This practice was responsible for the most blatant negligence and disregard for a patient wellbeing when taking care of my neice. She had a potentially life threatening situation only made worse by the staff dropping the ball constantly. No follow up, no check ins, wrong notes made in her chart. Every step of the way they failed her. I have never heard of such incompetence in a medical professional office. I wouldn't send anyone there. read more

I've been going to GWH for 30+ years and Dr. Gillespie delivered two of my babies and my third by Dr. Bertram.. i'm giving four stars because my third child should have been induced way earlier. So he weighed 10 seven and I didn't gain hardly anything. They told me two days before he was going to weigh 8 pounds. I'm also giving it four stars because recently I had made an appointment for my women Lee stuff and the woman that answered the phone there was extremely nice, helpful, funny and I wish I knew her name so I could mention it here. I just had my appointment yesterday and once again Sue did a great job on the boobs squash part. Both Receptionist were very busy but very polite. read more

Just started going here, have been struggling with correct form of birth control and Dr.Fodero recommended one that seems to be working great! She is also so kind and really helped me feel good about it! So happy they joined wentworth Douglass as well!! They're the best, went to Pelvic PT through them this past year and it helped me loads! I have been going to GWHC for a little over 2 years. We had issues with infertility so we decided to check them out after leaving a doctors office that did not have infertility specialists. We got pregnant the first time (and didn't need infertility treatment that time around) and delivered at Wentworth and we had a great experience! I was nervous because I had certain ways I wanted to labor and pregnancy to go and they listened and were very understanding of how I felt and how I wanted it to be as natural as possible. I also had mastitis two times after having my first and they were great about seeing me and giving me the antibiotics I needed to fight the infection. I am pregnant again and am so glad I will be able to deliver with them again! read more

Years ago Garrison Women's was the place to go. They delivered both my kids. Fast forward and have to say they are not the place to go. They do not care about their patients, staff at desk and in billing is rude. I wouldn't honestly send my enemy there. Do your homework ladies...there's better care out there. read more

On 9/13/16 Garrison Women's Health had a Meet the Midwives event that we attended. We felt this would be a great way to meet all the midwives and get a feeling for the practice. For my first delivery we lived out of state and visited a similar midwifery clinic set up. Each appointment I met with a different midwife so on the big day I knew who was helping me. This event definitely helped us get to know the staff, answer questions and we took a quick tour of Wentworth Douglas hospital. At this point I'm very excited to begin this second journey with them! I went with Garrison Women's Health for my first pregnancy feeling very centered by the idea of a midwife. Though I found I got on with most practitioners there I did know there were a couple I would rather not deliver with. They rotate deliveries by whoever is on so even if you attempt to meet everyone you may end up delivering with someone whom you have never met. A minus, I feel, but my first experience (my daughter delivered by a midwife I had never met and never saw again) went well enough that I returned to GW for my second pregnancy. My second pregnancy mirrored the first pregnancy in that I found my office visits to Garrisons to be user friendly enough and the staff and billing offices easy enough to work with. It was when my second labor began that I changed my opinion of the practice. My water broke and I had been in labor for 24 hours and admitted to the hospital without seeing anyone from Garrison Women's. I had a hard delivery with my first daughter and was nervous and wished to relay my experience to the staff on from Garrisons. After being in the hospital with my water having broken 24 hours past and still not seeing or talking to anyone from Garrison's I had to fight with the nurse to call my doctor. The nurse blatantly told me: "Fine. I will call her but she will not be nice to you". Dr. Pam Bertram was cold, demeaning and lacked all bedside manner. She not only disregarded my wishes as a delivering mother she snorted and demeaned my concerns by asking "what do you want a C-section right now?". She was not going to "check me until I felt the urge to push" - my concern was that with my first delivery I never felt the urge to push because of the heavy epidural. I was coached and told when to push by my midwife. I argued with the Doctor and we set the time for her to "check me" at 6 am. (*The nurse did come in and assure me not to worry that if the baby "fell out" in my bed they were right down the hall*) At 6am she came in, after I had sat through the entire night. With a half a push my daughter was born with the umbilical cord wrapped tightly around her neck several times. Who knows how long she had been there? Luckily she had no health issues such as cerebral palsy but I have heard of others who have. I am angry that I paid about 10K to a practice so they could treat me like a bother, dismiss my own intuition and practice what I thought was a dicey delivery. I did deliver a third child happily...but not there!!!! I left and went to Women's Health Associates (all docs who respect women!) for my last child. I would tell people to keep looking. read more

