I found it to be a great place for a long meditative walk as there as lots of paths you can take around the lake and through wooded areas. There are lots of benches by the lake for relaxing or more secluded picnic tables throughout the park. It's sprawling enough that you could probably spend an hour just exploring the different pathways. Well worth going out of your way to check it out.

Part One We arrived and parked within the main parking lot…read moredirectly in front of the area by the Pier, just before 9:30 am yesterday. A first-time experience for my lady and I to the Park - the daughter had been there a couple of times before, but a good while ago. Daughter and I had plans to walk the Park's walkaways and trails, and Mom to stay behind, to take in the views near the pier and surrounding areas, waterfowl activities, and generally to enjoy her time outside in the warm sunshine and fresh air of the beautiful morning we had on the go. A visit to the 'Recreational Pier' was first on the walking agenda. The walk out on the structure offered views of the pier itself (lined from one end to the other, with colourful flowered-planters, and benches to sit and take in sights), and views of the water and mudflats below (with lots of waterfowl resting and feeding), several boats, the boat launching area, and full extent views of both sides of Burrard Inlet as seen at this location. A splendid start to our morning walks. Second on the walking agenda was the walkway along the shoreline, to the start of the 'Shoreline Trail'. We did not make any stop in between -- at the 'Playgrounds', or picnic lunching areas -- just caught some rather distant views, we had forested-trails on our minds. The walkway itself though, offered a very plesant, well-treed walk, with several good viewing spots of the Inlet along the route. We walked with no stops other than enough time along the way to view, catch, and capture some of the natural sights. Part Two Walking the 'Shoreline Trail'. We continued our walk, and when we reached the entrance(s) to the 'Shoreline Trail' we headed left into the route closest to the actual shoreline. This took us into a well-groomed dirt, walking only trail. The route to the right was a paved roadway, and much more popular with family groups, and such. The route taken was definitely 'the' right one for us, and we sure enjoyed it. Heavily-forested, mostly flat, with only a couple of 'stair walks' up slopes, some interesting boardwalks over wet areas, and several lookout spots to stand or sit, and view the sights of the inlet along the way. We walked as far as a smaller trail off the main trail that took us inland, up and into the 'Noons Creek Hatchery' site. After an interesting stop and visit there (review forthcomcoming), we returned to the main trail, and walked back to Rock Point. Next on the walking agenda -- Part Three - walking to the end of 'Shoreline Trail' (soon, I hope!).

Burnaby, while not exactly New York City, does have plenty of people situated in a not very large…read morearea - just witness the heavy concentration of skyscrapers, many of which clear 50 stories. Kingsway, the main drag leading into Vancouver proper, witnesses more than its share of traffic, as do the various side streets. So it's a testament to the vision of the founders of the town that this oasis exists. While one can occasionally hear the hum of the Metro or the nearby avenues, by and large it's a place to quickly and efficiently get away from it all. If walking and nature viewing don't fully complete your needs, there are plenty of more physical activities to partake in or watch others partake in - the stadium, the pool, the golf course, the picnic tables - you name it, Central Park has it.

Park is so clean. Toilets are clean…read more Trails are clean. Love all the squirrels, chipmunks, coyotes on the golf course, birds, ducks etc... The Central Park Perimeter Trail is one of the longest continuous rubberized tracks for walking and running at 3.5km. LOVE IT!! There is a 2.5-kilometer outdoor fitness circuit with 12 stations designed for cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility. Tennis courts can use some upgrading or expansion though. Lots of space for picnics and some are under covered spaces. Summer is usually occupied by church groups. There's an area where people have their RC boats in the pond. Not sure if the ducks are annoyed by them or not. This park has almost everything.

This park is far beyond what o expected a park should be. With lots and lots and lots of terrain, obstacles, and slides the kids (and adults) will probably never get bored. Also for the adult there is a Loop running/walking trail with amazing view of the coast and backdrop of the snowcapped mountains. Excellent place for all free family fun. I'm sure parking gets kinda sketchy in the summer due to the limited parking, but winter time is great.

Lots of parking available at the north side of Terra Nova and a nearby path will lead you into the large playground that is surrounded by trees. Soft wood chips are a nice cushion for the kids (or you!) as they frolic around. A towering metal spiral slide is something you cannot miss and the beach logs and ropes make for a real obstacle course. If that isn't enough for you, walk a little further into the park and you'll find a large field with 3 distinct areas: a swing and tire swing set area, a rolling hill metal slide and (my ultimate fave) the zipline area! There are two ziplines that run parallel so you can race down with a friend! Hold on tight, it can get pretty fast... especially if you have a strong friend giving you a push from behind ;D Again, wood chipped area to soften a fall. Once you're all tuckered out, there is a picnic table area next to the zipline area. About 4-5 wooden picnic tables and there are 2 portable restrooms nearby too! If portable restrooms aren't your thing, walk back to the parking lot area and there is a small building with restrooms and a water fountain too! Loving this new Richmond addition - never too old to swing, zip and slide around! You'll see me there, race you down the zipline!!! ;D Note: The Bird Sanctuary is nearby too - a quiet lake with ducks and a wooden dockway to take a stroll around.

