The website has been down today and wasn't displaying information correctly when I was able to get in. So I just decided to drop in and see if I could make an appointment to go through things with them. I needed to change my direct deposit. I needed to update my phone number & I needed to verify that a past employer had failed to report a significant amount of earnings which is impacting my monthly payment. Building is tucked away behind Dollar tree and Morgan's Stanley on Central directly across from the Country Inn. There's plenty of parking and when I entered at a quarter after 12 I really didn't think anybody would even be there, in fact, I was surprised the door was unlocked. The guard is about as friendly as a rattlesnake tho, so beware. Before I could even ask him anything he barked "USE THE KIOSK!" and pointed in the general direction of a small kiosk in front of a bay of service windows. I just wanted to make an appointment so I tried the kiosk and it gave me an appointment - immediately. As in: you're up next after next person. I had only been waiting for about six minutes when they called my number and I met Jennifer at E8. This woman acted surprised when I told her how shocked I was I was actually getting Service today. So pleasant, professional and soft spoken, she was able to change my direct deposit and update my information and give me an appointment for a call to verify benefits next week via telephone. Don't even have to drive back into town. Unfortunately, her supervisor wasn't there so they didn't get to tell them what a wonderful asset Jennifer is. She was exceptionally proficient at accessing records, and because I did not expect to be speaking with anybody today, I was pretty UNprepared. She waited patiently while I got through the mess of paperwork I had, and was finally able to provide her with the correct information. All in all, it was the most wonderful visit to the government office I've ever had. Thank you, Jennifer, I hope you have the day you deserve, which is a wonderful one!

We winded up a single lane road passing Picnic areas and rest stops before we got to the top. There was a small parking lot with magnificent views. We walked to the gift shop & found the register. We have a parks pass & paid $12 pp to take the elevator to the top of the tower. We took in the view on the top and then went down a floor to see the history of Hot Springs starting in 1875. Photos and artifacts from the old hotels and bath houses were presented with a timeline.

It was too damn hot for 3 out of 4 of us to hike up the mountain, so I drove up. Parking was free, but a bit crowded on July 20, 2025. If you don't find a spot, there is a loop to drive back around. Historical info of the tower is out front. TIP Shout out to Greg J. who on 7.9.2024 pointed out that going back down the mountain on the one-way road, folks will pass the Happy Hollow cold spring fountain. It's a free refill of any jug or bottle!

It was lying on the counter, and I replied, "It's right there", pointing to it. She came back with something smart like "that's what I needed when you wouldn't tell me why you are here". To which I replied, "And yet you never asked for the renewal form". Two thoughts. First, if a customer doesn't give you the information you need then ask another question or clarify their response to get the information you need to do your job. That's what you are getting paid to do. Her lack of effort was less than impressive. Second, my wife didn't have her renewal form, and it wasn't an issue. So I guess she really didn't need the renewal form after all. This person clearly is not suited for customer service, and should not be in that position. If I could give zero stars i would.
