Just a heads-up to anyone considering Dr. Oaks at Tanner Clinic, my pre-op appointment was a complete disaster--poor communication, ADA violations, missing records, and a disturbing lack of professionalism. He refused to continue care after I asked basic questions, then my patient portal access vanished after a written records request. Not how healthcare should be. Staff here are very friendly and they are well educated and knowledgeable they have a beautiful new facility they work out of in Layton.

dr oaks is a great doctor and so is dr robbins. dr robbins is very sweet and funny and made me feel very comfortable!

I previously gave Dr. Oaks a glowing review and want to delete it but don't know how. He has operated on me twice. At first I was walking normally but now I am in constant pain and can't even walk right. The last time I saw him he said he could no longer help me leaving me feeling abandoned and not knowing what to do. He said to me that I would be jogging soon well just walking upright is a daily struggle. He put hardware in my foot that whas to big for my body. My current Dr.said if he tried to remove the hardware my foot would fall apart. All my current Dr. could do was remove a small screw. That did help a little. All Dr. Oaks did for me was experiment with my foot at my detriment. No I would not recommend Dr. Oaks to anyone. I thought he cared but apparently he did not. read more

I had bunion surgery about 5 years ago and it deformed my foot. my big toe is now out and away from the other toes so that I am never be able to find shoes that fit well, and it still has pain and has ever since the surgury. I went and had another podiatrist give me an opinion of why is was so deformed, and was told that the surgery over corrected and the only way he could fix it is to take pain pills, or have the bone fused so that I no longer had a joint there. He should stick to being a glorified toe nail cutter, If he is any good at that. read more

I went to Dr. Oaks to get a second opinion on whether I should get surgery or not. The front desk staff as well as his medical staff were very friendly. Dr. Oaks explained my injury in great detail and even pulled up pictures to allow me to better understand my injury and why he felt surgery was the best option. He explained how he would do the surgery and why, and mentioned my first doctor could do it and do it well. In the end, I chose Dr. Oaks to do my surgery. I was lucky enough to be able to squeeze it in in 4 days. I am now almost a week post op and I am very pleased with my post op experience and the information I received at my post op appointment. It is nice to have a doctor who can joke and smile with you, yet one who is very knowledgeable and understands the worries that each patients face. He spends quality time with you and has excellent bedside manner. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Oaks. Extremely good at patient education and communication. Very polite reception area and he is always on time.

Dr Oaks saw my 12 yr old son for a football injury. After the injury healed he told me my son needed surgery to remove a small bone chip. The last visit before doing the surgery he confirmed chip was still there and also said my son now had a bone spur that we might as well handle while in there. My sons father wanted a second opinion even though surgery was scheduled. I took him in to this other Dr who had much better technology and he showed me in the xray how the "bone chip" was actually part of his growth plate and the "bone spur" was actually a callus. So the day before the surgery I call and explain all of this and cancel the surgery. Dr Oaks office still has the nerve to change us a cancellation fee for a surgery he was going to perform on my son that was completely unnecessary. read more

Dr. Oaks was very helpful with my foot. He removed a mole from the bottom of my foot and the incision healed so nicely - barely noticeable. Dr. Oaks was very informative. Definitely recommend him. read more

Concerning the SUGARHOUSE CLINIC of Advanced Foot and Ankle Center I have run into several issues with the staff at Advanced Foot and Ankle Center. My husband came in for an appointment, was prescribed medication, and told to go to our Pharmacy (Walmart) to pick it up. They said they emailed or faxed it over. Walmart had not received anything from them. We called and they insisted they sent it but with some pressure said they would send it again. Still Walmart hadn't received it. The fourth time I called Advanced Foot (two weeks after the appointment) I insisted that they call the order in. She told me they didn't answer but that she would keep trying and would call me back. I was never called back. Now it had been over two weeks since his appointment and he still wasn't able to get the medication. I got off work early and went to Advanced Foot and Ankle demanding a physical copy of the prescription so I could take it to Walmart myself because they would not follow through on a phone call. They were reluctant at first but gave it to me then asked "Isn't your husband coming in for his follow up today?" "No. He did not have the medication so there is nothing to follow up on." When they asked if they could reschedule I asked for them to call him. They didn't. It's now been three weeks since this incident (five weeks from the original visit) and I had to call them to schedule a follow up. Guess what. "We have no record of him." I give two stars because the doctor, during the visit, was very nice. The staff and experience that followed were awful. read more
