While at Countryside Gardens, I also had the opportunity to meet Sheila's hubby, Ozzie. These folks not only have a top notch operation, but they are some of the hardest working, friendliest folks you'll ever want to meet! It was such a fun visit! Take your kids - get them involved in planting and don't be shy to ask Sheila or Ozzie anything about planting - they are truly your resident experts. He listened to what we were looking for (10'-ish) and showed us a tree that hadn't even made it to their store lot yet. He trimmed the bottom for us and loaded it into our truck. Talk about full service! We've had Fraser Firs before, but this tree is absolutely gorgeous! We're excited to support local farmers, and we love how convenient this place is to our home. We will be repeat customers for years to come.

Buyers beware, this farm has unethical business practices! We purchased a Christmas tree from them…read morerecently and they charged us an extra $100 for this little bit of extra growth. Their prices are $10 per foot but what they didn't tell us was that anything larger than 10 ft is $20 a foot. That's not $20 once you reach 10 ft but $20 a foot for the entire tree. How does that make sense? When we selected our tree from the orchard, no one was there to help guide us on the size of the tree nor was the tree marked at all. We were told we had to tag it then return to the office and someone would cut it and bring it back. Once they did, they measured it and said it was 10 feet and that we needed to pay $20 per foot. And this is the stick that took it to 10 feet that we cut off to fit our topper. If it was 9 1/2 ft we would've paid $95 but because of this we had to pay 200. When we questioned them, they weren't willing to offer any compensation and just said, well it's a nice tree. Merry Christmas. We could have walked away and not purchased it but we felt bad now that it was cut and thought it was the right thing to do by taking it. I tried to message the company on Facebook and they blocked me. Please don't support a company that puts greed before good customer service.

This shop fulfilled the order and gave me the medium size at best. Getting paid for a product and under delivering is close to theft. They refused to redeliver the order. Fortunately 1-800-flowers customer service is great and made things right. Also their delivery driver is obnoxiously rude, and only because they can't follow google maps directions. Hopefully 1-800-flowers drops this chop shop as a supplier.

I placed a order for my mother in law on 2/4/2021. I received a confirmation email that same day. I requested a delivery for 2/11/2021. When 2/12/2021 hit and my mother in law hadn't gotten the flowers I called Kalkaska Floral & Gifts. I let them know that I had placed an order and they were not yet received, and I was extremely polite. I understand flower shops are crazy busy at this time and I also know that rudeness is not the way to get answers or assistance from people. Unfortunately the woman who claimed to be the owner but would not give me her name when I asked toward the end of the conversation did not have the same manners. When I told her the order number she told me she had a different delivery name for that address, I was very confused. I told her I got a confirmation email and she stated that she does not send confirmation emails. I asked, "Oh why is that?" I would think people would want confirmation, she stated they do not do this. I let her know that I got two confirmation emails from donotreply@efloristmkt.com aka "Kalkaska Floral & Gifts." When I told her the delivery address to try and figure it out she responded, "What makes you think I deliver there" with a lot of attitude. I told her I was not from the area, and that I searched for flower delivery in this zip code and her shop popped up (it was 20 min away). I then told that I used the address request box on her website that confirms the zip code can be delivered to and that it went through. She then claimed that she emailed me saying she could not deliver my order. I said I got no email, and I even said please let me check maybe I missed something! I asked her what email she would have sent it from thinking it may have gone to spam and she refused to tell me the email. Which was odd...at this point I just wanted to let her know so that if something was wrong with the intake system she could fix it so nobody else has this issue. Where I am from people appreciate feedback about their businesses so they can improve, and I only wanted to make sure nobody else would run into this issue. She was extremely rude at this point and said "WHAT do you want me to do about it?" with a really nasty tone, and I said I suppose there is nothing that you can do but this conversation would have been a lot more productive if you didn't come on the phone acting as if I had done something wrong. At this point she started screaming at me...my fiancé could hear her from the room over. I asked if I could have her name but she kept yelling about how I had no idea what I was doing and that this was not her fault and I was ridiculous to think she could deliver flowers there. I told her if she did not lower her voice I was going to have to hang up as I was not interested in being yelled at. She continued to insult me and I eventually hung up, shaking. To be quite honest I am mortified by the way I was spoken to. I was genuinely upset that the flowers hadn't been delivered and that I was not informed that they wouldn't be delivered so I could find another shop. I kept my composure through the entire conversation, I never raised my voice or insulted her despite being talked down to from the beginning. I have never experienced such blatant disrespect. I highly advise that you do not use this floral shop. (I have attached screen shots of my email to show that I received two confirmation emails and no email stating that the delivery could not be made).

We were SHOCKED at how many trees there were. We kept thinking we made it to the end of the trees, just to realize there were acres more! The tree farm also offers free hot coco and cookies, which were a nice touch! We will be back next year!

The family who runs the farm is very friendly and helpful, showing us all of the pre-cut trees in the front lot and also showing us the "u-pick" portion of the farm in the back. There were TONS of trees in the back of the farm--you would never know from the parking lot! What an awesome memory to make with your family. There were free saws that you could borrow to cut down your own tree and they also offered to wrap it and haul it to your car for you! After getting your tree, there is a nice heated barn with complimentary hot cocoa, cookies, and other treats for purchase! Lots of farm animals too for the little ones to pet. We definitely enjoyed our time here and will be back next year!
