That said, I managed to get a relatively decent tasting cuppa once the tea leaves were scooped out. The pecan Danish? A little dry but OK. Overall, it's a little pricey too. On the plus side, there's lots of comfy seating, free iced water, the sandwiches look nice although I didn't try them, the staff are friendly, and I found a sneaky power point to charge the phone and do me some Yelping! Overall, it's not a bad place to while away a few hours waiting for a delayed flight.

I had spent the night at Caffè Nero in the departure area before security. Luckily that was open 24/7. Surprisingly though, there was no wi-fi. Don't all Caffè Nero have wi-fi now? When I finally made it through security, I had a quick browse through the shops and went to Apostrophe in the departure lounge. I had never been to one but they certainly had the nicest looking sandwiches by far so I gave it a shot. I took a ciabatta with ham, mustard, cheese and dried tomato. I also ordered a hot chocolate. The toasted ciabatta was brought to me quite quick and I was happy to get a delicious breakfast. The hot chocolate was amazing. I don't actually know how to describe it but it was basically pure chocolate. Perfect! What I liked particularly about Apostrophe was the fact that they have jams on the tables, ketchup, mustard, pepper ... and lemon water for everyone to take. It was also fresh and delicious. This little extra allows me give Apostrophe five stars. Hardly any high street brand has such good food, drink and also some free extra treats around.

We ordered the English breakfast of various sizes (they have small, standard and large), and we all found the sausage and beans to be bland. It was nice that the tea/coffee/hot chocolate all included free refills, convenient if you were trying to while away hours during a layover, but for someone wanting a quick meal, the upcharge for that convenience wasn't necessary or wanted. Also, the seats are not particularly comfortable, so I cannot imagine wanting to stay longer than the time required to eat a meal.

I got the Pesto, Mozzarella and Tomato Sandwich with Fries and a side of garlic bread. The sandwich was pretty bland - the pesto didn't have much taste and the cheese was also pretty subpar. The bread was not as crispy as it should be in a panini-style sandwich. All of this made it really tough to finish the sandwich. The fries were also not great. I saw that my friend got very crispy fries so I was excited but mine ended up being pretty soggy and got cold pretty quickly. The best part of the meal was the side of garlic bread - it was crispy and easy to chew but full of flavor. Unfortunately, though, it did not come with any marinara sauce on the side so I had to make do with a spontaneous mix of ketchup and mayonnaise. I guess if you're desparately hungry in an airport come here, but other than that you can find other places.

English breakfast time!!!…read more What we ordered: Full English 10/10 with scrambled eggs bacon, sausage toast My partner ordered this. He loved it. In fact, he keeps talking about the full English breakfast and wants it again lol Full Veggie 10/10 with scrambled eggs veggie meat 2 pieces of toast This was sooo yummy! I ate the veggie meal with eggs, toast, hash browns, backed beans, veggie sausage, and avocado. It was so good! I loved the hash browns and baked beans. Baked beans sound so weird to me to have for breakfast! But it was delightful. Very berry smoothie to go (had to catch our flight, so I took this to go!) My smoothie was delicious! Since it was made with raspberries, it has little seeds in it. Which I didn't care for, but it's unavoidable with the raspberries.

Several options, but I notice Warren's Bakery and with a line too. I'll have a go... I decide to give Warren's a try as I stand in line and peruse the menu. Heck, why not just look in the case instead. Lot's of choices but I choose the meatiest looking bite - The English Breakfast Stack Roll (5.99£). I choose the most chocolatey - The Chocolate Croissant (2.10£). I choose the fruitiest - Mango Passion Smoothie (2.99£). That's my English breakfast to start my day before I slay the day in Roma. The cashier was very polite and cute AF Hermione Granger sorta way. I grab a seat... As I truly enjoy my very hardy breakfast I couldn't help but google "Warren's Bakery" website and it starts of... "Our story began 160 years ago in St Just, Cornwall, with a shared love of baking between a farmer's son and baker's daughter. The Warrens Bakery recipes have been passed down generation after generation, and are still in use today. If you walk into one of our shops 160 years later, you'll still enjoy the fresh smell of Traditional Cornish Pasties baking in the oven. Warren's Bakery, Since 1860." Whoa! Talk about English lineage! All in all, I enjoyed my breakfast at Warren's Bakery. I paid about 11£ (approx $13.70 usd) total for a hardy bite. Not too shabby being at an airport. Alas! ...I didn't get to meet the baker's daughter! However, I did get a smile from cute AF Hermione Granger! Wingardium Leviosa! Ta! Ta!
