We hired Garden Mamas to maintain our mature hillside garden. While we thought it a bit strange that we had a different crew out most every time, we were assured by Tamara that she had communicated what needed to be done - she was managing the crew. This method seemed to work mostly, although we had to tell the crew each visit what to do, as mostly instructions had been partially communicated. One day, she sent two new people. We told them to trim two bushes on the stairwell and to pick up the leaves, nothing else. This was also communicated to Tamara a few days prior, but like most times, the crew seemed clueless as to what to do. When they were done and had left, we discovered that they had BUTCHERED our garden - most of five++ years of growth was cut away and in a most unappealing fashion. Her crew ripped out plants that a previous crew had installed only a month prior, had trimmed four bushes that were covering an unsightly wall into lollipop shapes, completely exposing the wall, trimmed new growth off of once per season budding plants without any care for shape or aesthetics, butchered slow growing manzanita plants that may never recover, etc etc etc. We were appalled and contacted her. Tamara responded to our concerns, but would not or could not take personal or financial responsibility for making us whole. She told us that the crew she sent was inexperienced and had never worked on a personal, mature garden (only on storage facilities and office complexes), and that she did not have the $$ to replace the plants destroyed or to pay for someone else to replace the plants (as we told her that we could not work with her anymore). We thought about going to the CSLB so that we could at least recover her bond, but did the time/money calculus and finally settled on her paying for two plants to be replaced, at another landscaper's wholesale cost (approx $500). So far, it has cost us over $10000 to get the garden back to where it was, and it will take a few years for it to look as good as it did prior to November 2025. We tried to support this independent, woman-owned business; but her model of a different crew every time coupled with an inability to run her business in a fiscally responsible manner makes it impossible for us to recommend her to ANYONE read more

I hired Garden Mamas to do our landscaping at the recommendation of one of my friends. Tamara was great to work with - very communicative and worked within our budget. The project was completed within the time she estimated. Invoicing/payment process was clear and easy. I provided photos of the types of plants I liked (from other people's yards) and they provided a list of recommendations with descriptions and pricing as well as placement suggestions. I appreciated Tamara checking in on me a a few times after they planted to see how things were going and reminding me to turn off the water during the rainy season. Sent the Garden Mamas an email inquiring about getting work done on my front and backyard. Taleen responded quickly and was able to schedule Tamara to come out two days later. We did a thorough walk thru and discussed the current and long term plans. Taleen said she would put together a quote for what I want done along with a quote for weekly maintenance. Tamara and her crew are great! We moved into a new house, and noticed last year that the drip watering system was spotty - some places got soaked and others stayed bone dry. Since it was also time to refresh the mulch, Garden Mamas cleaned out the old mulch, fixed all of the drip systems, added a new "main hose" to an area that previously didn't have one, put compost around the plants, trimmed the plants that needed it, then put down fresh mulch. They also did a fair amount of general "tidying up" around the yard. Everything looks great, and I'm looking forward to a better watering experience. What particularly impressed me was the care they took, and the quality, clarity, and timeliness of communication. I had some little baby starter plants in an unusual area, which most folks might mistake for weeds. I pointed them out to Tamara, and she and the team did a great job giving them extra care. Such wonderful work! I had them out to fix the low quality job another landscape company did. Within days of the original job, clover was wildly growing around and through the weed barrier. Tamara came out and immediately understood the problem. They ended up doing a layer of cardboard and a thicker weed barrier cloth. 3 months later, only a handful of weeds have poked through! Brian, who did the hands on work, is fantastic. Very conscientious, answers every question, and goes out of his way to do extra things to make your yard look its best. The measure of a well run company is not that they encounter problems but, how they manage said problems and difficulties when they arise. Today was a day of challenges for Garden Mamas and thusly were able to prove their true worth! This will be two weeks after my initial experience with this fine organization, that is to say, their second visit. Lying in wait for them, 10-12 yards of mulch to be spread throughout. The dynamic duo crew arrived IN THE RAIN and went to work. I was very impress with the service Garden Mama's provided. We had over 70 separate pots of Cymbidiums that need to be repotted. They came out, surveyed what needed to be done to rescue them and gave a fair quote to do the work. They arrived per the scheduled time, with all the necessary materials and completed the job in the time frame they quoted. They worked very efficiently and did an excellent clean up when they were finished. The Cymbidiums are happy now, as we are. An extra bonus is they are a local Woman owned small business.
