This is my second time purchasing a living room set from GW. This time the delivery went much better despite the first set not fitting in the door lol. The salesman was great! Very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Delivery was the next day. It fell within the time frame they gave for both deliveries. The only complaint I have is that they didn't connect the sectional pieces so I had to do it when I got home. The driver asked if he should connect them and was answered with yes but oh well. Overall fair prices, good service from the sales team and fast delivery. I've had a negative experience with some damage being done during delivery and it left a very bad taste in my mouth. With the persuasion of my husband I went back to GW and am happier this time. I'm happy to say everything went well from start to finish and I'm beyond happy with our purchase! read more

I purchased a 4 year extended warranty from Garner White. When you file a warranty claim you need to send pictures of the furniture with an explanation of the problem. The first warranty claim I filed was for a broken zipper on a cushion on a recliner. It took 5 telephone calls and over 9 months to replace a broken zipper. The second warranty claim was for a defective recliner motor and charging porton two recliners. It took over 30 days for a technician to inspect the product. I sent detailed pictures of the defective motors. When the service technician arrived he no tools, no meters and only a cell phone which he used to take pictures. When I calledl Gardner White to request assistance on the claim their response was that they are not responsible for warranty claims and use a third party contractor for warranty claims. I told them that they sold the extended warranty to me and I expected their support. I am a reasonable person and I asked how long should a customer who purchased their warranty wait for the repair? NO ANSWER WAS GIVEN. It's no coincidence that so many customer complain about poor warranty service and lack of customer follow thru by Gardner White. GW is not a company that will earn my repeat business. read more

I stopped by this Gardner White to look at mattresses but ultimately decided to buy a mattress from American Mattress. The salespeople here can be aggressive and phony. I didn't get a good vibe from either of the salespeople I spoke to. They need to let shoppers browse without being hounded. I left as soon as I got the salespeople off my back. I also don't think they have the best value in town. Shop around other stores and you will find some salespeople willing to bargain within reason. read more

Bought a $1800 recliner. I stopped working. It stopped working after 5 months. Called them for a service call. I also bought a 3 year extended warranty. They set up a service call for a Friday. I received a call on Thursday (day before appointment) to tell me there would be be a $79 charge. I thought I was getting ripped off. I asked to speak with manager but he was never in office. I called several times over a few days but they wouldn't budge. $79 per paid or no service call. After a few days I decided to call the company that I bought extended warranty from. The were apologetic for the way I was treated at Gardner White. The warranty company sent out a repair man a few weeks later. Turned out to be a $6 part and it took 3 minutes to fix. Purchased a $6000 bed. My dog confiscated the remote ordered a new remote. They charged me over $100. I called them to have somebody sync the remote to the bed modular.. I'm 73 years old. I explained to them I can't get on the ground to do that. They have sent no one to help me very sad. Has anyone had any issues with Gardner White not standing by there products and honoring incorrect information that a salesperson told you regarding a product, just to make a sale? I'm having issues with my leather furniture that they told me would withstand pets, when I specifically told them I didn't want their nails to ruin leather, and I was going with cloth. I only had the furniture for 10 days, when noticed scratches, called on the 11th day in the morning, only to get the run around that someone would be out to fix it, and the on the 12th day when I called corporate, I was told too bad, nothing will be done for animal damage, and exchanges can only happen within 7 days (which I was never told of until I called for an exchange)!!! read more

After going around and around with customer service, they finally agreed to send out new cushions. This is a southern motion couch (awful workmanship) and is motorized. I called and asked if they could replace in the home - nope, they will come pick up. They damaged the couch when picking up and will "fix it". The whole experience has been a complete nightmare and you can't talk to a manager. No refunds, nothing, you have to deal with defective furniture - too bad for the customer! I really wanted new furniture for our back room. Because of the Covid-19 I was unable to shop in- store. Was sceptical about shopping online being that I couldn't see actual color or comfort. But I went for it and happy that I did. After purchase sales rep called me and let me know that what I chose was actually not in stock. He was very patient as we looked at other options or he was willing to try his hardest to get me the one I ordered sooner than later. I stuck with the one I