We had Garlock-French do our roof after a hail storm in 2017 damaged our roof and some windows. They did a superb job. Their crew worked quickly and safely and the roof looked beautiful. Then came 2022 and a much worse hail storm in May. We suffered damage to our newer (2017) roof, gutter covers, windows and siding. It was a big job. The adjustor said it was some of the worst he'd seen in his ten years of experience. From the golf ball sized hail we collected, I could believe it. From beginning to end Garlock French did a superb job for us. Their representative worked with our insurance company and the process was as smooth as could be. We had no hassles with our insurance thanks to their commitment to their customers and the skilled work done by the Garlock-French representatiave who worked with them on our behalf. He knows his stuff!! Throught out the projects (roof, siding, windows and gutters) They communicated with us very effectively. We ran into some supply chain delays we hadn't experienced in '17 but they worked through it and all was finally repaired.... again. A first class job! All their workers were very respectful, hard working and safe. We were very impressed. They have outlived their reputation. LOUSY company. Big on professional sales front but poor to no on sight management once our roofing job began. The actual workers appeared to feel no connection to company or mgmt. We had to ask mgmt to get a portable potty for the roofers who were on site as much as 12 hrs a day, they expected them to head over to a local gas station. read more

I decided to contract with Garlock-French to replace the shingles on my brand new home in Lake Elmo that sustained light hail damage within a month after moving in. Due to their extreme negligence, inexperience, and lack of care, my home sustained water damage in all four walls and ceiling on the first and second floor while while it rained all day and they had the entire top roof off. They did not follow industry standards which is to work in sections and tarp off open areas as quickly as possible if it rains. I had water streaming through light fixtures and down walls, to which the foreman told me I just needed to let it dry out and they would come back later to touch up the paint. Needless to say, I called a water mitigation company to come out and respond to the situation correctly. Now I have holes in my walls, trim removed, wet clothes in my closet, wet carpet, and industrial dehumidifiers and fans running everywhere. It'll get better but it's going to take a lot of work, time, and aggravation. Think twice before you hire Garlock-French!!! read more

Stay away from these guys ... They're only interest is in collecting as much money from you as they can, not taking care of the customer. They rarely return your emails or phone calls, unless you hound them. They'll trash your yard, crush your landscaping, damage your gutters and driveway. When you provide the before / after photographic evidence and ask what they're going to do about it, they'll tell you they'll take care of it, then they'll blow you off on the follow through, then they'll accuse you of being an extortionist. Moved into a new house and used them to clean the gutters because the previous owners had used them for years. They charged us an INSANE amount. We wouldn't have used them again anyways because of the cost, but since then we have had a contractor out who said our downspouts are completely stuffed and now someone out doing our ice dams who said the gutters on the top are also totally full of debris. I'm going to be as succinct as possible in this review. The upshot is I'm recommending you hire another roofer. 1. Sales experience was good. No high pressure sales, explanation of products available and a knowledgeable sales rep who inspired confidence in us that this was the company to fix our leaking roof. 2. Once paperwork was signed they came and tarped over our leak and the water into our attic and mudroom immediately stopped. Relief! 3. Started work removing old roof approximately 6-8 weeks after signed contract which was the time frame we were given. 4. Workers descended on property and we were told it was a 3 day job. They were here for 3 weeks. This was a factor of weather, some rotten decking that was found but also the fact that whole non-rainy days would go by and no one would show up. We were told they were working on multiple jobs at the same time and a "full" crew would not be available to us. 5. The problem with watching whole days go by without work being done is that our roof is ripped up. So you worry that if it rains you might spring leaks all over the place which leads me to... 6. Our house sprung leaks all over the place. After roof work began water started leaking into our attic and mudroom again. They must have displaced the tarps that were protecting us. They came back and made adjustments but water continued to leak into the mudroom until the work was complete. After they ripped the roof off on the other side of the house they called it quits for the day. I asked the project manager if this was a good idea leaving our roof exposed with only paper on it. He said the paper was rated to take water - no worries. Rained that night had water in our bedroom AND our garage. Two spots that had not leaked before. Calls and emails. They are back the next day with apologies more tarps and completed the roofing over our bedroom. 7. Damage to the ceiling of our house. After they completed the section of roof over our bedroom I noticed nail pops in our ceiling and two cracks in the drywall. Project manager came in and inspected agreed to pay for dry wall damage. Nobody could be sure who damaged our ceiling was it the insulation guys (subs) or the roofers (subs) so they split the cost of the repair. 8. At the end of 3 weeks they just disappeared. I was waiting for the final walk through where someone walks us around and explains to us in detail what was done with our tens of thousands of dollars. We had a few questions we were saving up for that walk through and one spot where the trim didn't seem to be put on properly that we wanted to have fixed. But nothing. 9. After 3 weeks I called the office. I inquired whether I would be sent a final invoice or what was going on. Was told job was still "open". I waited another 2 weeks and called again. Was told invoice was being worked on. Called another week later was told invoice in the mail. 10. After not seeing a worker or project manager for 6 weeks an invoice arrives in the mail for $9,000 more than the estimate. So I call again seeking out the reason for the high invoice and also wanting to know how a company can authorize so much work without seeking our approval. Ooops they say we were over charged. New invoice on its way. Didn't matter because husband and I already decided we shouldn't pay until that trim was fixed and somebody took the time to walk us through our new roof. 11. On November 29th, my husband swung by the house in between running a few errands and there was a worker there fixing the trim. He took the opportunity to ask all of our questions about our new roof and he felt satisfied with the answers. If he had not popped home unexpectedly I still don't know if our questions would have been answered. Once the contract was signed it was like nothing could be right. Such poor communication on their part and so much needless damage to our house when all we wanted was a new roof. read more

A couple of wks ago I called to see if I could get help with a leaky roof at a rental property I own. I was told that Garlock-French was the best option in the city for roofing. I have made repeated attempts to connect the local rep. After about the third missed call, I asked him to text or email me back, since I am not always able to step away from work to catch his call. No text, no email, not even a return phone call. I've called him several more times this week and asked him to return my call, text or email. Still nothing. After two weeks, I still have a leaky roof and some really pissed tenants. I'm officially giving up on Garlock French. They might be great but I will never know because THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO CONNECT WITH POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. read more

There was some hail damage in my neighborhood this past summer. Garlock-French came out to take a look and found some damaged shingles. They contacted my insurance folks and met with an adjuster to point out the damage. We were approved for a new roof on the spot. After getting the paper work dealt with they gave me a time and had the roof done with just a one day delay due to weather. They were extremely easy to work with and very knowledgable.
