I've always enjoyed exploring the Garden City Center, an open-air shopping center in Cranston, and I've seen signs for Garden City Center Farmers Market around. I had the opportunity to visit on Sunday, September 14th. Garden City Center's historic gazebo green transforms into a vibrant, open-air Farmers Market. The Farmers Market is every Sunday from May 18 through September 28 from 10 AM to 2 PM. I wandered and checked out the local vendors. There were a great variety of them. I purchased a really cute coaster from The Book Emporium RI. The Book Emporium RI sells books that are wrapped and you have a blind date with a book. I also purchased a lavender sachet from 15 Lavender Place. I spoke with the owner and she told me all of the lavender is lovingly home-grown and hand-harvested, ensuring the highest quality and care go into every product. There were soothing lavender eye pillows, relaxing neck wraps, sprays, and bundles of dried lavender. I also went to Fully Rooted to purchase two bottles of freshly pressed juices-Watermelon Slice and Golden Greens. There were also local food trucks, farm booths, and local makers. The Garden City Center Farmers Market is a market for everyone. Either if you just want to stop for coffee, get produce for the week, flowers, dog treats, see alpacas, and so much more. read more

Garden city center truly is a great spot, packed with retail stores, amazing restaurants, cafes and dessert spots, this space is always evolving. It's clean, I love the markets, the special little book library, and all the things it has to offer. It is clean and hip and has so much to offer. What a great location to shop or dine. read more

Loved coming to Garden City! It's such a nice spot to walk around, shop, and grab food. There's a great mix of stores and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The whole area feels clean and inviting, and parking is usually pretty easy. We loved taking a stroll after dinner as well. I had to update my review since they have updated this place since my last review. There are more businesses and it just looks nicer overall. We just enjoy visiting the place especially on a nice day. There is even a Little Free Library that looks like a retro gas pump. There are decent looking restaurants; I noticed the Indian restaurant as we walked passed by, it smelled so good; will have to dine in there next time. The parking layout is still the same. Everytime we visit the area, we have to make a stop. We love stopping by Sweenor's to get treats for ourselves and gifts for our family. If you're in the area, it is now worth a visit! read more

Disappointing. It seems very disorganized and the in/out could be better. The variety of stores and restaurants is good, but there just wasn't an energy to the place. I had gone to Wrentham Outlets the week before and was expecting a similar experience, maybe that's on me. The place just seemed lifeless. Parking is a bit of a challenge, and the you have to be careful in the parking lot as many cars ignore the 15 mph speed limit. read more

This is one of the most beautiful places you can visit in Cranston Rhode Island. Unfortunately due to the virus situation I just wanted to post pictures of the establishments to let people know the stores are still here but the employees are not. Businesses are suffering but some still have take out. I'm hopeful and praying businesses will be taken care of as well as the employees suffering during this crazy time. Walking around the shopping center is one mile so it's nice to walk and window shop, with proper social distancing of course! Some of the restaurants still offer take out which is a great thing. Oh, Garden City Center... The years have come and gone, and you've always been there. From my very first job at age 15, to many others to follow through high school and college summers. I've worked here, I've shopped here. Recently, a TV show I worked on shot a scene here. How surreal that was after all of my history here! Some of the stores have long gone--the Sam Goody where I worked, Express--and others are a reliable constant--like Williams-Sonoma (another former employer of mine), the Gap, Yankee Candle. In the summer, on Wednesday evenings, they host live music in the Gazebo. Although shopping here may seem seasonal due to its outdoor nature, you'd be surprised. There's always an excuse to head to Garden City Center, any time of year. I'm sure you can easily find one... if not for the Awful Awfuls at the nearby Newport Creamery (yup, I worked here too), then maybe for a little something something at Victoria's Secret ;-) Shhhh, I won't tell! read more

