This is a great garden center with plenty of beautiful plant assortments and garden needs. Their items are clean and cared for. Love the plant options and accessories they carry, as I am a plant mom. The staff was very helpful and wrapped each of my plants with care. They also accepted my coupon with no hesitation. I visited the other Garden World location closer to my residense in Queens, and I prefer the Frankin Square location. I was charged full price for a half full propane tank all though New York state law clearly says it's sold by the gallon. Then i was charged 29.99 for it. i had called the day before and none of this was stated. I called my attorney in Manhattan and he gave me the law and told me who to call. Christmas time and I paid twice what the law says they're allowed to charge me. I walked into this store at 3 PM on Valentine's Day expecting to buy a simple bouquet of red roses, only to find out they were completely sold out. This place used to be my go to place. I've always taken advantage of the Goupons also, when available. In short, I've spent thousands of dollars here since I've lived here for the last 12 years, spring, all holidays and propane. However, now they won't let you use the Groupon if an item is on sale. What difference does it make if it's on sale or not? I've paid my money for the Groupon and they are getting the same money. They want you in the store for the Groupon but want to make it hard for you to use it since a lot of things are always on sale. I will never buy from this store again with their random policy. They are overpriced anyway compared to the other places in the area. Good riddance. In response to the comment about how costly Groupon is for the business to use, if it's so terrible, why do you have a permanent Groupon Ad the users can buy over and over again? Hogwash, I say. So the customers who are patronizing the business wind up paying the costs of your advertising by not allowing them to buy items on sale, the exact item they come for. I asked the cashier to charge me full price but that was also a no-no. I am stuck with a useless credit that I'll never use. If you want to be clear on the sale of the Groupon, why not say the Groupon can't be used on sale items. No, the Groupon says it can't be used with special offers. Sneaky wording and disingenuous. Sales aren't special offers. I've been shopping here way before Groupon became a thing but I'm permanently turned off and will skip the convenience of your location and shop and the big stores with discount pricing, no convenience fee added. As she examined the "patient," she explained what likely led to its poor health. She trimmed off dead parts and replaced the growing medium with fresh material. As she worked, she explained how to care for it, so the problem wouldn't reoccur. From our conversation, I learned that Garden World encourages employee development. Tess started as a cashier and subsequently expressed interest in and moved to plant care. She's adding to her experience by studying horticulture at a local university. It seemed like tens of thousands of mother natures babies together with the more mature, spanning a half city block square. Ahh -- to be around so many of nature's gifts to us wether we take them home or not, all with the prettiest natural wrappers of every color conceivable. The innocence of nature's beauty is here and is well protected & defended with knowledge and care by the staff, so listen close. We bought boarders to make half and full circles with. Ingredients: split piece of precut wood, glue, 2 metal spikes. Total? $15.00 each. - ingenious. The first well studied batch of two I grabbed and placed in my table top sized cart looked like Nepta Cats Pajamas, but with a Dutch name and bring in the butterflies like cattle apparently -- Rembrandt something something, dang it. Self watering window box of Impatients - red, white, pink, violet - I love watering and I love the watering boxes. And I love watching & listening to the heavy fat rain we've been having, pound down the backyard tables now occupied by three rosemary, two thyme (German & English), chives, will basil both needing nourishment now green and funky deep purple. Two tall white tressles for the climbing beans, what a pain to get those loaded, bright red metal cone baskets to prop the heirlooms that I bought online. Happy to here this place was finally caught for selling bad plants. They are the worst. I bought $ 500 worth of plants and trees and 3/4 of them died within 2 months. Went back to speak with owner, he said I don't know how to properly care for the plants. I brought samples to a lab and they said all the plants and trees were infected with mold virus. This is my first time visit this store and I am impressed! This place has everything (tools, equipment, gardening supplies, seeds, etc. basically anything you can name it) you need for the garden and plants. I know nothing about taking care of the lawn, but I am trying to renovate my lawn for the very first time as my lawn is filled with weeds now. I was wandering around the weed killers, soils, seeds sections and a gentleman named John came up to ask if I needed help. I explained to him my situation and asked him for advice. He explained the whole process of renovating/restoring the lawn to me and gave me a few suggestions in terms of what products I should try. He answered all my questions patiently and made sure I understand what I needed to do. He was also very honest about what products/tools I should get at this point. He wasn't really pushing me to buy any of the equipment and tools. The store itself is very spacious and each aisle had lots of space to keep social distancing. There are two Garden World locations and I've always had good experiences at the Francis Lewis Blvd location. So, yesterday I had expected to have a similar experience at the Franklin Avenue location. Well, I had the completely opposite experience. I purchased a Groupon but once I arrived I found out it can only be used with non sale items, and of course everything I wanted was on sale, no biggie I'll just use it later. I make my selection and go to the counter to find out that the prices and discount which were posted above the plants weren't the prices. When I questioned the cashier about their signage and showed her both the price and discount was on the same pole she became annoyed stating "the price is a sale and you can't get two discounts". I asked for a manager because the signage should be changed, well the vitriol and dismissive tone that the manager displayed is unacceptable. They have a beautiful selection, very healthy looking plants, but their staffs customer service is horrible and I won't be back. read more

I never had a problem there. Although the prices are rather high on some of their items, they are reasonable on others. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful. I wish they had more varieties of vegetable seeds, but they do have a good selection of young plants, as long as you get there right after they take a delivery. If you need something and they don't have it, they can get it for you. Of course, I never made any purchases of propane from them, because I always have plenty of gas. read more

When I was a child, growing up in New York, my parents would only work with Keil Brothers for all their landscape needs. Naturally, when planning for father's day and thinking of how I can bring joy to my father I thought of contacting Garden World & Keil Brothers. They are still as amazing; I just spoke with Gianni and he is making sure that my father gets the father's day gift that I was hoping to get him delivered to his home. Gianni took the time to find out what I was looking for - something that would attract butterflies so my father can enjoy gardening and my parents can enjoy butterflies . . . Gianni recommended a butterfly bush!! He got my contact information, looked into it, and called me back . . . he was so caring and helpful and I clearly could not do it without him as I live out of state. Thank you Gianni!! I was surprised to see the uncomplimentary reviews posted above, as I am a frequent shopper at Garden World, and have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The kids at the cashier might not be gardening experts, but the staff in the greenhouse have plenty of good advice about what plants would work in different conditions, and how to care for them after getting them home. It doesn't have the vast variety of Hicks, but it certainly has plenty of good, healthy, modestly priced choices for the typical Long Island garden. read more

I have good memories of Garden World from long ago. My Father use to drive us from Cambria Heights to Garden World in Franklin Square when I was about 7 years old back in the 1960's and he use to buy everything from vegetable plants, plant food, bamboo to support the tomato plants, shrubs, sod, etc. I especially remember Garden World because every Christmas my Father would drive us there to purchase our Scotch Pine Christmas Tree and rope and pine scented incense every single Christmas.My Dad would put the rope around the picture window and front door on the outside of the house and then put large Christmas lights on them. Garden World is pretty well stocked, and it's like being in a home-like environment in that I remember the employees being very accommodating and friendly to both my Father and I . My family still lives in Cambria Heights, but my Dad died, so we rarely get a chance to go out to Franklin Square anymore since my Mom purchased an artificial tree from QVC, and that's the way it's been since. I visited Garden World some time last year, and it appeared the same, - - -it was like visiting an old friend. read more