originally ordered. Sales Rep (Sam) called me back very next day with good news. I had my new couch 3 days after originally ordering it. Love the color, style and the comfort. (Lynwood collection). After spending thousands of dollars here...my concerns about the significant wear of my couch were "my opinion" and it's acceptable for an "oversized couch to wear down in less then a year." Its ok for them to tell you to "cover it up with pillows". And its my fault for not expressing that I would like them to provide me with a solution to the CHEAP stuffing used in the back cushions and pillows. When I asked to speak to the supervisor, "there is no one else you can talk to". Everyone has someone they report to and the President of the Company is this persons direct report. Still being denied since he "does not speak to consumers, you can write a letter. " The cold, mono-toned, emotionless robot voice is enraging! There are no apologies for a dissatisfied customer, no second solutions. .. just a finger back at you. If you tell them you will contact the news stations....no worries "all calls will be directed to me". So this is Gardner White. Take the money and they have zero care for you. Best part this person believes I can go anywhere else and will experience the same wear in less then a year. I will NEVER buy another item, will never recommend this company and recommend you save your money and buy elsewhere where a company appreciates their consumer and cares about the quality. After saving for a while, we began the search for a decent queen-sized mattress set. A friend of ours is a manager at GW, so we decided to check them out first. Unfortunately their discount policy is very strict, and besides their occasional "friends and family" discount coupons, there's no other options; our friend couldn't help us. The full prices we found were less than stellar. We were going to have to spend $600 on a mattress set!? I definitely wanted to shop around. Before we left Gardner White, we checked the damage center - the place where slightly funky furniture and mattresses go for cheaper prices. We weren't able to find anything of use here - apparently mattresses go fairly quickly in this area. It may be worth it to check here first if you find yourself at GW. We later went to Art Van, and got a comparable mattress for about half the price. Granted, GW has amazing furniture and mattresses, but it's too rich for my blood. If style is more of an issue than price, then this may be the place for you. However, if you're on a budget like me, then you probably shouldn't set your heart on Gardner White. read more

I understand that businesses are doing the best that they can due to the circumstances of COVID. But, what is not acceptable is salesman not being honest only to get a sale. I went into the store and purchased "4" dining room chairs. I was told they would be delivered the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which was perfect because that's why I needed them. They delivery truck came late Wednesday afternoon with only "1" chair out of the 4 I paid for. He initially stated there were 2 in the box but I made him open it to confirm. Needless to say, there was only 1 chair. I was extremely upset and called the customer service line. She apologized and said the salesman should have never told me I would be getting 4 chairs on that day because there were no chairs in either location until the following week. I wanted to go get my money back but I decided not to and just wait on the delivery. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been to several Gardner whites (because of their horrible company management, not any one stores fault) and they were all at least reasonably polite. The customer service I received here is AWFUL. the two older blonde ladies that I spoke to were horribly rude, refused to wear a mask properly, and snapped at me for asking a basic questions about my order. I called ahead of time and asked if I could come in and do what I need and was reassured that I could, only to be rudely dismissed by the customer service workers here. Where do I even begin? I went in mid-July to order a bedroom set and couches that I needed for a late-August delivery. The salesperson Joyce was clueless and it took a full afternoon to ring up our order. She was not familiar with any of their products. We paid on the spot and she said that everything was in stock, and to call a week or so before our move in date. I called two weeks prior to my moving date to schedule a delivery, and a week after that to confirm. When I spoke to customer service (Pam and Christine) 5 days prior to the delivery, I was told that they wouldn't know if the items were in stock until Wednesday -- for a Saturday delivery! So I called back on Wednesday and low and behold my items are all backordered and won't be in stock until mid-September. Not sure if or when Gardner White planned on telling me this! Was I supposed to find out on the day of my move that all the furniture I bought was nonexistent? What terrible customer service. I will never buy anything from Gardner White and I am expecting a full refund. I should be compensated for the nightmare I'm currently living -- buying last minute furniture from a competitor and hoping for a Saturday delivery. I'm going to end up sleeping on the floor for a few days then missing work to accept