Garden City has made a fantastic turn around in recent years! As a child growing up, Garden City was the premier shopping center in Rhode Island. Top notch, high send stores, our school clothes, shoes and much more came from stores in Garden City. Slowly like many other malls I felt Garden City started to falter and had become a pretty desolate place that didn't have the offerings I remember. Garden City was able to accomplish what many other malls throughout this country couldn't do, and that was adapt to our changing economy and way of shopping. Adding new stores, LA Fitness, restaurants, Starbucks, most on the higher end scale and expanding adding newer restaurants have really revitalized this area. We're here often on Sunday morning for brunch at Tavern in the Square, I'm also a member at LA Fitness (even though the North Main location is closer), if I am here for shopping or to eat, I'll stop by at the gym. You can't just leave the gym without stopping for a coffee at Starbucks! Perhaps maybe buy a book from the bookstore there. To wrap it all up, Garden City is still the premier shopping center in Rhode Island. It has easy access to the highways, plenty of parking and top notch stores. read more

Garden City is the loveliest shopping center in the greater Rhode Island Area! The variety of shops, stores, specialty shops and restaurants surpasses other centers. It is son pleasant to walk outdoors, in the fresh air, go into shops where salespeople are so very friendly and inviting and to always find sakes, everywhere - such a delight! Now, with some Saturdays designated as outside strolls, it is eve more delightful. I do wish there were some awnings and pretty overhead coverings to walk under, to shield us from hot sunshine or raindrops, though. read more

This place has pottery barn, create & barrel, Williams Sonoma, legal C, the new tavern, ll bean and so much more. Garden city is so well designed. You don't see outside plaza around this area done so well. There's piped in music as you walk the outside mall. The landscaping is so well done . The parking is easy . The plaza offers so many stores which you can shop for workout casual or sporting. There is a new LL Bean store that had newly opened. Crate and barrel with a pottery barn! The restaurants in the plaza are amazing . We had a great meal at a little Italian place. In the spring it's better than the PP Mall . I love that they have everything you need in one area. Plus around the corner is my favorite whole foods market If your a shopper this is the place for you. read more

I have been shopping in Garden City for yearssss. I remember my parents always taking me to KB toy store as a kid and getting chocolates with my dad from Sweenors was my favorite thing :). Now as an adult and things change its always nice to have good memories and still enjoy shopping in the same place but with a few new or different stores. This is the perfect shopping center for literally anyone. The variety of stores to plenty of restaurant & food options to coffee shops is amazing. Many of my favorite shops are in this plaza (Victoria's Secret, Sephora,Starbucks,Loft,Yankees candle) that's just naming a few. It's nice to be able to walk to each, rather then spend the day having to drive to each individual place. The only reason I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars is because of the parking situation. It makes no sense,has no structure, is so chaotic, gives me anxiety, drives me nuts..I could go on LOL. They're just isn't enough parking spots to accommodate the amount of shoppers and is really unfair. It's impossible to find a spot without having to pull a major U turn and keep searching. I wish they could figure that out because other then that garden city is where it's at. read more

My all time favorite outdoor shopping center. Tons of great stores and restaurants and they just keep making it better. They recently added a ton of new restaurants such as: Legal Sea Food and that new tavern. They also have some stores that you can't find anywhere else in RI such as Z Gallery which unfortunately went out of business. They also have some classics like Victoria Secret, Anthropologie, White House Black Market, Newport Creamery, Applebees, & Providence Diamond Company. They have a lot of stuff for Moms such as ModMama & the new Hannah Anderson store? I'm not sure if that's the exact name but their definitely on the expensive side. They do outdoor concerts in the summer and they have the Easter Bunny & Santa Claus for the kids around the holidays. I LOVE Garden City- always have! I love that Barrington Book store but I also can remember when Woolworth and Border's was there! So I've been coming here my whole life and I take my son here now! read more

Are so many interesting restaurants here. Love Tavern on the Square but the choices abound. Worth the trip just for that. The stores are various and lovely to have in one place. Old Navy, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Bath and Body Works just to name a minute few. The Container Store was our destination but we'll be back. read more

