They were having a special event--with info about pertinent gardening topics, and I signed up for a great sea glass Art class with the C Sisters. This center has great plant options, a wonderful gift shop, a variety of monthly art classes (including a series for younger children) and even leads field trips. You can walk around the lavender gardens and feel inspired to go home and plant your own lavender field. This would be a perfect spot for a wedding. Of course the people who work here are amazing and wear purple clothes. I cant go here without spending money in the store. I bought two sachets of lavender and the most fragrant lavender bundle. I cant decide if the lavender is going in my pillowcase, my drawers, or tossing in my dryer with my laundry.

Her pre-planted hanging baskets are gorgeous. All of the plants are first-quality, healthy, and very well priced. They also carry some shrubs, roses, etc. but I have to say the the flowering plants is where they shine. :) In addition, they are a dealer for Massarelli fountains and have a selection of garden accents as well. For the home gardener, Hattie sells in the spring time, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, herbs, & flowers plants in small pots that she starts from seed. During the spring, summer & fall months, she sells beautiful vegetable, herbs and flowers at the garden one or two days during the week, and every Saturday morning at the Historic Lewes Farmer's Market All her produce is excellent - though she is renowned for her heirloom tomatoes - I think this year she has about 10 different varieties, and of course, for her arugula. She is also well known for her cut flowers, which she usually puts together in lovely bouquet arrangements for her customers. During the off-season when the HLFM is closed, Hattie operates a weekly delivery / pickup service. In addition to the produce Hattie grows, she offers produce from many local vendors, as well as a good selection of local artisan food such as pastries, soups, breads, jams, honey, cheese, organic chicken & duck eggs, organic meats, and even fresh oysters harvested the day before from Chincoteague Bay. I applaud Hattie for doing everything she can to advance local, small sustainable farms and food artisans, and to promote the consumption of good whole food grown locally, as well as standing behind everything she sells.
