The trees are almost high enough to cover most of the surrounding condo towers. One can almost forget they're in the middle of a bustling city.

I found it to be a great place for a long meditative walk as there as lots of paths you can take around the lake and through wooded areas. There are lots of benches by the lake for relaxing or more secluded picnic tables throughout the park. It's sprawling enough that you could probably spend an hour just exploring the different pathways. Well worth going out of your way to check it out.

Trees and lakes keep the air fresh, the noise pollution down and makes you feel like you escaped the city without leaving town. Plenty of people were enjoying the 69 degree weather. Some lounging in their lawn chairs, walking the dogs on the trail or canoeing on the lake. The boardwalk is especially nice for walking, for the structural metal strips keep it bike-free and peaceful. Meanwhile, there are many scenic trails through the trees that cyclists can enjoy. We completed the one hour/2.6 mile loop trail around the lake passing gorgeous heritage homes, a wedding taking place on the festival lawn and people fishing off the docks. Next time, I'm renting a canoe or kayak from the Deer Lake Boat rentals to see the park from a different perspective. Bonus:Parking and the views are free!

On a clear sunny day, this place beats any other concert venue: it's large enough for concert goers of all types to enjoy. You could easily make your way up to get close to the stage, or you could sit down on the lawn and listen to the tunes. Since the lawn tilts at an angle, it's easy to see the stage from almost anywhere, even if you're really far back. There are also a lot of food trucks to get food or drinks from, and there's a water station where you could fill up your water bottle. The only downside of this venue is that it's not very easily accessible by transit and parking is limited on a busy concert evening.

Lovely park in East Vancouver…read more This is my go to relax spot at the park. You have beautiful views of North Vancouver and all the mountains. The bridge on the right is quite beautiful. You can watch ships sail through the sea. Everytime I come here, there's not many people, it's so relaxing. There's a playground for kids. The grass is green and pristine. Free parking is a plus. Very safe, no homeless people. There's a soccer field that's rarely used. There's a small rocky beach. You can swim if you dare. This is almost a hidden gem of Vanouver. The pool is awesome except the staff suck and getting entry is pulling teeth (see my review).

Looks like there is nowhere near enough parking during the summer months. There are also a few spots on the street. The park offers a very nice view of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore. There is also a large dog park, an outdoor pool, and some tennis courts. Looks like a prime place to visit and chill during the warmer months.

There are rows of cherry trees which will bloom with cherry blossoms during the season. On weekends, you will see lots of kites flying in the sky. I also come here in the wee hours to catch aurora when the geomagnetic storms are happening. It is a nice walk around the park. Parking is free and the washroom is nearby. There is a cafe on the other side of the parking lot. It is busy on weekends and summer. You will see many people with pop up tent and canopy to shelter from the sun, having a picnic or bbq.

Seeing the neatly maintained Kuno Garden, Fishermen's memorial and boat watching made for a delightful and memorable mid afternoon visit. While I thought the huge power kites were a symbol of childhood enjoyment it was so cool to see two adults flying all nine of them! It was great to see them enjoy the simple pleasures of life flying these in the winds off the Strait of Georgia.

The playground was full of people and there were multiple private events going around at the picnic sites. What I really appreciate about this park is the spaciousness. It is gigantic. There is a lot of green space for children to ride bikes and run around. Another great aspect of this park is that it is near a mini train museum/train station. The train rides were great. We went on a steam powered little train and it took us around the park probably 4 times. I think the train ride lasted for about 8-10 min. It was well worth the $40 for 10 tokens cost. Most of the kids and adults in our group went on the ride. The food at the concession stands was affordable too. It wasn't overpriced at all, to my surprise.

There's a library, running track, sports fields, a kiddie waterpark, community pool, picnic area, lawn bowling, and even 2 dog parks. went to blossoms after dark at david lam park, and it was packed, but still a really nice evening…read more the cherry blossom trees looked beautiful lit up at night, with rows of soft glowing pink stretching across the park, almost like a canopy of light. the city skyline in the background added a striking contrast, with glass towers reflecting the glow, while the crowd underneath gave everything a lively festival feel. there were tons of people taking photos, lining up at food trucks, and watching live performers. groups were spread out across the grass, while others moved between vendors and interactive art installations, so even with the crowds, the atmosphere felt energetic rather than overwhelming. david lam park sits right along false creek in yaletown and is named after david lam, british columbia's first chinese canadian lieutenant governor. it's known for its wide open waterfront lawns, scenic views of the city skyline, and its seamless connection to the seawall, making it one of the best spots in the area for a walk along the water. the park is especially well suited for all kinds of activity, with a dedicated bike lane and plenty of space for walkers, joggers, and cyclists to move comfortably. beyond that, it also offers a playground, basketball court, and tennis courts, making it just as appealing for casual visits as it is for more active outings. it's also a great place for picnics, especially on a clear day by the water. while the blossoms were undeniably beautiful at night, with the soft illumination giving everything a dreamy, almost cinematic feel, they're just as pretty during the day in a different way. in daylight, the natural colours come through more vividly, the whites and pinks feel brighter and more delicate, and the contrast with the blue sky and water makes the whole scene feel lighter and more open. the nighttime glow adds atmosphere, but the daytime view lets the blossoms stand out for what they are, which is part of why it feels just as special. also, fair warning: mentally ignore the canada geese if you can, they can get a little aggressive at times, they're protected, and you're very much a guest in their space. proceed with caution and maybe watch where you step.

On the edge of the park there as a vendor selling fruits and berries which looked tasty. Gravitated towards the "play area" which was very small and seemed to be linked to a school? There was a group of kids wearing pinafores playing on the playground who were quite rude. My child tried to engage them in play and they were mean and would not interact with them. Other parents in the park were taking up one whole park bench for themselves and would not share even though I had a suit case and backpack with me. We did not stay long at this park. I googled and there was another park nearby so we walked to that one. I will say there is more to this park than we initially saw. We walked to George Wainborn park from here and ended up walking along the sea wall to come back near this park (as it had restrooms which were FILTHY, they were hosing off all the goose poop but basically just made it liquid instead of a solid) which was disgusting to walk through let alone have to wheel luggage through and I did see more green areas of this park. I guess it is impressive that there is such a large green space in an urban area? but this is not a place I would return to.

I love Cates Park now that I have been here many times during the non-peak period. The first time I…read morecame here, it was super crowded and there were no parking spots at all. That was at the height of summer on a weekend. Now I only come here on weekdays and weekend outside of summer. It is a fairly big park with a pier at one side, and walking trails and beach on the other. I much prefer the walking trails area with little cove areas where you can put your beach blanket or mat down and chill. Washrooms are available between the two areas. You can swim, kayak and fish/crab from here. Paid parking is near the pier and for those taking their boats out. Otherwise it is free parking in the other areas.
