I received an add from the Market Place for Milena's Garden City selling Christmas Trees for $65.99 and since I am member of the New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce this just made sense to shop local. My wife and I arrived about 1/2 hour before closing. Some trees were priced higher and asked to see ones as advertised. The gentlemen who helped us took us in the back and helped pick out a beautiful tree. We went to pay and told him we members of the chamber and received a slight discount he threw in a bottle of Plantabbs Prolong to nourish the tree. They put the tree in our SUV and home we went. The tree is beautiful for what we paid for it. See pics. I also go here for my Propane and the staff are always polite and efficient. My first time to come-in though I'd been passing this garden center so many times. Glad that they are finally open after a compulsory closing due to Covid. I was welcomed with a smile. Helped efficiently. And a guy carrying my purchase walked back with me to my car. Plenty to choose from flowers to trees. Little I know from outside that it is quite huge store when you get in. I enjoyed my few minutes browsing the gift shop. Wishing I have more time to stay but kinda in a rush. Will cone back. read more

That's why people go to Home Depot and Lowes. I want to support local small businesses but the greed of some stores makes it impossible. I went here to pick up some plants. Once at cashier, the gentleman at the cashier whom I think is the owner overcharged me. I pointed out his error and he corrected it. It happens, right? Not a big deal. Then I looked at my bill and noted a 5% charge for using credit card. No sign anywhere. You cannot have it both ways. You don't want to have to run to the back everyday to deposit your money but you do not want to pay for the convenience of credit cards and pass on the costs to the customers. At the very least I expect to be notified about the charge early so I don't waste my time and go somewhere else. When I protested the credit card charge the man lost his marble. He became rude and loud and almost got physical with me. Terrible experience. They lost my business. read more

Waiting for a compulsivly late associate I took a look around the surrounding area of midtown New Hyde Park Rd, Melinas grabbed my attention and I proceeded to enter the grounds. Winding walkways are said to be therapeutic, add in the landscaping of flowers and shrubs of all shapes and sizes I walked amongst, their beauty and aromas had two senses totally hypnotized, body and mind in total peace. Once inside, I investigated the seeds and walked the clean, well stocked aisles grabbing a few small needs along the way. Gloves, seeds, fencing, planters were of great quality and upon the register it went. The quality of the long gardening tools were superb, real wood contoured to ones grip, hand tools were equally constructed and priced quite well. The Italian being spoken really put the cherry on top to a truely magnificent garden center experience. read more

DON'T EVER THINK TO SHOP HERE. Just had the WORST experience at this nursery. The 80 year old owner is very old & cranky to be doing this job. She asked us not to touch the flowers (because of course you can go shopping for flowers without touching them). I needed to mix and match because I needed different colors. Then i asked for someone to help me if she didn't want me to touch them which she couldn't do either (there were 6 employees there...I mean does anyone know a thing or two about customer service?) She threatened to call the cops because I was "there for too long". I mean its going to take 15-20 minutes if no ones helping? And who keeps a time limit on shopping? Anyways all the owners and employees came out harassing me, verbally abusing, saying racial slurs. It's absolutely disgusting. I would never return even if my life depended on it. P.S. I was born and raised in this country. I know you weren't and I have no problem with that but don't tell me to "go back to my country". You couldn't speak an ounce of English and I didn't mind it at all. We're in the 21st century lady, get with it :) read more

Used to go here all the time and when we moved into the area we had them do all of our sod and landscaping. Over the years, they have gotten pretty bad.... with it still were like it used to be. The older brother wouldn't even give us the time of day when my wife and I went to buy all new plants for the backyard! Left us standing in the rain. Sorry I didn't update this review last year. Great customer service! We got here after closing on Sunday (they'd been closed for more than an hour) but a man told us to come in anyway and was very nice about it. We got mulch, flowers, a tomato plant, and soil for a fair price. We will definitely come back. read more
