I'm surprised we've not been here more before now. Organising a meetup in Droitwich, my husbands home town, I asked we go here instead of our usual haunt, more for convenience that anything else. And it was a good call. We settled ourselves out in the beer garden as it was a really pleasant sunny day, even at 17:00 it was still warm. We started with some pies and cider - they stock Pie Minister pies too, which is always a nice bonus. You can't really go wrong with a Pie Minister pie. A few more ciders in the beer garden and then we moved inside where we completed a very pleasant evening. The decor is typical English pub, with a genuine Tudor flavour. Facilities a little dated, but very clean. Staff were all nice young folk, who were very prompt when it came to bringing your food and serving you at the bar. Recommended.

The place was deserted and, although the boards said that food was being served later, there wasn't anyone around to ask. We met a couple of locals who advised us to go back to the Firs at Dunhampstead (also reviewed) but the distance didn't warrant the walk and the boat was facing the wrong direction. Anyway, we returned just after 6 on the Bank Holiday Monday, the place was just starting to get busy and we ordered food. What a pleasant suprise. I had the Ham off the bone, my partner the Chicken Jalfrezi. The portions were extremely generous, food piping hot and cooked well, good presentation and the accompanying drinks went down satisfactorily. The question I have to ask myself is whether or not it was because we were both so hungry that anything would have tasted good but in fairness, the fact is, I would eat it any day of the week because whilst basic, it is good, honest, wholesome food. Recommended alternative to the Bridge and worth the extra 300 yard walk.