I waited over an hour to be seen by the doctor. I was told I would get a 15% discount if I paid in full after my appointment since I have no insurance. There was no one at the desk to take payment when I left. Since the office was closed because I had to wait so long. My appointment was Wednesday night and they called me Thursday morning saying they would call in a prescription for me. It's now Saturday and they have not called it in. I've called the office 3 or 4 times since my appointment and they keep saying they're going to call it in. I will not be back. read more

I'm writing a review based on an event that happened to me because of Garrison when I was living in NH. I'm still dealing with repercussions. My family and I even discuss how stupid we were not to sue. I was told that I would need a minor surgery to diagnose various problems I had been having. This supposedly "minor" surgery was the singular most painful event of my life, and left me unable to walk for two weeks (normal recovery time: 48 hours). Additionally, the doctors at Garrison told me that there was nothing wrong with me, so the pain I was having was in my head and there was nothing they could do. Perhaps most interesting was when my scars became infected. I came back to the office so they could fix the infection and provide me antibiotics; the doctor who performed my surgery refused to write down that the scars were infected, and repeatedly told me they were not. However, she interestingly continued to tell me that I return to the office to have the bandages changed (charging my insurance each time, as well as charging me a copay). I trusted her, and went back five times before I began to realize she just didn't want a record of her work causing infection. I went to my PCP, who immediately diagnosed the infection and prescribed me antibiotics. I went to a different doctor and repeated the same minor surgery within six months. I was able to walk comfortably the next day. This new doctor expressed a lot of surprise at Garrison "not being able to find anything," as she was able to show me pictures of what had physically been causing me so much pain. She was shocked that a licensed doctor had been unable to see the disease, since it was so readily apparent to someone competent. I hope this review deters someone from going to Garrison. I've heard and read that some people absolutely love this place, and I hope that things have changed; at the same time, I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I went through. read more

I would not recommend this practice anymore. They've gone downhill over the years. Hard to get anyone to answer the phone. Takes hours to get a call back. Feel like they've been giving my daughter the runaround for years now, with no luck dealing with her heavy periods, sometimes 5 weeks long in duration. They just keep putting her on different pills, etc. Rude over the phone, snippy to me. I delivered this same daughter there and have been going there now for 18+ years. Now will be looking for a new practice for my daughter and I. Final straw was when by daughter turned 18 and just like overnight, they would not speak with me about her health care decisions. But they could've been polite about it, but instead were snippy and rude. They 'sent' a form to my daughter, but didn't ask her for an email address or anything, so we had no idea how she is supposed to access this form to give them approval to talk with me. Just a lot of loose ends and bad customer service lately. Mammogram services have always been great. But.. On to a different practice for us. read more

This is second time that I have received OB services from this practice. The last time was in 2004. It is challenging to navigate within the administrative structure of this practice, and obviously the practice has outgrown their care and administrative structure due to their patient load. I am an "advanced advanced" maternal age patient, and I have requested numerous times for an MD for OB visits in my 3rd trimester and at delivery, and so far, the practice has refused to comply, and keeps scheduling me with the Nurse Practitioner. I transferred from Partners for Women's Health in Exeter to Garrison in my 1st trimester, as I didn't want to deliver at Exeter Hospital. In comparison, Exeter provides a higher level of service and the RNs are more informative. It's fine for baseline care, if you are under 35 and relatively healthy. If I get into complications (knock on wood) I would be nervous about continuing with this practice and would asked to be referred out. It's also good to know that if you go into labor and delivery with a midwife, and run into complications that require the MD, the MD is not necessarily available when you need them (neither is the anesthesiologist). They have to be called in. That introduces a slight risk if you decide to deliver with a midwife. Just something to be aware of. read more