We were lucky to snag a parking spot Saturday at 5:30 pm here. I love discovering a peaceful oasis…read morein the middle of a city! Trees and lakes keep the air fresh, the noise pollution down and makes you feel like you escaped the city without leaving town. Plenty of people were enjoying the 69 degree weather. Some lounging in their lawn chairs, walking the dogs on the trail or canoeing on the lake. The boardwalk is especially nice for walking, for the structural metal strips keep it bike-free and peaceful. Meanwhile, there are many scenic trails through the trees that cyclists can enjoy. We completed the one hour/2.6 mile loop trail around the lake passing gorgeous heritage homes, a wedding taking place on the festival lawn and people fishing off the docks. Next time, I'm renting a canoe or kayak from the Deer Lake Boat rentals to see the park from a different perspective. Bonus:Parking and the views are free!

I've been to Deer Lake several times before, but most recently went there for the Vampire Weekend…read moreconcert. On a clear sunny day, this place beats any other concert venue: it's large enough for concert goers of all types to enjoy. You could easily make your way up to get close to the stage, or you could sit down on the lawn and listen to the tunes. Since the lawn tilts at an angle, it's easy to see the stage from almost anywhere, even if you're really far back. There are also a lot of food trucks to get food or drinks from, and there's a water station where you could fill up your water bottle. The only downside of this venue is that it's not very easily accessible by transit and parking is limited on a busy concert evening.

Lovely park in East Vancouver…read more This is my go to relax spot at the park. You have beautiful views of North Vancouver and all the mountains. The bridge on the right is quite beautiful. You can watch ships sail through the sea. Everytime I come here, there's not many people, it's so relaxing. There's a playground for kids. The grass is green and pristine. Free parking is a plus. Very safe, no homeless people. There's a soccer field that's rarely used. There's a small rocky beach. You can swim if you dare. This is almost a hidden gem of Vanouver. The pool is awesome except the staff suck and getting entry is pulling teeth (see my review).

Looks like there is nowhere near enough parking during the summer months. There are also a few spots on the street. The park offers a very nice view of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore. There is also a large dog park, an outdoor pool, and some tennis courts. Looks like a prime place to visit and chill during the warmer months.

went to blossoms after dark at david lam park, and it was packed, but still a really nice evening…read more the cherry blossom trees looked beautiful lit up at night, with rows of soft glowing pink stretching across the park, almost like a canopy of light. the city skyline in the background added a striking contrast, with glass towers reflecting the glow, while the crowd underneath gave everything a lively festival feel. there were tons of people taking photos, lining up at food trucks, and watching live performers. groups were spread out across the grass, while others moved between vendors and interactive art installations, so even with the crowds, the atmosphere felt energetic rather than overwhelming. david lam park sits right along false creek in yaletown and is named after david lam, british columbia's first chinese canadian lieutenant governor. it's known for its wide open waterfront lawns, scenic views of the city skyline, and its seamless connection to the seawall, making it one of the best spots in the area for a walk along the water. the park is especially well suited for all kinds of activity, with a dedicated bike lane and plenty of space for walkers, joggers, and cyclists to move comfortably. beyond that, it also offers a playground, basketball court, and tennis courts, making it just as appealing for casual visits as it is for more active outings. it's also a great place for picnics, especially on a clear day by the water. while the blossoms were undeniably beautiful at night, with the soft illumination giving everything a dreamy, almost cinematic feel, they're just as pretty during the day in a different way. in daylight, the natural colours come through more vividly, the whites and pinks feel brighter and more delicate, and the contrast with the blue sky and water makes the whole scene feel lighter and more open. the nighttime glow adds atmosphere, but the daytime view lets the blossoms stand out for what they are, which is part of why it feels just as special. also, fair warning: mentally ignore the canada geese if you can, they can get a little aggressive at times, they're protected, and you're very much a guest in their space. proceed with caution and maybe watch where you step.

Was trying to kill time after hotel check out but before needing to be at the airport 2 hours…read morebefore departure. On the edge of the park there as a vendor selling fruits and berries which looked tasty. Gravitated towards the "play area" which was very small and seemed to be linked to a school? There was a group of kids wearing pinafores playing on the playground who were quite rude. My child tried to engage them in play and they were mean and would not interact with them. Other parents in the park were taking up one whole park bench for themselves and would not share even though I had a suit case and backpack with me. We did not stay long at this park. I googled and there was another park nearby so we walked to that one. I will say there is more to this park than we initially saw. We walked to George Wainborn park from here and ended up walking along the sea wall to come back near this park (as it had restrooms which were FILTHY, they were hosing off all the goose poop but basically just made it liquid instead of a solid) which was disgusting to walk through let alone have to wheel luggage through and I did see more green areas of this park. I guess it is impressive that there is such a large green space in an urban area? but this is not a place I would return to.