Faced with the other "shopping centers" in the PVD-Cranston-Warwick area, Garden City is a shopper's dream. Great shops with pleasant and visually appealing grounds and while this is of course a mall, it doesn't feel mall-ish at all. It is quite sprawling, and the northern end of Garden City is where the fun shops like Anthropologie, the new Lulu Lemon and Williams-Sonoma are clustered. You'll also find the new Pottery Barn and The Gap mixed in with local non-chain restaurant Papa Razzi and a Pinkberry. The addition of the gazebo and park area are lovely, although they really do cut into the already difficult parking situation. You have to know up front that these shoppers get damned territorial, and will cut you off and risk getting a dent for a parking space - it's seriously cut-throat and totally ridic. Towards the southern end, you'll find a but less exciting stores like iParty, Office Max and a few other bland businesses, BUT - round the corner and you've got the annex with the glorious Whole Foods, Wines & More and Courtesy Cleaners... Basically, an errand-runners dream. read more

Garden City Mall is fun. From the many options of shopping centers most likely I will choose it over others. Open space malls are always better. They keep improving and make changes so it is always in progress. Also good spots to have good coffee. And for my opinion this is a must at every mall. Garden City is a great place for shopping in a suburban atmosphere smack dab in the middle of Cranston. The center has a large variety of stores, from clothing boutiques to candle stores to coffee shops. That said, Garden City to me is very much divided into two sections, which I lovingly refer to as "Good" Garden City and "Don't Bother" Garden City. Here's how they stack up: "Good" Garden City: GAP, Anthropologie, Starbucks, Victoria's Secret, Pinkberry. You name it, they probably have it. This section is quaint, the grounds well-manicured, and the shopping is top notch. This is where I go when I go to Garden City, as I don't bother with the other section (aptly named "Don't Bother"). "Don't Bother" Garden City: This area is an expansive reminder of what used to be there - now lined with a slew of empty stores and random businesses (Country Curtains, Snippits, Office Max, and some watch place I think). There is nothing over in this area that attracts business, and this was not always the case. Not more than 5 years ago a Linens N Things, Circuit City, and Borders lived in this area (notice a trend?) - maybe it's just bad luck that 3 major retailers who happened to all go out of business in the last few years were all situated next to each other in this section of Garden City, but it's certainly noticeable and unappealing. Do not get your loved ones a Garden City Gift Card because it is a ripoff if they do not use it right away. Being on a tight budget, we usually stockpile our gift cards for a rainy day. Honestly, we could never afford to shop here unless someone gave us a gift certificate for a store here. My MIL got us a $50 gift card and unbeknownst to us, they tack on a $2.99 monthly maintenance fee for every month that you do not use the card once it is activated; so, now our $50 gift card is worth $38.04. We were planning to go use the card at one of the stores here to splurge on a couple of items for my twin daughters back to school shopping. Garden City Shopping Center, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. read more

You know I guess growing up in Cranston I am bias but I really enjoy Garden City. I think that there is something for everyone here. Plan to walk when you come. Parking is right in the middle of all the stores so you may have to take a hike to get to your desired location. During the summer they have a concert series which is nive. You have Newprt Creamery, or Pink Berry to grab a treat. If youre hungry there is Applebees, Papa Razzi, Chipotle. Starbucks for coffee. The post office if you need one. I could go on and on. A lot of people dont know that you can buy a GCSC gift card too. It gives you the flexibility to spend it where ever. read more

And some of their newer additions have really made it the best place to shop in Rhode Island (Lulumon, Cohoes, Pinkberry, Anthropologie, etc.). There are many, MANY stores to chose from, but it still feels very intimate. It's a great place to shop with someone or solo. And because of the slower pace than the mall, it's really easy to actually enjoy your trip. Oh and there's a Newport Creamery, which will beat a food court any day of the week! read more

Garden City Shopping Center has plenty of shopping options to make me & my family happy. Great food spots like Chipolte & Pinkberry. Great clothing shops for adults & children like J. Crew, Gap, Carter's & Anthropologie too. I could go on. It's easy to spend a whole day here banging out your shopping agenda in one shot if you know what you're doing. Parking isn't fun but it seems to be the norm for most shopping plazas but it doesn't discourage our family from going. They have lots to choose from & it's a bit vast so make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes & since it's outdoors be prepared for the elements. read more