the rest of the order. Avoid at all costs, unless you're buying floor models and hauling them home yourself. PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASE I moved in the area last January. I ordered a 2 bedroom sets 2 couches and some other stuff. I had to special order a couch. I was promised a delivery date of the beginning of February. As I did not have a couch I was told to call the next business day which would be a Monday I was told then my couch would not be ready till March. I called and cancelled. I then went in to the store and to look for another couch and CANCELLED the couch again. My furniture was delivered the following Saturday as planned. Went well was happy. I went in and paid my FULL BALANCE and tried to look for another couch as I needed one. AGAIN I HAD NO BLNCE PAID IN FULL!!! I could not find anything at that time. I then get a call from the Warren store with a delivery date for the couch I cancelled twice now. Again very frustrating! I told them I cancelled the following Monday when the could not delivery on time. So it was cancelled again. I was told then that a 30% stocking fee I would have to pay. I told them I cancelled my order before the paper work was even done. Now this is still going on and spending numerous calls going back and forth with NO CALL BACKS or anything resolving this matter. I decided to call Corporate NOW THAT IS BIGGER JOKE ..... you actually have to leave a message. And leaving a message NO CALL BACK!!! I'm only giving one star because there is no way to review less than that . My wife and I have been to this store twice now and both times have been less than satisfied . The first trip was to buy a mattress which we did but come delivery day they brought us the wrong mattress . Instead of resolving our complaint right away we had to go through the run around on the phone and schedule a second delivery with the correct mattress . Almost a week later and after missing the original day of work and the 2nd day for the 2nd delivery we finally received our correct couch . We decided to give them another chance and ordered a sectional couch . 24hrs after delivery we noticed the couch literally beginning to split at the seams and the stitching backing out . Instead of a prompt and expedient resolution I got the run around about needing to take pictures and they will maybe send a tech or maybe replace the couch . Now waiting on a response and am going to have to miss yet another day or two of work when the time comes for them to fix the quality issue on my "new" couch . I never write reviews but do feel that this location will not do right by anyone and there is no professional manager there to deal with . Don't bother asking for his boss because they will tell you they don't have one . In the last 5 years I have purchased 4 couches, 2 chairs, a kitchen table and hutch from Gardner-White. Had pretty good experience each time.. until now!! This is the first time I have had to return something and what a joke! I purchased a bedroom set that had to be special ordered. Their delivery time frame was with in 2 weeks of what they told me, so not a biggie. When they called to deliver I explained I was leaving for vacation in 2 days. No problem they said, "we would rather get it delivered then take the chance it is damaged in the Whse". They delivered the set and off they went. When I returned from vacation I played with the set and just couldn't make the nightstand fit. When I called to return it I was told (very rudely) it was past the 7 day (by 3 days) return policy. I have NEVER been told that by either of my two sales persons. I e-mailed my salesman and he got approval from his Mngr. for me to return it but I still have to pay the 25% restock fee. I called to schedule the pick up three times now. Each time I am RUDELY told that I am past the 7 day period. I explain (all 3 times) that the salesman got approval. After sitting on hold for 18min., 22min. and again today for 14 min. I was told the salesman will get back to me. When I asked to speak to the Mngr. I was put on hold for 38 min. I am going to keep this nightstand and make it my personal mission to tell everyone what a awful experience this has been. AGAIN..... My boyfriend and I are moving into a new place on Detroit's east side and felt it would be best to check out this Gardner White location because it was in close proximity to our new home. We went in on a Monday and I brought my mother along because we can always count on her to make sure that we are getting the best bang for our buck. We arrived at the location around 8:15 pm and I was a bit discouraged because I thought that we would be rushed out of the door for arriving so late. We were approached by Jason Groce who then asked us great questions to better assess how to assist us. After discussing the finance options we decided to fill out the necessary application for financing and he told us to have a look around while he submitted our information to James Lyons. We agreed on a Maletto Bedroom set and the Charlotte living room set. We were overly satisfied with the customer service and did not leave the location until 9:40 pm and were not rushed to find what we liked at all. Both of the Jason and James were accommodating in helping us choose the best financial plans to fit our income while also showing concern that we would still love the furniture once it arrived to our home. We instructed them we would return that upcoming Friday to place our order. Upon our arrival Friday we decided to go with the Charlotte Living Room Set with the coffee and two end tables that were on display with it. James Lyons was more than accommodating in processing our request, helping me sign the paperwork and getting our delivery and Ultra Shield protection set up as well. We received our furniture without a hitch and the tracking number that is given to follow your furniture on the day of delivery is exceptionally accurate as well. I will definitely be returning to this location to patronize these two fine gentlemen as well as recommend them to other young couples that are looking to add a touch of class to their starter homes. read more

