Not only was it quality work, but they used nothing but quality materials. I told him the budget I had to work with and he kept it within the mark without any disappointments. He had great ideas for a beautiful updated look. He was easy to work with and was very knowledgeable at everything. Besides his prices the best thing was they do it all. From the plumbing, replacing the floor, the tile work, painting, installing the fixtures and electrical. One company did it all and all of the staff was very respectful of me and of my home. My experience with J's CustomWorks…read more I'll start by saying I have pictures to validate my claims. I hired Jay for a total renovation of a gutted house at a cost of $300,000+. My initial complaint with Jay was that I could not get him to show up and work in my home. We went weeks at a time without anyone showing up. I would complain profusely, and he would send out a couple of guys who would work for a day or two. We live in an area outside of Weatherford city limits and Jay told us how great that was because we would not need inspectors which would save us lots of time. I said I expected everything to be up to code. He responded Of course! Well, do not ever accept that! Inspections would have saved me many thousands of dollars after Jay was gone. One of Jay's selling points was that he had contacts which could save us a lot in construction cost. It turned out that his crew and subcontractors were made up largely of friends and relatives (and a few underage workers who acted as gophers and did some cleaning). Regarding cleaning: they did almost none. The interior of the house was littered with all sorts of trash and construction debris throughout the entire project, and my yard had piles of construction trash everywhere. Again, I complained for him to clean it up but this did not happen until the very end. I terminated Jay near the end of the renovation. He still wasn't showing up regularly enough, and his work was getting very sloppy. Rather than going on for pages, here are some big-ticket items I was stuck with. I called Jay about these issues, but he told me any warranty I had was void when I fired him. HVAC: Our unit started freezing up as soon as we turned on the A/C. Jay had some guys he knew do the installation. I brought in the company we originally got a quote from which Jay recommended against to save us money. We asked for a heat pump and were told that was what we got. This was a Lie. Also, they installed the whole thing on the same 60-amp breaker. Dangerous and not up to code. The copper refrigeration pipe was the wrong gauge and had a kink in it besides. Finally, the unit was very loud when it was running. My cost for new equipment, electrician and HVAC labor was $15,000! BTW, we can't hear this one at all. Flooring: Quality luxury vinyl plank flooring was installed improperly and started to squeak and buckle in various places. Again, installed by Jay's crew. New flooring people said they left no room for expansion, so humidity caused buckling. Tearing out the bad flooring, they said sub-flooring they installed was done with nails instead of screws. One section did not have proper support and had already developed a dip. I have documentation for every word of this. My cost for replacement flooring and installation was $20,000! This is just the tip of the iceberg (2 most expensive items) for all the expense and repair I have had to do while living here just 7 months. Clearly, I do not recommend this contractor.

I had hired them a couple of years ago to clean out roots that grow through my clean out line that connects with the city. They were great and I was very happy with their work, Cole and his brother were very professional and friendly. Last week I hired them again to fix a bathroom sink and shower hot water handle, it's a bath I'm going to remodel soon but had company coming in town so just needed it working. They replaced the sink fixtures for me that I bought and asked if they could just replace the valve under the sink since I would be remodeling and I agreed. Kyle said he was able to repair the original hot water handle on the shower. They then took a look at my kitchen sink faucet for me after telling them I didn't have much water pressure when using hot water. They couldn't find anything wrong but when going back and looking at the bathtub they said they could still hear water running. Investigating that they said they found a small hole in my hot water line under the house. They got a part that they said would temporarily fix it, took four of them, one working and the other three supervising. They were going to fix my second bath cold handle faucet but said the part was no longer available for the old brass one I had. So long story, they were here for 4 hours the first day and came back the second for the patch on the line under the house, that took about 45 minutes. They all left and sent one guy in to give me the bill. The original bid was $900.00 but he explained that they needed to add an additional $200.00. The next morning when I woke my entire kitchen floor was soaked from water leaking under the sink, I had never had this problem before. I started thinking about the $1100.00 I paid and all they did was patch the shower, under the sink, replace the sink faucet and patch the line under the house. Oh, and I bought both guys lunch from Sheps the first day here. Now I have another problem that I didn't have before! I called Kyle first and told him about the water in my kitchen and he told me it must be something I did?! Seriously! I called the office and told them how unhappy I was with what I paid for but didn't get but now had a new problem. Cole called me and said that he would be happy to install a new kitchen faucet for me, even though that one was just put in eight months ago. And that he would install new fixtures in my second bath if I bought those. So, another $350.00 spent at Lowes he came out and while he replaced the bathroom fixtures in the second bath he had another worker replace my kitchen faucet. I woke early in the morning this last Sunday to find my newly remodeled second bath completely flooded! It was coming from underneath the vanity where the new fixtures had been installed. I texted Cole and told him what had happened, I don't want any of them back over here. I mean a plumber should know how to install the Delta fixtures they asked that I purchase. Thought he might offer to come fix what he obviously didn't install correctly but all I got was crickets, no response. Looking to hire another plumber to come out a fix it I was looking for the box and instructions that came with the purchase and realized I don't have them. Again, I texted Cole and asked that he drop the instructions off when he had time and just drop it in my mailbox. He responded then telling me he would look but everything was left at my house per my request. Not the box and instructions for that bath! And when they emailed me my invoice, they just give a total. Nothing is described as to the work they did or didn't do, I don't typically write reviews, good or bad but felt this warranted one. DO NOT hire this company unless you get some type of guarantee.
