Light of Day teas, however, make me a believer in the magic of carefully blended, high quality tea. I used the Creamy Earl Grey tea to bribe myself to do the most mind-numbingly dense readings for my grad school courses, or for simply getting up and dressed for class on a grey winter morning. It's a true treat, and worth the high price. In addition to being absolutely delicious (black or with milk, sweetened or unsweetened), the tea and nearly all of the ingredients were grown at the Light of Day farm, which is certified biodynamic and right here in Michigan! Having originally tasted and fallen in love with Light of Day teas served on campus at the University of Michigan School of Public Health cafe, my friends and I made sure to visit the store during a trip up north. We felt like (grown) kids in a (healthy) candy shop -- there were so many kinds of tea, and they all sounded amazing! I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at Buchan's Blueberry Hill…read more Before picking peaches, a young employee told me that we were allowed to pick them. Based on what she told us, we went ahead and picked some. Later, an older woman confronted me and spoke to me very disrespectfully. When I explained that the young employee had told me we could pick peaches, she essentially accused me of lying and claimed that the employee had said they could pick peaches, not us. This was clearly an employee communication issue, yet instead of calmly clearing up the misunderstanding, I was treated as though I had done something dishonest. What upset me even more was an older male employee intentionally spraying water toward/on my young son. Regardless of whatever misunderstanding happened about the peaches, involving a child like that was completely inappropriate and unacceptable. Overall, we felt unwelcome and disrespected here. As a minority family, the way we were spoken to and treated made the experience especially uncomfortable and left us wondering whether we would have been treated the same way if we were not minorities. We came expecting a fun family outing and left feeling insulted and unwelcome. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Buchan's Blueberry Hill.

Beautiful old lighthouse with a short walk from the parking location to the lighthouse. There is a…read morebeach area with very calm waters that is dog friendly. We had our dog and walked around the grounds and the beach area with no problem. We even encountered other dogs with their owners. Just make sure to clean up after them. There are trash receptacles everywhere. Unfortunately, we were unable to go up to the lighthouse because we had our dog and she was ready to go after about 15 minutes but otherwise, it is a beautiful area. They have a faucet to wash the sand off of you. In general, it's a lovely place to visit.

Beautiful views, you can walk down to the beach and actually walk down into the lake if you want to. You can go up to the top of the lighthouse, there is a small fee of eight dollars for adults. We chose not to do that. Still a cute little house. It also sits on the 45th parallel, which is the halfway point between the North Pole and the equator, there's a sign out front that demonstrates that as well. It is certainly worth a 20 minute drive up the Peninsula, especially if you stop at a winery or two as you are coming or going.