This is a work place WARNING!. I've had afew friends asking me about new jobs with summer around the corner. Coming in they are going to tell you its a great place to work. DON'T BELIEVE IT! Stock tops out at 11.00 if your lucky. (Responsibilities are including but not limited to loading and unloading Furniture trucks, customer cars, making sure everything on the floor is tagged moving around furniture on the floor as much as requested by managers. All furniture maintenance and conditioning.) I'm constantly being told that you can be replaced. While doing literally back-breaking work for $10 an hour. Customer service tops out at $12-$13hr. (Responsibilities include but are not limited to, paperwork filing, shipping concerns and customer troubleshooting and problem-solving.) Sales Representative, on top of the fact that you are scheduled for 50 Plus hours a week with no overtime. It is strictly commission-based in which everyone knew going in. What a lot of them was not told of was that it is mandatory weekends, there's no part time shift and if there is 20 salesman on the floor and you haven't gotten a front and 4 hours you have to stay not making any money at all. Vacations have been in the most recent thing to be messed with as of 2019 you are not allowed split up vacation days you have to take week-long vacations rather you need that long or not. Unless you were one of the top salesman with the Privileges that come with it New or old All in all DO NOT work for Gardner-White. If you are in need of work. If you want a foot in the door of sales at the sacrifice of your social life and consistent pay. You are okay with doing back-breaking work for just over minimum wage. You are okay with handling a lot of paperwork customer complaints caused by other people. And this is not complaints from someone who used to work here before I currently work in the Metro Detroit area with Gardner-White. And have been told there's no point and telling anyone like Fox 2 on, Channel 4 because Gardner-White contribute so much money to them. If you're looking for work go anywhere els. read more

I had the worst experience with Gardner White, when I came into the store Sunday November 17th, 2019 I was told that my furniture could be delivered same day, then I was told they closed early which was at 1:00pm, my sales rep then told me that they can deliver the furniture the next day which was Monday November 18th, 2019 and then asked me the time. I told him I don't get off of work until 5:30pm so 6, or 7 would work, he told me that it probably won't be delivered until later that day so expect 9 or 10 but the driver will call you and let you know the time frame that they will come. I received a call from the driver stating that he was 10 minutes from my house at 5:00pm. He told me I would have to reschedule but contact my sales rep. I was told by a customer service representative that my sales rep wasn't in and I was giving the run around over the phone. I called multiple times didn't get a response, an, answer, nor a solution until I spoke with Christine the manager. She told me the drivers couldn't come at a later time and that I would have to reschedule my delivery once again. I asked for a refund she told me that she would refund me the money and I would receive and email confirming the cancellation. Christine called me back to confirm she sent the email; however I have yet to receive an email. My overall experience was terrible. Yesterday November 17th was my first time doing business with Gardner White and with the service I received today I would not recommend anyone to you all and I will continue to give you all bad reviews for such poor customer service. Worst customer service every. I went and financed furniture on February 8, 2015. It March 27th and I still have not received my table nor have then been ordered. I was given the wrong payment amount from a financial employee named Sterling. When I went and spoke with the people and Sterling he would not even acknowledge me. Not so much as even said I am sorry I made an error. Nothing. One of the salesman came to me and said he would "try" and get Sterling to talk to me. What is that for customer service When the girls at the counter they call the store manager up the counter and his words to me even after seeing the error Sterling made was "well we already got our money thats in between u and the finance company ". I was floored. I was promised that day (a month and a half) after financing the furniture that my tables would be delivered for sure this week. Well its Thursday and guess what my tables weren't