at age 15, to many others to follow through high school and college summers. I've worked here, I've shopped here. Recently, a TV show I worked on shot a scene here. How surreal that was after all of my history here! Some of the stores have long gone--the Sam Goody where I worked, Express--and others are a reliable constant--like Williams-Sonoma (another former employer of mine), the Gap, Yankee Candle. In the summer, on Wednesday evenings, they host live music in the Gazebo. Although shopping here may seem seasonal due to its outdoor nature, you'd be surprised. There's always an excuse to head to Garden City Center, any time of year. I'm sure you can easily find one... if not for the Awful Awfuls at the nearby Newport Creamery (yup, I worked here too), then maybe for a little something something at Victoria's Secret ;-) Shhhh, I won't tell!

No one here during the Pandemic.

Located in an unoccupied storefront there is plenty of space and it was almost full of vendors. The market was well attended during our visit around 11:30 with lines cueing up at some of the vendor tables. I did not see any produce vendors, and I suppose there is not much fresh veg growing in RI in February. Many of the vendors have socials accounts, websites and business cards. Definitely stop by and see if there is anything of interest. We found several vendors that would make good resources for gift giving in the future. The mall is doing well with most storefronts occupied. Rocky Point chowder house is to be opened in the food court. I look forward to that. Plenty of parking. Public restrooms near the food court and a nursing lounge near the middle of the mall.

The mall itself has a number of seating areas along the concourse as well as a food court that features a carousel and once featured botanical carousel horses. The anchors are your average mall anchors (JC-Penny, Macy's, Old Navy, Jordan's Furniture, Target, and Golf Galaxy), but it's still a good mall nonetheless!

We were staying in a hotel across the street and needed to get some Providence souvenirs. I looked up gift shops/souvenir places and it told me to head to one of the stores in The Arcade. Walking in, you could tell this place was extremely beautiful once. The architecture is incredible and there is a lot of potential here. People comment that it's underutilized and they aren't wrong. Even though the place is bright and sunny and feels safe, there's also a feeling of abandonment and dereliction that I just couldn't shake. There aren't many stores to shop at or places to eat at. There's one restaurant that seems to be doing well, we saw people at the whole time we were in Providence, but that was it. Hopefully, soon, more life will be injected into this place because it is very beautiful and historical and has a lot of potential.
