Wells park has a large parking lot It has a large lawn with several picnic areas. From what I see they try to keep restrooms clean and free from graffitti. An endless battle. My suggestion would be to place whiteboards and dry erase markers in the restrooms. I've seen this done on Resturants in Houston. On several occasions I'd be relaxing on the lawn and have been approached by well meaning street evangelists. Some wanting to introduce me to Jesus and some offering food and water. Also been approached by the homeless asking for a light, cigatetts money or wanting to sell me drugs. Within the park is Dog Park. A fenced in area where folks can unleash thier dogs. There's a play structure for kids but I never see it in use.

It was literally empty at 1:30 on a hot Saturday afternoon. It was hot out, but under the shade of the huge trees it was very comfortable, extremely peacefull.

It's a 29 acre natural preserve park with out equipment nor restrooms; but it does offer a small creek that meanders through the park. Also, the park has a mature eucalyptus grove, a trail that finds its way around the perimeter of the park, and wild grassy open areas. It's not a maintained open area. You can bring your dogs for a walk. The trail is not very long and it's pretty easy, accept when you have to cross near the creek. It's nice to see these open spaces between communities.

I was pleasantly surprised to see such a welcome update to the south-facing green area of the park. The city of course had to uproot about a dozen big trees for this project but better that, than remain a homeless haven. Next to the courts, the city also built a pro-shop where paid members can hangout, buy refreshments and use the clean restrooms. Members also have the benefit of reserving a court. The wall separating the courts from the apartment complex is made with sound-absorbing material, the benches are shaded and there are properly designated paddle racks for each of the five courts. I was the second pickleball player to arrive for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the newly built pickleball courts. It was cool to see the usual suspects - friends I play with at Bostonia Rec Center and Lakeside courts, as well as new faces. This being the second El Cajon public pickleball court, me and my friends already started planning the days we will play here. This will most likely become another popular venue and one that will be maintained since local city leaders and council members are avid pickleball players themselves.

this is a nice size park in el cajon, slightly up on a hill, but gradually descends as you work…read moreyour way further into the park. i discovered this park while on my morning run and figured i'd run along some of the paved paths here since there are no stop signs and no traffic lights, unlike the surface streets that i ran to get here. there is a standard-sized baseball diamond here and plenty of green grassy area for your kids and dogs to play around in. i can see this as a great place for hosting a picnic as well, just bring a blanket and some munchies and chill out. one entrance on greenfield drive, another entrance on coker way, although the latter is slightly hidden so you have to look for it.