even ordered. I was told I can either wait another month for them to come in or I can come in and pick another set for equal or lesser value. Not too mention in the beginning of March when I recalled for the 3rd time to find out where my tables were they schedule me and appointment for delivery. I have my niece come and sit here all day. Never a phone call and of course no tables were delivered after someone sitting here all day waiting. After months of hunting for the perfect couch I finally found what I was looking for at Gardner White. Given the busy holiday season I decided to make my purchase online instead of venturing back out to the store. I was pleasantly pleased when I saw that if I placed my order online in a certain time period that I'd get my new couch, love seat and ottoman the same day. Too bad that was total false advertising and I received a call a few minutes later letting me know I wouldn't receive my items for over a week and that the ottoman was out of stock and they had zero idea when I'd receive it. It's now 3 weeks later and I still don't have my overpriced ottoman and I'm horribly disappointed in the quality of the couch. The cushions literally just have stuffing stuffed in them with no cover or padding so you can never wash the removable fabric and the arms feel like they would collapse if my dog or a child were to climb on them. Despite a few calls to determine when exactly I can expect the ottoman I've yet to get a real answer only broad time frames and not a single person I've spoken to seems considered that they can't give me a real answer. I'm so disappointed. Furniture is a huge expensive purchase and to get poor quality for a large sum of money with little regard for customers feelings and no sense of urgency is so discouraging. Absolutely by far the worst customer service experience EVER!! Walk in sales man is great compassionate and understanding. Send us over to RAC for financing, the young lady although polite needed assisting but the older lady was too busy chatting it up with her friend it was like she was inconveniencing her by needing help!! Sat in the chair for 3 hours waiting to sign paper work and give them money. We were then told our furniture would not be delivered till the following week. I called Gardner White to ask what was going on, and the young lady who answered the phone (call her Miss J) was extremely rude. She asked my name and telephone number I gave them both to her, I then asked if a manager was on duty I would prefer to speak with them. She advised me that he was with a customer, I asked for a return call. She said in order for her to take a message she needed to know what it was about I simply replied "My furniture". She said yeah well what about your furniture? I said I would rather discuss with management to have them give me a call. She was angry that I would not elaborate so she hung up on me. I waited a while never received a call back so I called again this time I asked to be placed on hold while the manager on duty wrapped up his other customer. I advised manager on duty how frustrated I was to be paying for furniture at double the cost when I reach the end of my contract but the customer service I was receiving was definitely not worth the $4K I would end up paying. Before I could even finish my sentence the manager on duty rudely interrupted me and told me that I technically didn't purchase the furniture from Gardner White because it was financed that it was RAC and it was an RAC error. When I talked to the finance lady she said she had to check with Gardner White to get delivery information, this company cant get their act together. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO FINANCED THE FLIPPING FURNITURE THE FACT IS I WALKED INTO A GARDNER WHITE" !!FROM THE BEGINNING OF MY CALLS TO THE END WITH THE MANAGER I RECEIVED RUDE RUDE RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Not once did the manager even apologize for my trouble regardless of fault that is what spews excellent customer service is taking one for the team not placing blame on some one else. .....GET IT TOGETHER.... I will not be pointing out any names on here but if someone from Gardner White would like to know who these individuals are please feel free to phone me. This will be my very first and very last purchase from Gardner White. Guaranteed that I know I don't matter to such a large company and nothing will happen, nor do I care but it makes me feel better knowing I sent in my review. read more

Inferior Quality Furniture and worse yet customer service practices! Ordered a leather sofa from Gardner White. Delivered and noticed one end of the reclining sofa is set farther back and up higher than the rest of the sofa. Explanation give - "normal for dual reclining sofas" Unacceptable to me. Anyone that walks into my family room can visually see the difference. The Service Manager Jeff Ballard refuses to come check it out for himself. I also invited the store Manager from the Novi Store to take a look. While she, Shannon attempted to help me by going to bat with Jeff and talking him into offering a "re-selection", I did not find a replacement piece I liked. The only other option given me was to return with a 25% restocking fee. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! It is my mission to make sure everyone I know stays away from this place!!!