Garden City has come a long way in the past five years, and I can say that it has now surpassed the Providence Place Mall as my go-to shopping center. I only wish it had a few more of my favorite businesses, like Lush Cosmetics, but hey, let's focus on the here-and-now. Garden City is a lovely outdoor shopping center . It now boasts b.good (real food, fast), J.Crew, and (OMG) Sephora! The Container Store, which has basically everything you could need to organize everything in your life, is also a new and appreciated addition. The parking situation is, for the most part, civilized. You will not have to walk very far from your spot, and spots themselves are very easy to come by, which is a good thing when the weather turns foul, as it often does in New England. It seems like a new business is opening up almost every month at Garden City. I am excited to see what will open next at Garden City, so hopefully I will have no reason to have to head to the mall park in the dreadful maze that is the Providence Place parking garage! read more

My favorite place to shop! It's a central location and there is plenty of parking. A little trick is to park behind Applebee's. That lot is good-sized and usually plenty of available spots rather than circling the main lot during busy times. There are so many new stores opening up. I can't contain my excitement (even about this new container store coming! What's a container store anyway? I don't know but I can't wait to check it out and Yelp about it!). I am most excited to add J.Crew to my list of store routine. I usually start at Banana Republic, then stroll on over to Anthro, then work my way over to Carter's and Gap/Baby Gap. And, J.Crew now has a baby line! I'm Not sure if they'll offer it in store, but that's still very exciting. I'm very excited about the new LA Fitness opening up. Looking forward to checking this gym out under a family plan, while maintaining my ties with my local all-women's gym I am so fond of. My only disappointment with GC lately is Cafe Luna closing up shop. One of my favorite restaurants! I'm very sad about this loss and I hope the new restaurant is good. It won't be able to replace not only the good food, service, and Tuesday night specials, but also all the fond memories I have going to eat there and meeting friends. Overall, GC is a favorite of mine! I like to go shop, eat, meet friends, or even just walk around. They also have beautiful and relaxing music playing throughout the entire outdoor area as you stroll along. The Christmas lights during the holidays are magical looking and I can't wait to bring my baby to see Santa there near the gazebo. It's a perfect spot on a sunny afternoon to just get lost in the many great stores and pleasant atmosphere. Don't forget to grab a box of chocolates from Sweenor's and a free sample or two while you're at it ;) With all the initial hype about Pinkberry, with lines out the door during warm days, people may have forgotten about the deliciousness of this chocolate shop just a few doors down. It's a staple of mine, and I highly recommend a stop. My mom once said (in reference to walking into Anthro) that it wasn't just a store, it was "an experience." I'd like to extend that thoughtful and accurate statement to all of GC, and end with: enjoy your day of shopping in the magicalness of it all, and have yourself an experience. read more

When I think of Cranston, I don't think of luxurious shopping in a quaint, beautiful, open marketplace, however; Garden City is just that. Garden City Shopping Center is home to 55 shops which include Yankee Candle, Anthropologie, Williams Sonoma, Talbots, Whole Foods Market, Banana Republic, Cohoes and J. Jill... just to name a few of my favorites. My only complaint is the parking and the one way streets, entrance and exit; it can get a bit congested leaving you sitting in traffic for a while. Just have patience or head out the other exit down past Party City. read more

I feel like they now cater to a different crowd. You won't find much here unless you are looking for upscale stores and brands. They still have some family friendly places like Cohos, Newport Creamery, books retold and the party store. And they keep adding more restaurants/eateries... they currently have 10 and plan on opening 4 more! That's a bit much for such a small shopping center if you ask me... I love the Loft here. I always find tons of items in all sizes. It's not SO picked over like at the bigger, indoor malls. Same goes for the babyGap. I like the Newport Creamery, Papa Razzi's, and Applebees they have here. I used to come here a lot when pregnant to shop at Mimi Maternity for clothes (now Pea in the Pod, I think) OH! and Providence Diamond Co. has an AWESOME selection of my fave jeweler, David Yurman!! They have Tag Heuer, Rolex, Pianegonda and Roberto Coin. Great store! read more

Went here today, in search of boots. From the moment I walked into the store, all of the workers were extremely friendly & helpful. The sales associate in the shoe department, Mariah, was who assisted me. She was helpful, knowledgeable, and patient. I strongly suggest this store, if you are LL Bean fan and live in the New England area. Not to mention, this location is also cozy and laid out very nicely ! read more
