I utilized Vo's Gardening twice and will not be inviting them to return for the intended monthly service. Their complete lack of aesthetics might have been workable if they had followed specific directions to leave untouched the neighbors flowers spilling over beautifully onto my property line. Pointing out the mistake after the flowers were hacked off in a straight line elicited an apology and reassurance that it would not happen again. I reminded him not to cut the flowers the day before he came the next month but they did exactly that. They also hacked off the side of a butterfly bush with no apparent thought or skill to attain a natural or graceful shape. Vo's Gardening also ignored my repeated requests regarding a start time. They blew in here (so to speak) early enough to wake us all up, rushed through the work and left plenty of debris behind. Given that their cost was higher than average, I had hoped that the basic, pick-up would be more thorough. read more

After outlining my project on Yelp, Vo Gardening contacted me, I emailed him photos of the project - trimming and shaping rougly 17 overgrown large bushes. We agreed on a date and time for him to come out and see the extent of the project. We worked out and agreed on a price, date and time. We bought a house in serious need of a lawn haircut. I contacted many others but Vo was quickest to respond, quickest to schedule and accepts venmo. As you can imagine buying a house includes 473243741 expenses - even moreso if you buy a moderately unkempt one - so using credit is appreciated. Vo came with one worker, the first time and had the property cleaned up in a matter of hours. We hired Vo a second time shortly after the birth of our son as the property was getting feral again. At this point we accepted lawn defeat and have signed on to monthly services at least until kidlet is less demanding. Vo does a great job of yard cleanup and imo, his prices are reasonable. I hired Vo to clean up my overgrown small front and backyard. For a move out clean up. He and his one worker came on time and knocked it out. I've got no complaints about the work, they did a great job! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 , is due to a small price hiccup at the beginning. When I 1st made contact with Vo, I sent him clear pictures of everything I needed done, including the very 1st picture of a flowering bush that had grown up to the roof line. He gave me 1 estimate at 1st, then a few days later he gave me a final price. But upon arrival he said there would be two separate charges. And that the weeding would be separate from the trimming , doubling the price. He apologized for the misunderstanding and stated he misunderstood although he added he did see the pic. Normally, I would have canceled but sense this was for a move out, I was kinda of stuck. After some haggling he and I were able to come to an agreeable price that was fair for the amount of work. He was and his worker were both worth every penny and if I he serviced the area I moved to I would recommend have hired him for on going maintenance. At no point was he pushy or rude, (and I was stressed already that would've sent me over the edge) the negotiations were very civil and respectful. Summary: 1. Excellent work, even my partner was impressed and He is hardly ever impressed! Vo does an excellent job! 2. Make sure you spell out everything you want and get a firm price up front or better yet, I would recommend he come out and see it prior, so everyone is clear. Vo and his team removed and replaced six plants in my front yard. I told Vo several times to watch for the drip line, which is buried 1-2 inches and runs alongside the existing plants. They did a decent job in the removal and replace, although I would have liked to adjust some of the placements, but that was not a big concern. They also cleaned up everything quite well. Unfortunately, as I found out later when I turned on my irrigation system, they cut through the drip line when removing one of the plants. I'm only aware of one cut right now, since it's spewing water, but I also need to check where they dug out the other plants. I realize that accidents happen, but this seems like a preventable problem. read more

Due to the heavy rains, my front, curb and side yard became a literal jungle. I debated doing the job myself or hiring someone to take on the ardurous task of cleaning up all of the overgrown weeds and grass. I did some research and came across Vo's name. Due to the good reviews, I contacted him via Yelp with photos. He was very responsive and came by the same day for an estimate. The price was very fair for the amount of work that had to be done so I made an appointment for him to come at 8am. I reached out to Vo based on the 5-star reviews. It was also my first time hiring a gardening service so I might be pickier/have higher expectations than most since I'm used to doing the weeding/trimming work myself. For anyone considering them, they are much more mow/blow/go than I realized, and don't do any irrigation (we had a leak in our drip line I was hoping they could fix). Probably best if you need quick weed removal or yard cleanup without too much precision or detail. Pros - Friendly, overall good communicator - They did take my direction and feedback on shaping a few bushes (everything got a flat top cut by default) although I worried I was annoying them at times - Our front yard looks much nicer, though the plants were mostly already in good condition; in reality, I was mostly paying for light weeding and clearing leaves and debris off our patio as well as getting dirt and weeds out of a concrete gutter down the side of our house (they use a blower) - Their cleanup also motivated me to throw out a bunch of things as well, which was the kick in the butt I needed Neutral - Vo has 2 helpers with him who do most of the work while he directs, though he'll be hands-on with little things here and there - They used my green compost bin for all clippings - One guy seemed less experienced than the others (he needed more direction and guidance) but they all worked hard - They forgot to dig out a small stump but I was able to dig it out myself later. (To be fair, when I texted Vo about it, he said he could come back the next day to do it.) - They spent about 1.5 hours from start to finish, but likely would've been done in less than an hour if I wasn't pointing out more specific/detailed things I needed done Cons - I was originally planning to get multiple quotes on both front yard cleanup as well as ongoing maintenance. Vo said that they thought I wanted them to do the work immediately so he had brought his guys with him. I felt bad so I asked for $50 off his quoted price (which he agreed to) and decided to just have them do the work then and there but my husband told me this is a common "sales tactic" people use to get you to move forward with them. - While Vo's original quote wasn't totally unreasonable, after I met a few other gardeners the next day, they would've done the work for $80-100 less than what I paid Vo and were more detail-oriented and knowledgeable about the different plants I had in the garden. (Vo's team was like Supercuts for plants, they all got the same haircut.) No regrets, but just a lesson learned for next time. - When I was discussing the scope of work (including mulching, clearing cobwebs off the home, and removing a small stump from a bush we had cut down), Vo was very agreeable about doing all the work. After his team got started however and I asked if they were able to pick up the mulch from Bee Green if I paid for it in advance, he said they can't do that unfortunately; I would need to get all of the materials onsite myself (the bagged amounts are huge and would be difficult for my husband and I to carry). He forgot about the cobwebs as well (I decided it wasn't worth making them do this since they seemed pretty eager to leave). Again, I should've clarified everything upfront before agreeing to move forward. - They were more rough around the edges overall, I.e. using our compost bin to stand on to cut the tops of bushes, climbing on top of our shared neighbor fence to do the same, using the blower without much warning (I was outside with my 3-month-old and also worried that we blew all of our leaf litter info my neighbor's yard); again, I think I just had mismatched expectations and should have known better about the service I was getting. I debated about how many stars to give because I think Vo is a nice guy and it felt good to get the yard cleaned up. On the other hand, my husband couldn't tell that anything was done and I know I overpaid for the quality of work. Vo and his guys also didn't go "above and beyond" and if anything, I had to remind Vo of the little things we had discussed from the original quote. So for a general cleanup on an overgrown space, they are fine. If you need something more detailed though (or if your garden is already in pretty good shape), I'd recommend another service. read more

I found Mr. Vo on Craigslist and they did such a good job at a good price that I asked him if he was on Yelp so I can write a review for him. I needed a one time job because I had some tenants moving in and I told them I would have the yard cleaned before they moved in. I got a neck injury and I was running late with the yard but I had to keep my word. So, I was looking for someone who could do this job at an affordable price and soon. When he gave me the estimate for what I wanted done I did not hesitate to shake his hand in agreement! My yard went from a jungle mess to presentable!!
